Who feels like a threadkiller - Take 4!

Good morning everyone.

Kim, so sorry to hear that your mom is back in the hospital, how depressing for everyone involved. I really hope they find a solution to her problems soon.

Hey Ann, good news about Holly. Here's hoping they can get her regulated real soon.

Say "hi" to your friend for me next time you see her

I am off soon for an airplane weekend away. We are going to Columbus Ohio, about 5 hour drive one way. The weather looks like it will be fantastic, so that is a bonus at least.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Ann, that's good and bad for Holly, right? Let's take the good for now! :thumbsup2 Hope she's regulated soon! I know people can be hard enough to treat, but our poor pets that can't talk!? :sad1: {{HUGS}}

Robin have fun! An airplane weekend where you drive? Confused me at first, but knowing you & Rick, I quickly figured it out. :rotfl2:

Mom missed HER family picnic today. :sad1: Dad came, but left early to go see her. After my Dad and brothers & I got over the many questions and shared frustrations from everyone, I think we settled down and had a little fun. After they all left tho, and I was still there, my aunt-in-law shared with me something that brought ME to tears....She said that my Dad was in tears telling them about Mom. :sad1: :sad1: It's been sooo hard for him, and he never shows any signs of it. Hearing it from someone else, well, I was sad. :sad1: I called him twice too, from the picnic once (after he left), and on our way home. I asked if HE needed anything. :confused3 Of course, NOT. He really didn't even answer me tho. And, I think it was Mom's 3rd hospital stay, when I went with Rory (blamemysister) and the kids, and I saw my MOM get emotional - for the 1st time in MY LIFE - this is all just getting toooo much for ALL of us! :worried: Sorry to be the weekend 'downer'! I had fun today, really! MANY of my cousins were there, of which I'M the oldest :rolleyes1 and their kids, and it was a beautiful day, and no one got hurt, and everyone ate well, but Mom wasn't there. :guilty: - Ugh, downer again. :guilty: Sorry.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone! :goodvibes

awww, Kim :guilty:

It sounds like you had a very emotional day.

It's hard isn't it:sad1:

Hey Colleen, so sorry to hear about the death in your family. :guilty:

Ann, on a happier note, I was in Columbus Ohio today and I thought of you :goodvibes

Right near our hotel was a Five Guys burger place:thumbsup2

Thank you Robin, we werent close but he was special~

I have yet to eat at a Five Guys, I hear its great for real beef/steak lovers.

Hiya Threadkillers!

Kim - I hope your mom is doing well. P&PD to you and yours.

Robin - Too bad you missed the Five Guys! We've not been back since, but we're due a visit there soon.....*sigh* you know I LOVE my burgers!

TW - I went back and re-read the posts, but I didn't see the one about your family member. I'm sorry you lost someone in your family and also sorry I missed it.

Hello to everyone else....missing you posting! Come out, come out wherever you are!

To those of you who served or have family members who did - Happy Memorial Day and thank you SO much for your service!

In my family, we have a HUGE military tradition. My dad did 31 years in the Navy, 3 brothers served in the Navy (2 more than 20 years). One brother in the Army (20 yrs). My twin brother and I served in the Marine Corps, and tinknutts husband did 20 in the Navy! All three of our children did time in the service as well two Marines and one Navy.... My Tom? He's the OLD SALT in the group. He did 35 (yes, that's Thirty-FIVE) years in the Navy.....

Anyway, my old salt is currently sleeping in bed....time to wake him up!

I hope ya'll have a GREAT day, enjoy the beautiful weather, BBQs and a lovely day off!

No holiday weekend here but I hope that you are all enjoying yours.

We started out with a nice day but it's turned into a thundery day.

I've got a busy week with dance stuff. Lot of practice needed before recital time.

Also we have plans on going away again this weekend coming up. This time to Michigan and we are bringing the trailer along with us

Hi kids!

Kim~ any more word opn Mom?

We had a great weekend. We went to Saratoga Springs on Satrurday (the real one. not the disney one) and spent the day hanging arounf town. We wne to Lake George that night for dinner and mini-golf, then back to our hotel in Saratoga, oulets in Lake George Sunday morning and BBQ at my brothers Sunday afternoon. Drove back home Sunday night and went to the shortest memorial day parade at my Mom's house. It's fun because tons of the people I grew up with go back to their parents' homes for the parade. For us it's a 10 minute drive, but others are coming from out of state and this is the one time a year I see them. I am from a very small town, and on a big year the parade might last 10 minutes, but it is a small town tradition that I absolutely love!

Wow Ann, I am impressed. I never knew you served. Ooh Rah!

Robin had to have been lurking on Facebook to read about Johns Uncle passing. He lived in Germany and I personally only met him once...24 years ago.

John and I were going to be Marines straight out of high school. They wouldnt take him til his face cleared up. Go figure, a 17yo pimples :confused3: the idea was to go together so I didnt go cause he wasnt.

Hi Everyone!

Kim - how's your mom? You've been on my mind. I know you have a lot on your plate....please come and vent with us if you need to....

