Who gets teary-eyed?

I'm trying to hold back the tears just reading through these posts!!! I'm glad I'm not the only adult who gets this way.

I am an emotional person by nature, so it's water works at WDW. When Jiminy Crickett announces Spectromagic, I get teary eyed and a lump in my throat. During Wishes, not only do I cry, but I get goose bumps! Then, there is something about the sound of the monorail going by that gets me all emotional. Weird, I know!!! :earboy2:

Ok, so I'm not that strange. I get it when I see the reaction on my kids faces, especially, the sheer joy of seeing the castle or characters.

But what always gets me is when I see the bill at checkout. :earseek:

But its worth it and I'll do it again...soon.

As a kid I always wanted to go to Disney but it was never in the family budget. It took till I was 45 years old and had my own family before I finally got the chance to go to WDW.I consider myself to be a normal, well adjusted man (if there is such a thing) but when I walked thru the entrance and down Mainstreet, looked up and saw the castle I stood and blubbered like a little girl.We will be visiting WDW for the third time this December and I will be packing a hanky because the magic that lives in the Happiest Place on Earth can still turn Mr Macho in to a 10 year old boy.

Oh, micksterlee, thank you! Thank God I'm not alone!
I've been quite a few times and it still gets me (Wishes, Spectro and Illuminations always turn me into jelly, especially when I see the look in my DD's face).

You took the words right out of my mouth. :umbrella:
Greetings from one 'Disney Macho' to another...

This is the BEST post ever!!!

I am not by any means emotional, but when my mom, sister and I went on a "girl's trip" in 2003, as soon as we walked down Main Street and I saw the dancers and the castle and everyone was smiling and laughing, I looked at my sister and mom and the tears came! Then I started laughing and crying because I thought it was so funny that I was crying!!

My poor boyfriend is going to crack up if I cry when we get there!!

15 days til Tears Of Disney Joy!!!!

I get emotional too! I just can't help it! I am so happy when we are there!! :cloud9:
I am worse when my fiance does cute things while we are there. We were there in early December 2005 and watching the fireworks at Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, and my then boyfriend leaned in and says "I wish I had a ring so that I could propose to you right now." I lost it. (He did propose just a few weeks later on Christmas morning! ;) )

Ooh! Ooh! Me, Me!!

Doesn't take much at Disney (maybe it's all that pent-up long-awaited expectation of finally being there!) but anything that combines intense visuals with moving music will definitely do it for me.

I guess it's 'cause it's just such a MAGICAL place! :wizard:

I was tearing all up just watching the DVC video last night lol. I kept trying to turn my head so my ds wouldn't see me, 'cuz really, I wouldn't be able to explain myself :confused3 .

I think it's the whole re-living memories from my childhood and wanting to share those with my kids thing that gets me. ::MickeyMo

micksterlee & MKFan-PR, add me to the list of guys who get choked up. For me:

1. Virtually every time I hear "Circle Of Life", but most especially at FOTLK and at the end of the Disney Dreams show on the DCL ships. They come right down through the theater on the ship, and it's the most powerful thing you've ever seen.

2. Every time I see that statue of Walt and Mickey in front of the castle. Those of us involved in DeMolay and Freemasonry (like I am) almost always refer to him as "Brother Walt". It's a unique personal connection back to the man (and the mouse) that started it all.

3. It's the music, man. I put together a cd of the best love songs from the movies, and there are a couple that get me if I'm not paying attention. Quasi's "Out There" and "Beauty and the Beast" (DW is a heckuva lot smarter and purtier than me (think Andie McDowell and Chris Farley, if that gives you a visual) so I know I lucked out).

I'll probably think of some more later, but those are the big ones.

I am so glad I am not alone in this club. Not as many guys posting but I bet there are plenty out there that feel the way we do. Wishes about did me in the first time I saw it. It was one of the most moving experiences for me in a long time. (Ive been a single dad of my 16 yo son for the past 6 years). Recently some one posted a link to a video of wishes. I downloaded it and everytime I watch it the tears start streaming down my face. I guess that is what makes everything so magical at Disney. Their ability to hit those emotional spots so perfectly is why I so love this place. I was also amazed to hear my too cool son talk about how much he is looking forward to our trip in august.

Great post

John

Me too!!! I tear up at the end of Illuminations every time I see it and there are a million other little things there that make me emotional. I think I'm just so happy when I'm there that all my emotions are on my sleeve!!

I got teary eyed just reading that!!! :rotfl:

Add my DH and myself to the list! We get teary at WDW commercials, the music from Main Street Electrical parade, Spectromagic, Illuminations, and even Off Kilter

Once we get there, it doesn't take much for that magical teary moment to appear!

Off course, the worst tears are when we have to leave. We both get chocked up when we officially drive off WDW property :guilty:

:) Oh yes! Me, the human waterfall, I certainly do tear up. Let's see...

:) Watching the planning video.
:) Packing my bags to go.
:) Arriving at MCO.
:) Getting on the bus to go to my resort.
:) Arriving at my resort.
:) Riding the bus to the park.
:) First walking in my room at the resort.
:) When I first arrive at MK.
:) When I first see Mickey Mouse.
:) The first view of the castle while walking down Main Street.
:) Seeing anybody else having a magical moment.
:) Children smiling or overjoyed at anything - especially when they squeal
:) When a mentally or physically challenged child gets some special recognition, I cry like a baby. :goodvibes
:) When I see somebody in a wheelchair who is in obvious pain get up to meet with a character, it just rips my heart out. It takes everything I have not to go hug them and tell them how happy I am that they are in WDW with me.
:) Seeing other people get excited and tear up.
My list could go on and on and on!

I always tear up and cry at the first sounds of the trumpets in the beginning of Spectromagic.

But even worse in MGM at Honey I shrunk the Audeince preshow. The Kodak lost dog sequence. I actually bawl my eyes out everytime. I'm probably one of the only people inside with the 3d glasses on to hide my tears.

Honey, I did the same thing. I loved that commercial, but it made me cry. Then I had to wipe my eyes and take the 3-d glasses off to tell the two girls across from me who were muggin' down to get a room.

The Great Movie Ride! Ya know the montage (sp?) scene in the end? That one makes me cry EVERY time.

Yes, and I cry at all of the above too - Main Street, the music, magical moments, but no one has mentioned the Great Movie Ride yet.

Standing on main street....looking straight ahead @ the castle... watching "Spectro"..... :flower1: :goodvibes
