I'm guessing that your mother is still a fairly young lady.

What kinds of things does she normally like to do?

She'll be 52 next month. She works in the yard (mowing and stuff, not too much "tending"), she rides her waverunner on the lake, she rides her motorcycle, she shops, she has a second job with Aloette Cosmetics, she loves being outdoors. She's always wanting us to go hiking or stuff when we have days off together. I really don't know how she'll handle this. But we could get her a headset for her phone and she could do some of her Aloette over the phone, but she can't do that all the time. At least it might help supplement the income though. Who knows what kind of financial hit this will be.

Hmm, that's going to take some thinking about.

I suppose if she had a discman, she could listen to those audio books or her favourite kinds of music.

It's not really a good time to be getting outside since the weather is taking a turn towards winter.

I'll give it some thought and if I can come up with some good ideas I will let you know. :scratchin

Good evening all  Just a note before I go off to bed and head out on our trip north (riding motorcycle up the Blue Ridge Parkway to VA, then see son in Va Beach, ride across to Tenn, and down the mountains on Tenn side then home). So I won't be able to post for a week and a half!! :earseek:

Ophie, update me when I get home on your mom. I'd like to send a care package when I get back. Was she at fault in the accident? If not maybe the other persons insurance will have to pay disability...

Robin, loved the DVD's. You both looked great. I especially thought Liz has got some talent for a first ballet. I thought their routine was one of the best! :cheer2:

Betsy, sounds like your DGD is going to do great on the piano. Check pawn shops....

Hi Robin, How is the family and friend post op? Hope everyone is well.

Ann, I'll miss ya. I'll call you while I'm away. Love ya bunches!!

Hi BP, TZM and Cally :wave2:

Okay in regards to the secret santa...My DH has agreed to draw names out of a hat so even I won't know and PM (or I may even have him stick the name with a corresponding likes list in an envelope and off in the mail....What do you guys think about that? :confused3 I will make a list of questions for all involved to answer. I write that name and list of likes on a paper and DH will draw the name and place it in the envelope. I'll make sure he doesn't give anyone themselves :rotfl: :teeth:

Did that make sense? Kind of tired worked a long day today and up early tomorrow. Heading out about 5-6am!! :sunny: (should have been a moon!) :rotfl2:

Keep me posted. I may not be able to catch up when I get back, so I hope I can get a summary of what I missed.

Take Care everyone. Chat with you all later..... :grouphug:

TN... single vehicle motorcycle accident. PLEASE be careful on your trip!!

tn ~~ that sounds like a perfect solution to the decision of exchangees for the secret santa. Then it will truly be a secret for everyone involved.

Thanks for the kind word about the DVD's :teeth:

Have a safe and wonderful trip. :moped:

I don't know. I shall send him over here! ;)

Good night all.... :cloud9:

As long as there is a limit, I am interested! It might give me another excuse to go to WDW just one extra time! LOL!

:guilty: My first love died in a motorcycle accident. :( Motorcycles scare me, and I used to ride with him.

ophie, please clean your PM box. It's FULL!!!! ;)

Ann, here's my situation on the limit thing, just so whoever I get doesn't misunderstand, and everyone here understands as well: I am a bargain shopper (not CHEAP, but bargains!). I buy loads of stuff at deeply discounted prices. :teeth: I have a stash of stuff at all times - I'm ready for giving on a moments notice. ;) But, I don't keep my receipts, so I have no way of knowing what I spent on most things. ex. I bought a lot of Hallmark ornaments after C'mas last year, 50-75% off, so if I send a $25 ornament to someone, I'll have seemingly reached the limit, when in fact I have a long way to go! ;) :goodvibes There, as long as that's understood, I'm ok with the rules. ;)

TN, please be careful.

Still no word on my friend. We went by the house today to drop off the gift bags, and they weren't home. Hopefully they were picking her up from the hospital.

My SIL is doing fine tho. Stopped by her today too. My bro stayed home again today, but I can't see how much help he was when all he did was play video games when I was there. Same thing he always does.

Driver's license facility - just under 2 hours to get a license that takes literally about 10 minutes. :sad2: BUT, my license is actually more correct, in the WEIGHT description than ever before! :rotfl: I actually OVERstated it by a few lbs! :rotfl2:

Anybody else having trouble with the extra smilies? :confused3

Well, back to work tomorrow. :guilty:

A cousin of Rick's also died in a motorcycle accident when he was just 20 years old. Rick was also 20 at the time, and was a pallbearer, so it had a big impact on us.

He died 3 months before we got married :sad2:

Motorcycles also scare me ::yes:: Absolutely no protection on those things.

Kim...... I have read your explanation and I understand your situation ;) . I know that there are plenty of real bargains out there to be had.

Whoever asked if the shipping was included in the limit.... I hope not because the shipping will be a big part of my cost. I don't mind paying the cost to ship my parcel but I do not want to lower the cost of my secret santas gift to compensate for it.

Wait a minute now....I don't know what I am getting myself into here. You already have the gifts picked out and you don't know who you have? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Living down here in FL, I have yet to have a XMAS tree. Ornaments not so good for me. So, please splain what this is all about. Thanks.

I don't have any gifts picked out at all yet.

I would want to wait until I got my name and try to find something to suit the person.

Sometimes though, if you are a bargain shopper, you can have things already on hand that might suit the person you are getting the gift for.

I think that is what Kim means.

Thank you Robin, and TZM, you have NO IDEA the loads of stuff I have! Besides, I ALWAYS add currently bought/person specific items as well. ;) Hope that explains a little better, and if I get you, I won't send any ornaments. ;) That was just ONE example. :p