'cuz I'm about to.....

Not a good day for Hollydog. She had her insulin increased last week after the accidents and drinking. She did well for a few days and last night she had a HUGE accident and then got up and drank an entire bowl of water.

Her eyes look like they are getting cataracts (greyish reflection). The doc said that was a possibility and if it was going to happen that it would show up quick, so it's not entirely unexpected....just sad.

Right now she's laying on the couch, where she's dribbled, but I don't have the heart to take her down as she's comfy. She's really listless....

Tom and I want to give her the best chance we can to regulate her insulin, but she's doing so poorly, we're talking about the possibility of ending her misery....she just has no sort of life right now and it's breaking our hearts.

I feel terrible about the possibility of putting her down, but I also think it's the right decision. This is a tough day...

awwwwhhh, Ann, I do really feel your pain :guilty:

I went thru that with Subway a few years back when he was declining quickly.

To this day, I really wonder if I picked the right time to take him in or if I could have given him a few weeks longer:sad1: It still makes me cry every time I think about it. I know the end was inevitable and sooner rather than later but it was so very hard at the time.

I know how much you love Holly and how special she is. I have faith that you and Tom will be able to make the right decision for her and also for yourselves. It doesn't make it any easier though.:hug:

I'm sure that it is very hard for Holly too. She must be so confused and upset at what is happening to her and how she feels. That fact that they can't tell us about it makes it so difficult.

Always remember that we are right here for you. You laugh and we laugh with you, you cry and we cry too.

:'(

My heart is breaking with yours sweety;

Seriously breaking.

Holly really is a special little soul~

Hey Ya'll! You guys are so sweet you make me tear up!

We had to take Holly to the vet again today. She had her accident, but her breathing was really shallow & rapid. They checked that and she's fine. Also - her blood sugar is under control....which is good. However, with still having accidents....maybe not so good.

Anyway, the two vets are going to consult and call on Friday and see if they have any recommendations. There is a strong possibility of kindey disease or renal failure. If that's the case, we'll put her down.

We also decided (because the vets may want to do test after test and medication after medication) that when the time is right Tom and I are going to make the decision - not the vets. With luck, prayer and love it'll be a ways away, but you never know.

I just wanted to thank you for your kind words. Robin - thanks for your note as well. You are too sweet for words.

Ann, YOU brought ME to tears about Holly! I know she has the best parents, and you've done and will do ALL you can, but I know you're facing hard decisions now too. I know you'll do what you need to, if you have to, but I know it'll hurt too. :sad1:

Talked with Dad tonight. He thought Mom would be out Tues, and she wasn't. Maybe today. Her primary Dr is getting all her records together for a Mayo visit. It's time for Mayo! Mom is injecting herself now with the med she was so emotional about "putting them in the poor house". :sad1: My Dad is a rock! He is calling Mayo today to see what they need, and he's planning to drive her there the day after she gets out, so possibly Friday. He plans to get a hotel and just wait with her there until she needs admission again - which we all know she'll need! :sad2:

While I know there's nothing I can do even from here while she's in Mayo, it's hard to even imagine having fun in WDW next week. :sad1: I want to be with my Mom. :sad1:

Thanks Colleen! She's still in, and now 2 of her Drs are suggesting the University of Chicago hospital instead of Mayo, for what, I don't know. :confused3 She's having another endoscopy today, and they think they'll discharge her after that! WTHeck! She'll still be under sedation! This is how they always seem to discharge her! Drugged and compliant, until it happens again. :rolleyes1 Within a week, she'll be dehydrated and her BP will be way too low - yet again! :headache: I have been having sympathy pains (and symptoms - for 25 years) right alongside her. If SHE gets diagnosed, maybe I wil too. :confused3

Kim, why do they keep doing all those scopes?

If they have done one or two, they really should have seen what they needed to see, shouldn't they?

I mean, the area is not all that big. It should not have changed that much from the last test:confused3

It sounds like they keep repeating the same tests over and over and get the same results.

I really think it is time for a better specialist:confused:

Why does she get dehydrated so quickly? Does she get enough fluids in her drinks and food and still get dehydrated even with that?

I have had a very very busy week.

I have been dancing my little feeties off this week.

We are working for the dance recital which is June 12.

I've danced every day so far this week and will be dancing again this morning. :faint:

Then at least I am done until Monday night.

Tomorrow I'm off to Jackson, Michigan for an airplane weekend.

We are planning on taking the trailer but we heard from a reliable source that the past 2 weekends they have been holding trailers at the border for up to 5 hours before clearing them to go across. This is apparently on the American side.

While holding these trailers they have been making the passengers in the vehicles stand on the sidewalk in the sun/rain whatever weather with no shelter. Women, children, men........ everybody :confused3

I don't understand why but there is nothing you can do once you are there but follow their "rules".

We have never had that trouble in the past but we are not sure that we want to show up and have to go through that for hours either.

We may switch our plans and just get a motel room instead. Cost wise it is going to come out to pretty much the same amount but it's just nice having the trailer along.
