ahhh, one of my all time favourite songs :thumbsup2

And to answer a previous question........ yes Ann is still around :goodvibes

We have missed your charming stories and quick wit.

How are PA and the kids and grandchildren doing? I bet the little ones have grown so big.

Holy Guacamole, Batman! Is that BrerPapa? COOL! Welcome back, buddy! We've missed you! Please let us know how things are with you, PA & the family. It made my night to see your post!

Kim - still praying for your mother. Thanks for keeping us updated.

DP - hope you have a GREAT time in Disney! I know you will!

Robin - I thought of you tonight. We had spinach with dinner....still can't get enough of that stuff!

Thursday we pick up dad & Dean from their trip to Arizona & Nevada and then Tom and I head out Monday for 4 days in Sarasota - beaches and turducken! Can't wait! Unfortunately, for us and DalPal - the weather isn't getting warmer! We're going to be in the low, low 70s when we should be in the mid to high 70s. I was hoping to spend some time on the beach - not just walk on it.

Well, ya'll take care and thinking of you!!

Ann :thumbsup2

We think of you often also.

Lots of things trigger the memories :goodvibes

Hello HollyAnn! :cool1:

Do you think Harriet ever called Ozzie "The Wizard"? :wizard:
We have missed your charming stories

I'll have to share one with you
and quick wit.

You don't know the half of it
:)

How are PA and the kids and grandchildren doing? I bet the little ones have grown so big.

PA is doing fine. She did have a bit of a rough time not so long ago but all is well.

Kids are well. Youngest has a house closing this Friday.

The GK's are awesome! Oldest GDD has her drivers permit! She's 16. She keeps hinting about someones yellow car....YIKES! They are growing like weeds. They are in : 10th grade, 7th grade, 5th grade, 3rd grade and 1st grade.

Oldest DGS has a fledgeling moustache. he's 12. Next DGS is a big guy with red hair and a laugh that sounds like a song. He's 10.

Next DGD is my little SunShine and teases me more than the other 4 put together. She turned 8 on the 8th.

Youngest is 7 now. A gray eyed Beauty who could charm paint off the wall.

Now, Sammie teases me more than the thers put together....but that's not to say the other's are slackers. I think they get that from their Grammy's side of the family.

I would never.....

Aaaah....but you guys already figured that out......

Turducken is a southern dish - although it's gaining popularity. I've never had it myself....

It's a turkey, stuffed with a duck, stuffed with a chicken. It has layers of stuffing in between them and it's roasted like a regular turkey. All three birds are boned.

We can't wait to try it!

ETA - I'm up SO late tonight....can't sleep, but I'm gonna try. Meeting my friend for coffee & soda at 8:30. I need sleeeeeep!

Once upon a time ago, ..............

PA & I have been married so long now .....38 years......that we don't always need words to communicate....

A look....a raised eyebrow....a nod of the head...all can mean many things at different times....

Well....we've taken wordless communication to new heights!

Before I go any further....I give her ALL the credit!

I  her so.....

welll...as I was saying....

Once upon a time ago.....there was this left over ball of unused pink yarn PA had lleft over after finishing a baby afghan.

It's about the size of a tennis ball, perfectly round and is of a very bright pink hue....

Apparently, she knew I was eye-balling it....cuz lo & behold....when I did lay hands on it....there was a post-it note from the multi-colored post-it note pad stuck on the bottom of the ball.

It said: "DO NOT JUGGLE"

Well....she wasn't around.....but I digress.......

Anyway, she purposely left the tempting morsel right on the top of her crochet bag as the days turned into weeks. Finally, I accepted her wordless challenge!

I tore off the next sheet from the multi-colored post-it note pad and wrote:

"WHY?"

I put the ball back on top of her crochet bag (post-it note down) just like I found it.

PA must have suspected something because within a day or two, I see the ball on top the crochet bag but with the post-it note up. She had written:

"CUZ"

Well folks, from that day forward the post-it notes gew by leaps and bounds.

It started looking like a pink comet with a rainbow tail.

PA even tried to turn it into the equivalent of the job jar from the comic strip "Hi & Lois".

I found little reminders like: "Gutters" ...."Garbage"...."Leaves"

It ended up taking the place of our daily reminder calendar. Examples:

"Doctor's"

"When?"

"Monday"

"Time?"

"9:30"

"Thanks"

I even saved a couple bucks using it.

"Happy Birthday"

"Thanks"

"Welcome"

Apparently, we have elves getting in on it. I saw notes that said:

"Call me"

"Bingo?"

"Baby sit?"

