Who follows the Unofficial Guides touring plans exactly as they are written?

I have been trying to decide if I want to follow the Guides touring plan or not. When I read over them, it seems like a really good idea. I just don't know about passing up some rides when I am right there by them. Has anyone actually followed the plan exactly and how did it work for you? Would you do it again? I am planning on three days at the MK next trip and I think the first day we may try it and see what happens. If we don't care for it, we can just wing it the other two days. Just curious about others experience following the plan.

eeyoreforever, thanks for reading the Guide. The latest touring plans have a section detailing how and why they work, so you should be able to modify them to suit your needs while following our general advice.

Also consider bringing along the newest park "cheat sheets," which should help you determine when and where you can go off the plan without getting into really long lines.

I buy one every year! But I don't exactly follow the tour guides....We have been many times, so we sorta know our way around now, but I buy one every time just the same! I love reading that book!

We did follow them pretty close the first time we went. And the new Cheat Sheets look wonderful!

I use them as guidelines, but do not follow them exactly. For our first trip I wrote down our family's "must-sees" and then sort of plugged them into the touring plans, going first to the attractions listed first in the plans and so on. I also avoided a lot of the backtracking or crisscrossing in MK as well by touring the "left" side (Splash Mtn, BTMRR, etc) one day and the "right" side (Space Mtn, etc) another day - my mother was with us and would not have been able to handle the entire MK in one day. However, within each of those days I still prioritized the attractions according to the touring plans.

Even now that we've been a few times and have a decent handle on crowd behavior (really, getting there right at opening is MORE than half the battle!), I still review the touring plans beforehand to see how new attractions change traffic patterns and such.

We worked our way through before we left, working out which rides we wanted to do and then when we got to the parks we followed the plan exactly.

We were 2 adults and one ds aged 5, this was our first trip - it was christmas week - we were there for 7 nights and we saw everything we wanted - the plans worked perfectly and the only attraction we queued for was Its Tough to Be a Bug!

The touring plans are king!
