It's funny you posted this. I just read my weekly allears mail and it's about that. All the times they have been there, they have still seen something different each time. There's so much to do there and there's nothing like the memories you get from going to Disney with you're family........ . It was well said.
We like visiting other places too, but we've had so much fun that we're going this year and next too. When family members and friends heard we were going, they said "again? Weren't you just there?" It irritated me too. Now I keep my Disney talk here and with my friend who goes once a year too!

I find it annoying, too. We like to visit other places too, and we do so on occasion but we have yet to go anywhere where we relax and enjoy ourselves like Disney. I have met so many people over the years who vacation every year at the Jersey shore or Cape Cod and no one says to them "again?". They don't seem to understand that Disney is a resort that has everything to offer and more. We find ourselves bored after a few days in other places. We also find ourselves doing something new on each visit to Disney. Granted, we are not big beach people, but at Disney we always can find something to do or it is the most enjoyable place I can think of to do nothing at all.

I get that too. A co-worker who has never been there asked me, "What do you like about it so much, the rides?" I didn't know what to say. There is so much more to it than just the rides. It's just the whole magical Disney experience that keeps drawing you back. It's truly hard to describe to someone who has never been.

I have done lots of traveling too, and have never found anywhere else that I am so anxious to return to as often as possible. I really can't think of anywhere else that I'd want to go.

I think it has to do with the fact that my first family vacation I remember taking as a child was to Disney World, and that sort of set the prescedent (sp?) of what a family vacation should be like, and nothing else has compared since.

Now that I am married with a daughter of my own, I plan to go as much as we can afford.

We are planning a big family trip (my wife's side of the family - 5 families) in August 2006... This morning, i told my parents that we were going, and just as I was going to ask them to come with us as well, they said, "you were just there last year; why would you go again this year?"

What IRKS me the most about this is that my parents like to take day trips to the Atlantic City Casinos (we live in the Philadelphia Area) - where the money that they spend in 3 hours would give us a wonderfull day at the park, pool, and two full meals! All of that, and every time we go back, the place has evolved! Can't get that much fun from a casino. I'd like to see them get Donald Trump's signature... I know that my kids got Donald Duck's last year!

Yes, I hear that all the time. Funny thing is most of the people who say that to me are the same ones who go to the Jersey Shore or the Poconos every year!

It's funny, the people asking that usually have never been. The few that have been and still ask just don't "get" Disney. (you know the type, large cro -magnon type brow, never smiles , no imagination, thinks the best vacation possible is a front row seat at the ol' bug zapper out back!) My wife and I always say we're "entering the bubble" when we get to WDW. The outside world becomes just that, OUTSIDE!! No stress no worries just us and the kids making memories. It really is a different vacation every time. I feel bad for those that dont connect.

There ARE other places to go than Disney, and if you go there, just say "we went to Vermont last year and are going to Texas next winter."

If you don't, well, "we like it there" works.

We've gotten it occationally, and we always say "its really the perfect vacation for us right now. It handles kids well. There are a lot of decent restaurants. We enjoy the atmophere, the hotel pools are wonderful. There is always something to do - but if you feel like relaxing you can do that, too. Its relatively clean and safe. When the kids get a little older, we will do some more challenging travel with them, but we will continue to go to Disney for the great golf courses and resorts. Did you know Disney has 99 holes of golf, offers bass fishing and horseback riding, a resident Cirque du Soliel troupe, and has two full service spas? It isn't just theme parks."

By the time we get done, they are booking a trip themselves.

The complaints are "but what about the crowds" ("Oh, we never travel during busy season.") and "its so expensive" ("yeah, it is, we are lucky to be able to afford it, and there are some tricks to keeping it reasonable.").

I just tell them this year I am going to Italy, next year will be Morocco, then France, Germany, Norway, Mexico, Canada and then Japan.

Let those people go to other places if they want, more room and fun for the rest of us.

This Oct. will be my family's 1st trip to WDW, and people are even questioning me! "What is the dis?" "Why are you planning so much?" "Why don't you just go somewhere else that's easier?"

My husband, our 6yr old daughter and I went to All Star Movies and WDW for a wonderful week last August. What a thrilling holiday! This year we were planning a road trip to Boston. A co-worker of mine lost her 20yr old daughter to breast cancer last month. Twenty!!! So after about 5minutes we decided...why not save Boston for when our girl is older, why not go back to WDW when the fantasy and the magic is still strong! And so we're off to POP for 5days and the ST Petes beach for 5days this July.

So when "they" ask, why would we go again.... I answer "so I don't regret it latter ---to keep the magic alive!!!"

I live a three and a half hour drive from WDW. So when we got stationed here my Uncle CheshireFigment (who loves in spittin' distance of WDW) said "Great! When's your first trip to Disney?" Well, hubby decided we'd get annual passes. We've gone to WDW for short weekend trips a lot. (Oct., Nov., Dec. '04 and March, April, May...i went first weekend of June w.out the boys and hubby for GayDays to see my Momma and her patner.) We missed Jan-Feb because of my being in the hospital and recovery. Anyways, we're not going back until August (WAH!) but that trip is a biggie!
My in-laws are joinging us, along w/ my SIL her hubby and my two nieces, that's 10 of us all together! For a whole week!!!! YAY! And I've already booked our Sept. trip.
Come Oct. we have to re-up the passes... I love Disney. I didn't realize the first time I went there that it would "consume" me so. But it did. My kids teachers are always asking which weekend we're going! LOL!
The thing about WDW is that it is a Utopia. If the whole world had Disney's attitude there'd be a heck of a lot less bloodshed than there is now...maybe a skirmish or two w/ Universal.
My hubby and I imagined once... Universal invades WDW, the troops get 5 feet into MK and drop their weapons, they all don Ears and go ride Space Mountain.

I can't agree more! Everybody around me thinks I am crazy. I spend most of my spare time planning, Making PS reservations and finding out new tips. They just don't get it. Disney is a place you can really look forward to going to. When we go to the beach we have fun for about 2 days but then what? We end up at the local mall...wow that is fun! NOT! I have been to disney about 8 times and there is still lots of stuff I haven't got to see or do. Hey their loss!
Now our boy is almost 6 and I am scared if we don't go me might put it off until he is old enough to think his parents aren't "Cool enough" to hang with. Not to mention you don't know what the future has in store for you. DISNEY HERE WE COME! 4 weeks and counting!