...and a couple pictures that looked like they were drawn by elf-ettes.....

There's even some naughty ones in there....well...G-rated naughty ones....

Examples: "^" or "?" ...and others....you'll have to PM me if you don't know what they mean....

But anyway....SHE started it! I have the proof right there in the rainbow tail.....

Everybody that knows me knows I wouldn't stoop to post-it note tampering.....

Well....after a while, the pink ball of yarn with the pile of post-it notes had reached a height that was no longer safe to be kept on top her crochet bag.

I did what any loving Husband would do....

I took one of PA's fancy tea cups (which also has a "DO NOT JUGGLE" post-it notes) and put the pink ball....complete with its rainbow tail of post-it notes and put it on the end table next to the racliner where she crochets.

Of course, I cleared the end table of everything but the lamp and a doily she crocheted.

What did I get for my efforts?

A BLANK POST-IT NOTE!

Well....I'm a bright boy...I figured out that meant she wasn't talking to me.....so....I left her a blank post-it note right back!

That broke the silence....she left me a post-it note that said: "YOU!"

Naturally, I replied with a "YOU WHO?"

I got another: "YOU!"

So I dropped another "YOU WHO?" as quick as I could.

Here's where the story takes a twist and a turn.....

I went up in the attic and rooted around in the Christmas ornaments until I found what I was looking for. We have a number of these ornaments that both hold a picture.....and you can record a message.

I recorded a message in falsetto while in the attic.....then...I bided my time....

PA was sitting in her recliner crocheting away....I was on the corner of my couch minding my business.....I had the ornament tucked under the pillow....

I waited....waited....then...I pressed the button...

"YOO-HOO"

I looked innocent.....of course.....

PA's head came up....her eyes swiveled around.....and even though she'll deny it....the beginnings of a smile were turning the corners of her mouth up....

SO! I pressed it again!

Now she tried to act all innocent.....like she didn't hear it....

HAH!

Guess what the beauty of the ornament is?

IT TRAVELS!

:rotfl:

Things did get a little violent a couple times....I took an elbow at the movies when we went to see Jim Carrrey's Christmas Carol....and when the waiter came over to see what PA wanted.....and when we were in the waiting room at the doctor's office....and when we were in a crowded elevator...and when.....oooops.....I said a couple times....

I got a few books from the library on ventriloquism to throw her off the scent.....I don't know if it's working....yet....

What I do know is....I have to go buy another pad of post-it notes....I've been getting a lot of blank ones lately.....

I don't know why.....

Hello HollyAnn! :cool1:

Do you suppose Harriet ever served Oz her turducken?

I did indeed google it....and....it sounds scrumptious!

I would think....especially with the duck in the middle....the dish would be very moist.....succulent....

Iwouldn't mind giving it a try.....

:santa:

HEY! I didn't tell you guys! I retired! June 1, 2008.

I sure did get a lot of questions....what was I going to do.....would I travel.....all the like....

PA suggested I go to clown college....

HUH??????????????????

She even had a name picked out for me....and between her and the GK's....they had my "costume" all figured out.....the make-up....the whole shebang.....

Where do these ideas come from?

Clown College starts every October......I missed my chance in '09 anyway.....

Anyway, as far as travels go.....we will do some.....

We did go to Florida....but I have to tell you....our December 2007 trip was THE best ever!

I had the most fun day ....but....it wasn't at Disney....it was at the other place.....I don't know if I should mention by name.....

Hmmmm....

It starts witha "U" and ends in "niversal"........

Speaking of "U"'s....does a certain someone ( :boat: <~~~ hint....it's been awhile) still use the "u"'s in words like 'colour'.....paycheckue'......

just wonderin'.......

Anyway....my fun day was Santa related......and the fun was compounded by a bunch of things....

One was PA & WishingStar got to manhandle the Macy's Day balloons at the U-----------niversal Parade..... another was the "Grinch" show....
the Rockettes....

:) I'll have to tell you all about it sometime....

Now that I'm a bum.....I mean....retired.....I let my beard grow out even more.....it's pretty white.....I mean.....blonde.....

I've decided I want to be Santa when I grow up....

A much higher calling than....say.....a weisenheimer....

You have your calling....I have mine...right :boat:?

Anyway....I did a bunch Santa gigs last Season and the Season before....5 days at the "Festival of Trees"....some Senior Centers.....visits to some homes of my family....

OH! At the 12/07, trip....we were at the Magic Kingdom.....I was outfitted in my Santa hat with Mickey ears.....a pair of my Santa suspenders.....and regular clothes....white shirt....denim shorts....shoes, socks, a smile and some smell-goods.....

