Hi, this is my second poste about this but I NEED storage ideas that are easy to travel with.I know about making up the basic pages ahead of the crop, but I always take way too much stuff.

the last SDV I took my kits, my bare basic tools, a light, and foldable wire shelves (got those at Walmart), and trash bags. On the other post I listed my tools that I bring.

With the kits I try to stick to a theme, like Disney. So I don't take extra embellishments.

here is a list from the Crating Keepsakes Convention site, this is a good basic tool list:
14. What should I bring for classes?
Getting to class without your basics can be a drag. Pack your bags and make sure you bring the following basic supplies so you can complete your class projects on-site:

Favorite pair of straight-edge, micro-tip scissors
Personal 12" x 12" paper trimmer
Favorite adhesives, both wet and dry
Black archival journaling pen
Pencil
Paper piercer and mat
Stapler and extra staples
Regular hole punch
Black and brown ink
Corner rounder

A few things that I always try to remember to bring when I'm scrapping away from home are....

a small bag for trash

Post-It notes..... that way, if I want to change or add something to a layout and I don't have what I need, I can make a note and stick it to the layout to help me remember when I get home

ruler, pencil, eraser, plenty of adhesive, a light (I bring a portable OTT light whenever I can), a small cutting mat, a small container to keep my pencil, ruler, etc upright on the work surface... I like having my stuff together in one spot.

Anyhow......over time I have developed some portable "kits" that I try to keep pre-packed to bring along to crops. I have a portable tool kit from Making Memories that includes a paper piercer, tweezers, hammer (for setting brads), multi-size anywhere punch). I don't use this kit at home, since I already owned everything. I keep the kit in my rolling bag. I also keep a spare cutting mat packed in the bag. I also have a big 12 x 12 accordion folder that I keep filled with a small-ish supply of basic colored cardstock. I can always grab that and bring it along if I feel like I might need extra paper.

Honestly though.... if you are concerned about overpacking and have enough time ahead to plan, I would DEFINITELY go with the kit idea. I don't scrap away from home very often, but I did last year. I spent about a month of scrapping time making up kit after kit. Each kit contained the photos (pre-cropped in most cases), layout sketch, cardstock, patterned paper, anything precut from the Cricut (title letters) and run through my Xyron, and any extras (brads, flowers, ribbon).

I threw in a few extra tools for "just in case" like my corner punches and corner rounder. If I decided as I made up a page that it needed anything extra that I didn't have on hand, I made a sticky note (bright pink) and put it right on the front of the bag (after I finished each page kit I returned it to its appropriate bag for the trip home).

When I got home it was just a matter of typing up the journaling and adhering it in place and doing those last finishing touches.

I have my pictures laid out with the papers I plan on using and the stickers/swap items too stacked in those 12 x 12 layout boxes. I do take extra solids in a paper carrier. I make sure and have plenty of adhesives, my paper trimmer, scissors, etc. All of my stuff is stored in portable containers. I love the small jewelry bead organizers with the snap on lids. I put all my small embellishments like brads, charms, stick pins, eyelets, fibers, etc. in them. I bring my stickles in a small plastic carrier. I have a medium sized plastic jar filled with flowers and another filled with buttons. For ribbon I only bring the ones I think I will use (example I am not going to bring easter if I am working on christmas, etc.). I have to have all my stuff organized in easy to grab containers because I am constantly cropping outside of my house at neighbors, etc. I would feel incomplete if I didn't bring it, because I love to look at my completed layouts as well as walk around to look at everyone elses layouts at crop. It is me being silly, but I don't want to share my work if I feel it is incomplete. Weird I know. I am sure you will find a system that works for you : )

Page kits on a topic - photos, paper, possible printed paper, cricutted titles on xyron (I unroll a strip of X refill on my table. Lay out the title on it, cover it with the covering and cut the section off the roll. It stays on the backing until I'm ready to use it.) Journaling block if I've done it on the computer. I put each one in a page protector and all the page protectors either in an album or a paper taker. If there are several paper takers, I might pack as much as possible in a rolling tote.

tool kit in a pencil box ( corner rounder, cutterbee scissors, pencil, ruler, push pin, piercer mat set, black gel pen, black double ended marker, gold and silver gels, small ink pad for edges.) Only for weekend long crops do I take my AMM tool tote and spinner base.

table top ott light
ATG gun and stand
paper trimmer
extension cord
seat cushion
sweater/polar fleece throw (some of those crop spaces can be COLD)
Now, I have a cupholder thingy, so I'll be taking that too!

Everything that doesn't fit in the rolling tote goes in a cardboard box.

C'mon MARCH!
