Who feels like a Thread-Killer? Part 6

Morning Betsy and Cally.

It is an extremely windy morning here :cold:

I thought of a conflict that I might have with the June 16th NF meet Betsy, but I'm going to just not go. Who needs to go to dance recital dress rehearsals anyways when there are Threadkillers to meet instead :confused3

I'll just muddle my way through the recital when the time comes, the results probably won't look much different anyways :rotfl2:

I've been to Niagara Falls a few times but I don't know where to pick as a meeting spot, unless you want to pick a restaurant and meet there at a certain time? Maybe somewhere down by the falls, at the bottom of Clifton Hill Road is an easy spot to find or if some of us are staying in the same place we could meet up at the motel. Some motels have conference rooms, maybe we could use one of those for a few hours?

Let me know what motels you have found that you might want to use. Some of them have package deals too.

Good Morning TKer's -

Hope this finds everyone well - I tried reading thru the posts since I last posted and it was like trying to keep up with a Hyper-compulsive-ADHD-caffeine-addicted-individual (actually that was me I was descibing to a "T")

I love all the pictures everyone has been posting - they are so great - I am just not that techinally inclined to figure it all out - one two maybe - but WOW you all are incredible....

Well congrats to everyone who did amazing things this past week - and hello to everyone :wave2:

Well here is what is going on in my house - I will start with the good stuff

Last night right as my Pampered Chef Home show was beginning DH comes FLYING down the steps that we got a SW DING!! "OK hunny calm down - I will check it out" (he another Hyper-compulsive-ADHD-caffeine-addicted-individual - but with common sense) - So I go and check it out - Well KUDOS to my baby - We got our flight to TPA from BWI for $34 and our return flight for $39 - ya heard me $34 & $39 - I am flying a family of 6 to FL for less than $600 I COULD NOT believe it :Pinkbounc

So for the first 1/2 hour of my show everyone wanted to know about this SW DING!! - It was crazy... :crazy:

Ok now for my dilemma (and if anyone has any suggestions or advice - please BRING IT ON) Most of you know that I have custody of my 14 year old cousin, Elizabeth. Well before she came to live with me she had gotten into some trouble with the law (hence why she came to live with DH & I) so we set the rules (with the stipulation that they could change at any given moment - ya know we are new to the whole teenager thing and girl thing) Here are the rules we laid down in the beginning:
1. NO contact with past friends
2. No computer use (we have since lifted this ban)
3. NO LYING in any form including omission of info (this has been explained in many shapes ways and forms so at to NOT mislead)
4. Must maintain a "B" or 3.0 GPA
5. DO NOT get into trouble ( no cops to my house and or in school )
So she a MySpace - as do I - very innocently I came across her's (she is always changing her layout) and I caught some bulletins to her that appeared to be replies back to her (impling she started the conversations) so further investigating - I find out she has ben communicating with MANY MANY people from her past and she has been giving out info that just floored me...She complained that DH & I don't let her go anywhere - it's "effing" boring here - she hates it - that we didn't like her boyfriend (thay have since broke up but I was the one that was defending him to my parents, my grandparents - her mom...well you get the idea) - that there is nothing to do...again you get the idea - So needless to say I am hurt - but I am so angry as well - Her boyfriend broke up with her this week and I have been trying to avoid coming down on her (trying to show some compassion) but I am at my wits end - I am entering unknown territory here and well see I used to be the cool cousin she talked to me about everyting - now I am her legal guardian (her parental unit as she calls me) and I am frightened to make the transition - I could care less about being popular but I just don't know how to handle this one.... :confused3

Sorry this is so long and for dumping my problems on you all - I just didn't know where else to go.....

I'm not one of the tough love parents that love to post on all of the parenting threads around here about how......... you're the parent and not your kid's friend blah, blah, blah stuff. :confused3

SO I'm probably not a good one to give any advice.

Although I will admit that both of my kids seem to have turned out fairly well, good grades at school, no trouble in school or with the police, no drinking, no drugs, no hanging out at night and me not knowing where they are.. etc. etc. INSPITE of my horrible parenting style

How does she treat you to your face? Is she friendly, polite, helpful, does okay at school etc. Maybe she is just blowing off steam with her friends (even though they are forbidden friends) and feels that she has to put on a tough "poor me" attitude for show.

Again, I'm the wrong person to ask and to offer any advice because I am one of the most lenient parents around and also one of the most lucky ones because my kids have been real easy.

I've seen this place before Betsy, walked past it a few times just down the hill from the Comfort Inn.

We never ventured inside though, so I don't know what it's like.

I'm pretty sure there are restaurants nearby. I know there is a Kelsey's for sure. Kelsey's is just a chain restaurant kind of like say Applebees... a varied menu to suit most tastes.

This is exactly the reason I didn't post this on one those threads - The thing about it is - I don't have to do this with my own kids - they are good kids get "B" average grades and other than the occasional "boys will be boys" trouble - my kids are great.....

There was of course more stuff I did NOT put in the previous post due to explict language (and not knowing how to clean it) but I figured you all would get the idea -

Yeah she is all smiles everyting is hunky dorey around us - and I truly recognize the need for her to do the "poor me" thing she is 14 and I understand the "woe is me" and when they don't get their way then it's because we are mean and hateful people (parents that is) - I called my mom and asked her if I hated her this much if I was this unhappy - she said "Yes" so I told my mom I love her and I am sorry that I behaved that way (ah now I get it!!!) so do I chaulk this up to Teenage Agnst or do I delve deeper into the problem and find out if she is REALLY that unhappy being here and offer to send her packing.....DH is really PO'd (sorry for the abusive language) he told me that he is "not here to win a popularity contest and no matter the outcome it is a win-win situation - she either becomes a better person or she goes away and we save money" callus I know but that is DH - very black and white - I am the emotional one....

Anyway I ramble.....thanks

Hiya Threadkillers! My computer is lacking internet connection at home - don't know why, but it is. Today is a 12 hour day because we have a staff meeting and tomorrow is scheduling Thursday - so it's busy!
