I just saw something very disturbing on the news tonight! It's about how active duty military personnel cannot sue the government.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/01/31/eveningnews/main3776580.shtml

Ugh..I'm so disgusted!:sad2:

I'm going to have to read that case from 1950! Possibly the Congress can pass a law to overrule this. I'll have to see what the case says. We all support our troops whether we agree with the war or not. It sure would be nice if the government would support our troops as well!

Cally~ The pictures are adorable. I have that throw blanket too!

We are having rain...thankfully not ice or snow.

Thanx for the well wishes guys :grouphug: we leave in about an hour~

Welcome Home Robin!!!!! We missed you!

Sewer.... :lmao: nice ::yes::

Beebutter sounds yummy! Hubby has a question for you, why are NZers called Kiwis? :confused3 I tried to look it up but could only find the bird, the fruit and the rugby team :)

Thank goodness your rain finally stopped Brenda~

It was supposed to be sunny but looking at the window it looks ominously grey and windy!

Beebutter sounds yummy! Hubby has a question for you, why are NZers called Kiwis? :confused3 I tried to look it up but could only find the bird, the fruit and the rugby team :)

You got it the first time. What you call kiwis, we call kiwifruit. When we say kiwi, we're referring to our native flightless bird, which is our national symbol. Although we have many native birds, we only have one native mammal (excluding perhaps any aquatic ones), which is the bat (a long tail and a short tail variety). Somehow, the kiwi made a cuter national symbol I guess :)

But think kiwi here, and think NZ. We grew up being called kiwi kids, we were told to be tidy kiwis (put your rubbish in the bin!), if something reminds us of NZ, we say it's a very kiwi thing to do, if merchandise has a tag with a kiwi on it we know it's made in New Zealand (in fact there is a government advertising campaign on at the moment for buying "kiwi made"), at sporting events we don't say go NZers, we say Go kiwis!!!!!!! We're more likely to wear a kiwi pin (or a silver fern pin, a plant which is another national symbol) than a NZ flag pin.

Ok, I'll stop talking now!

Yep you're right...i could absolutely read everyword....'something' was the only one i had to look twice at....

now on the Kiwi subject.. my son's good friend Kaohu - a hawaiian boy is nicknamed Kiwi - cuz his baseball coach couldn't ever pronounce Kaohu properly....so everyone calls him kiwi - other than his parents....he's a cutie too!

Okay, I got the next ten pages read.

Dang you guys were really chatty last week when I was away.

What's the matter, I wasn't here so you couldn't stand the silence:rotfl2:

Here is a pic of her ship leaving port...

robindcl.jpg

:woohoo: :woohoo: Thanks, I love the picture.

I think John Edwards is cute.

I think John Edwards is cute too. I have no idea what YOUR John Edwards looks like but my brother ...... John Edwards is kinda cute :lmao:

JOhn came home, he was at the FLyers game...and now he's gone...his Mom jsut took him to the hospital...cause he fell leaving the game

Oh no poor John. I hope it won't be too long before he has a full recovery. You know the older we get the harder it is to get over this type of thing. :wizard:

:scared1: :scared1: Crazy stuff

Guess what guys?! He broke em! Ayup...BOTH of my DHs elbows are broken.

Poor guy can't even scratch his own nose, both his arms are in half casts, looks like he's gonna dance the "robot."

The worst part is probably the help he now needs in the bathroom :guilty: Can you just imagine not being able to do anything for yourself anymore:scared:

This is a hard one for me........ I like the plastic jugs...So I can reuse them....BUT its sure nice to be able to burn the others and get rid of them easily, when you dont have a need for them...:rolleyes1 ...So Im Undecided..........

here we have another option to choose from also... plastic bags of milk, 3 small bags (approx quart sized) in a large bag.

Oh jeez. You have NO idea what you're getting into :lmao: I'm one of those people who is better at starting conversations and then sitting back to watch them unfold. :rolleyes1

I'm 42, female (despite the avatar photo...), widowed last summer and now actively looking for Mr. Right, a smart *** most of the time, realllllllly into NASCAR and carrying on an imaginary relationship with Kasey Kahne  , have 2 great kids, live to travel (work to be able to travel). What else?

 hello and welcome to you and all the other new posters.

At least losing our old thread has found us some new friends:goodvibes

Da Mudda had a very succesful surgery:thumbsup2 Thanks everyone.

Glad to hear that your mom has made it thru another successful surgery, DU.

:cheer2: I'm NOT last on this list!!!

It was nice and sunny here today but windy and chilly. I got my car cleaned today and an oil change!! ;) Gotta make sure it's clean for Wednesday. I think on Monday I'll take Raj's car to get cleaned.

I'm going to have to read that case from 1950! Possibly the Congress can pass a law to overrule this. I'll have to see what the case says. We all support our troops whether we agree with the war or not. It sure would be nice if the government would support our troops as well!
I always knew that active duty personnel could not sue the government no matter what but I just never took it serious. This story is really sad. How can they document on all their records that he has cancer but never tell him!!!! This is a human life they are dealing with. He could of had a chance. He died way too young. :guilty: And apparently he's not the only one that has gone through this.

When I saw it on the news they showed him on his death bed. He was nothing but bones and could hardly breath. He was about to be interviewed but he died right before the interview. The cameras were there filming!!!:scared1: Ugh, it's just really sad

Cally~ The pictures are adorable. I have that throw blanket too!

Neat! They were selling for $15 when you spent $50 or more!:lmao: (at least I think it was $50)

I got no PM either :guilty: :snooty:

Okay, I got the next ten pages read.

Dang you guys were really chatty last week when I was away.

What's the matter, I wasn't here so you couldn't stand the silence:rotfl2:

No, I think it's all my fault. You see, I believe the TK'ers are just putting up with me and amusing me with idle chit chat so I can get through these last few days :lmao:

:hyper:

And look at my post count Robin!!:teacher: You've taught me well....:rotfl2:

Okay I'm off to the grocery store to pick up some stuff for dinner.

:drive:

Ok, and another random question to match the milk bottle one (or not, depending on how existential your thinking is).

Opinions sought: When you need to use hair pins, do they Have to match your hair color, or do you have no qualms about using ones a different shade? i.e. blondes using brown colored hair pins, or brunettes using auburn colored ones, etc. :confused3

Do people still use hair pins:confused3

The only people I know who do are the kids who compete in various sports...eg.... dance or gymnastics.:confused3

I can overlook the Conservative thing! BUT I can't overlook the MW thing! That is my highest standard of honor!:lmao: :lmao:

I am a Hellman's hater :duck:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Cute in a scary evil sexy sorta way!:thumbsup2 Reminds me of the book...."The Great Gatsby'. There was a Optrician sign that he use to pass on the highway. It was a integral part of the book!:surfweb:

The worst part is probably the help he now needs in the bathroom :guilty: Can you just imagine not being able to do anything for yourself anymore:scared: :
Thats what I  about you. I THOUGHT that but couldnt type it!!!!

(I interupt this regularly scheduled post...for the following question)
