I've lived in Swansboro, NC, near camp Lejeune. in VA near the Yorktown base. I'm not sure if that base is still there, Or perhaps what it's used for has changed. it's a really nice area.

Yorktown Naval Weapons Station is still around and used for the same purpose. Nothing about it has changed.

Another AF Brat that met and married an AF Brat that was in the AF!!! (Clear as mud?)

We also added two children to the "Heir Force".

We lived on that Yorktown Naval Base, not once but twice with a two year interval to NJ and California in between. I went back a few years ago and it was very run down. When we were there my Dad was an officer and we lived in nice housing with access to stable, library, bowling alley, movie theatre. It is either all gone, boarded up, or shabby. I had a lot of memories there and it made me pretty sad.

I remember the nice housing, and everything else. Thats a shame, I had heard that their had been some changes.

I go back and visit the Williamsburg area every once in a while. it's also interesting to see the wildlife along the colonial parkway. The geese still cross the street slowly with their broods.:D

Another Army brat here:

born in Hot Springs, Ark--moved to Germany when I was 11 weeks old. Dad was already there before I was born. Army wives!! Mom had no family in Arkansas and had a 2 1/2 year old, too. She still talks about the cross-country train trip to NYC with us!!

Germany 3 years, then Fort Rucker, Alabama. Next was Nashville, then Virginia then Fort Rucker again. Ended back up in Virginia again and then had a short stay in Oklahoma. Back to Virginia, back to Germany for 3 more years. After Germany we went to Mineral Wells, TX where Dad retired.

I was lucky--got to go to only one high school. Changing elementary schools wasn't too hard but high school would have been!
