love going to Epcot
Knew it was food and wine however did NOT know it was THE 35th Anniversary
I have never seen so many people in lines for merchandise and stuff...couldn’t even walk Into Mouse Gears it was sooo crowded
Was a real bummer for our last day
Had I realized we would have went on Thursday
Ugh

I was kind of feeling bad because I was going to miss out on all the limited edition goodies because my trip isn't until November/December, but now I'm feeling a whole lot better. :) Funny how things just slip by no matter how much you plan. Been there. Done that.

If it makes you feel better we went friday and absolutely dumping rain for hours. I was wearing a poncho and still got drenched. The food at all the carts wisely serve food on paper plates in the rain, but kindly give you cardboard trays to cover your food that quickly become sponges. My FP+ for test track was worthless. And I think they turn the AC up extra when it rains to make you extra extra cold when wet. My shoes are still soaked and reak like death.

As soon as I remembered, I ran to The Chapeau Shop on Main Street to call you using the old timey crank telephone there - but Annie and her mom WOULD NOT get off the party line (and don't get me started on their eavesdropping neighbor, Miss Klump). Sorry about that - but now I know what everything costs there - if you're curious, go pick up the receiver. I'm sure they're STILL talking and will be for awhile.

I know some of these jabs are in good fun, but OP, I feel for you. I think you have to be among the more moderately hard-core / plugged-in Disney fans to 1) have had the 35th Anniversary firmly on your radar and 2) have a solid grasp on how that event alone would/would not impact crowds. From what I saw on Twitter, crowds were huge, especially for merchandise. That would likely have caught me off guard too if I had not been focusing on the fact it was the 35th anniversary.

Hope you had an otherwise enjoyable trip OP.

That was us. My shoes are still a little stinky.

We just got annual passes yesterday and wandered into Epcot (unknowingly) during the 35th anniversary celebration. Honestly, I didn't think it was that bad for it being both Food and Wine and the 35th anniversary. All in all, it seemed pretty well handled. And if that was that busy and crowded of a day, I'm looking forward to going back when it's a normal day.

Just add it to the list of times when you SHOULDN'T go if you hate crowds:

1) Holidays
2) The week after a hurricane (as we found out last week)
3) On an anniversary

We all make mistakes. It's what makes us better planners.

I was going to tell you but every time I try to advise you... you call me a "Butt-in-ski" so I figured why bother :rolleyes1

I went to Epcot for the 35th anniversary. I really didn't find it crowded beyond a normal Sunday. There were pretty long lines for the shops that had the special merchandise, but we didn't go in those. I was able to get the tier 1 fast passes as my 4th around 3pm. I actually found the food and wine more crowded when we were there on Saturday. My main objective was to just get the free pin and go into the park for a bit on the anniversary. If there is merchandise you wanted to buy for the 35th anniversary I heard they are selling it online

I saw pictures on FB and it was crazy. Today looked crazy too. The merchandise looked really cool though. Mousegears was packed I hear.

It's your own fault for not doing your research. I mean, c'mon, you're registered on this site. How could you not know?

(LOL! Just busting your horns. I have seen comments like this though when someone laments about not knowing something that was happening at WDW.)
