A WISHer wrote about wearing toe socks when she walked long distances. Do you recommend them? I thought I was developing a little hot spot between my 3rd and 4th toe yesterday and thought toe socks might do the trick.

I know they have a brand at Fleetfeet too, but not sure what they are like.

Robert, UltraMic, is the expert on the toe socks. Although he has feet like a sushquach:

Guess that's why the guy can walk for freaking ever. I thought I was a walker!

I bought a pair about a month ago. Honestly, I don't know that they made a difference for me. That said, my toes get really sore & painful after long walks/runs. I have never had blister issues (knock on wood). I think these socks are more for blister-type issues.

Ok, so that was very unhelpful, huh? ;)

Colleen,

Someone here mentioned them and I went and bought a couple pairs. I LOVE them. I've had blister issues the last few long races. I've worn socks with coolmax, Smartwool, Thorlo, Wright socks, anything that said blister-free and nothing has worked. I bought the Injinji toe socks at REI. Wore them for an 8.5 mile training session and then when I did the Nike 1/2 in SF. Not one blister!:cool1:

I also have a hot spt on the blade of my foot , so after I put the socks on I rubbed vaseline over that area and didn't have a problem either.

The socks are not cheap ($13 pr.) but to avoid blisters, they were worth it to me.

I am so glad you asked this question. I just got my new shoes yesterday and when speaking about the fit and my toe blisters between the little and the next toe on my left foot, it was suggested that the toe socks might work for me. However the Fleet Feet store I use do not carry them.

Thanks, I guess I may try to pick a place to order them then.

Terri, so good to hear! Thanks for the info. and so glad they are working for you!

Off to shop at REI.

I went to the REI site just now.

I wear 8.5 and 9. shoes...

Sock Sizing is as follows:
S fits women's shoe size 6 - 8.5 / men's shoe size 5 - 7.5
M fits women's shoe size 9 - 11.5 / men's shoe size 8 - 10.5

What do you think? Small or Med?

I'm thinking Med.

I have worn them through 2 Goofy's, a Minnie Double, and Tot without blisters on my toes. My toes overlap and I had to tape them and do other things but still got blisters. They work great. The link is http://www.injinji.com/ . Lots of ultrarunners wear them. I modeled them at ToT. No pics. One of the few things I didn't take a pic of:rolleyes1

I use Injinji socks too and I love them! I've never had blister issues with them at all. Just an FYI - you can also order them through Running Warehouse and get our WISH discount.