We rode the LillyBelle....the paddle ship....on the upper deck....

When we docked.....the Pilot culled me from the herd and took me aside....
and we jabbered a bit....towards the end.....

He said: "I think I've seen every Santa Disney ever hired and none of them resemble Santa as much as you do. You should seriously think of looking into it if you were ever interested in coming down here after you retire"

I was flabbergasted, flattered and amazed all at the same time....but still....U----------niversal was even better!

Ern keeps telling me I can stay with them If I just want to come down for the Christmas time and Santa stuff....

I told him I should contact Disney....I could be a Santa year round.....greet the crowd each day on Main Street with the Mayor.....sing some songs....shake some hands....do some pictures....

Well....PA knows I have my heart set on Santa....and the GK's have been regaled with stories of what it will be like when I head to the North Pole for good.....

But I bet you a dollar to a doughnut.....the subject of Clown College will be resurected in 2010.....

Look at the time! I should have this head hit that pillow.....Sleep well TK-ers....

:santa:

BP, I'm glad to hear that all is well with you and your family.

I also have a son who has a house closing soon. His closes next week Friday and we are going to help him move his stuff from his apartment.

He is now a paramedic and has moved 5 hours away from us :guilty:

Sorry to hear that PA went thru a rough patch. I had been thinking about her a while back and hoping that she had not had any further problems.

Kara is driving now:eek: Well, if anyone has a vested interest in a certain yellow vehicle, it would definitely be her :thumbsup2

Meeting my friend for coffee & soda at 8:30.

Hey Ann, say hello to Charlene for me please  I really enjoyed meeting her in January and maybe we will get the chance to get together again sometime.

Nothing wrong with being a weisenheimer :confused3

I can definitely picture you doing the Santa gigs. I'm sure that you brought pleasure to a lot of people.

Oh I've also wondered over the years about Snowball.

Have you gotten any further with that?

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains soft upon your fields;
And until we meet again, May God hold you in the Palm of His Hand!

Thanks all. My Mom passed out at my nephews play over the weekend. Luckily her cardiologist was 3 tables away. They took her to the hospital in the ambulance. SHe has type 2 diabetes and her sugar was really high. Turns out her potassium is really low, although she takes a lot of potassium in pill form, and she was dehydrated. She is at my sister's now, but they are going to be running all sorts of tests on her and trying to find the proper adjustment of her many meds. She also has high blood pressure. Luckily I have alot of siblings locally so we will be taking turns with the doctor visits etc.

:wizard:Sending good thoughts out to your mom for a speedy return to good health, PD.

You are lucky to have all that help available.

Unfortunately most of it will fall on me (us) for both sides of our family:guilty:

So sorry to hear about your mom! Keep us posted, please!

My Tuesday was insane. I called Dad at 8:30, when I dropped Kelly at school, to get a ride with him for the day, taking off work myself, but he was already driving down there because he called Mom at 7:30 and there was no answer, and she didn't call him before they took her for the morning tests. In Dad's mind, she was lost (or worse)! I got as freaked out as Dad, called my brother in tears, who said he'd come and get me and we'd drive down - this is not a convenient hospital!!!! ANYWAY, she was having tests, earlier than expected, imagine that! When my bro & I left later that day, she had finished her first barrium, with another due, and a CT scan after that. End result, colonoscopy found a polyp that the 2 previous ones missed - removed, biopsy, no biggie. Endoscopy showed nothing. CT showed no tumor(s). Awaiting chest xray results. On Friday, she swallows a camera-pill, yes a camera-pill, and it will take pics for 24 hours going thru her system. From Sunday til now, she went from no food, to liquid diet, to food, and will resume liquid only on Thursday to prepare for Friday's 'photo-shoot'. ;) Sorry, still trying to find ANY humor in this, but it isn't happening as frequent as it was before. It's just not funny anymore! :sad2:

:confused3

And, of course, Kelly has something every night this week, as usual.

I THINK I need to work Thursday, if for no reason but to get my check for the previous 2 weeks! :thumbsup2

Kelly has her academic fair at school Thurs night, and she chose Walt Disney!! Even I learned a thing or two, but then again, I shared a thing or two with her, as well! ;)

Any of you care to see Kelly's 1st place skating competition? http://vimeo.com/10171295

Thanks for all the support, everyone! :grouphug:

Kim, it sure sounds like your mom is being put thru the wringer :guilty:

All those repeated tests are not that great for your system either.

I hope they find something soon and that they can get her well.

Maybe you guys need to go in search of Dr. House :thumbsup2

He might take her case ;)
