A very early good morning Threadkillers and lurkers!

Well, tinknutt has the DVD and is going to try to watch it before she goes on vacation and give it to me so I can watch it. She bought some stuff for the box to pass along - I pitched it so I get to say it's from us - but she has the spirit-of-the-shopper insider her....I do NOT!

Speaking of shopping.....I think this secret santa is going to be a ton of fun. However, :invisible ink: Kim and tinknutt :/end invisible ink: we need to make sure we stay within our limit! No matter how cute the whoosie-whatsit is!

DalPal sounds like you had a great time with the birthday party....hope you recover well!

Robin - eating too much at Thanksgiving is what you're supposed to do! This year we're doing thanksgiving at tinknutts. Christmas eve hors d'oervers at my place before midnight mass and we're all sleeping in on Christmas day!

Kim - we're thinking of you and your friend today. I hope everything goes well for hysterectomy! I know when I had mine - I was a NEW woman! I hope the same goes for her.

BP - glad PA is doing well....keep up the good work!

Good Morning Ann,

You are an early poster this morning!....

I have never done a SS ...so let me know the rules, when/if we all get into it...It does sound like a cool idea though...how do we know who we are giving to?....

Pans QT is going to be taking her first piano lession this evening! ..She has been playing a keyboard by ear for the last few years..and she can play quite well....but its by ear, she doesnt know how to read music...sooo my DH and I thought we would get her into lessions....She can already play some classicals like "lovers concerto", "Min.waltz"...and songs from Phantom...and of course a good amount of disney songs ...she just teaches herself!..I cant wait to see her show the teacher what she can do...I think the teacher will be impressed...(but Im grandma..so Im biased )...anyway it works out because her bus goes right past my road ..so all she will have to do is get off there.and Ill be waiting

Well thoses are my big plans for the day....Unless it gets nicer and we get some sun....then I have to plant and mow...

By the way, shouldnt we have heard from Colleen by now? Hope shes having a good time....Im sure she is and that may be why she hasnt posted....too busy

Hi TKers. Ophie wanted me to let you all know that we got word last night that her Mom was in an accident yesterday evening. She broke her left hand and may or may not need surgery to set it correctly. Also, her back CT showed breaks at T12 and L1 which she may or may not need surgery to fix. We don't have any other updates right now. If you guys wouldn't mind, some and would certainly be appreciated. Thanks guys.

OHHHH...I love it!

I think it should stay under the tree until at least Christmas eve...(we always open up one gift on christmas eve)...this way you have to have it sitting under the tree ...wondering what it is... ..but thats just my input ...Ill go along with anything everyone else thinks...

A rainy, drizzly day here. The house is getting much cooler and we may just have to turn the heat on soon to get the chill out of the house

Betsy ~~ good luck to Miss QT with her piano lessons. I hope she enjoys learning to read music. It is a good skill to have, even though it will not likely ever save your life

Yes, where is Colleen Maybe she is having computer problems or she is just having so much fun and is tired out by the end of the day.

Ophie ~~ so sorry to hear about your mom and her accident. It's so hard to manage with a broken wrist. I remember when my mom broke hers a lot of years ago. Does your mom have it in a cast?

About the secret santa ~~ I agree with putting the gift under the tree. It's sad but I get very few gifts under our tree, so if I have one from my secret santa that makes more for me to open on Christmas Day. Although at that point, the secret santa will not be so secret anymore

Are there rules as to what you send? Should we get one larger item that totals close to the limit, or can we get a bunch of smaller things instead Do we just use our own intuition or are we going to get an idea of what our secret santa would like to have?

It sounds like fun Do we really have to wait until the end of October to find out our name? I'm too impatient for that There are so few of us, you'll soon know who wants to sign up and who doesn't.

Ophie - P&PD coming your way. We'll be hoping and praying for a speedy and complete recovery for your mother. We're here when you need to dump or vent.

DalPal - good luck with PansQT's lessons - let us know how it's going! I remember when I took piano lessons (as an adult).....my teacher suggested another way to express myself!

I agree with Robin & DalPal on the secret santa - let's wait til Christmas Eve or Christmas day. Also, I think whatever you want to purchase - as long as it's within the limit and what you think your person would want - is best.

Robin - it was pretty and warm here today. FINALLY! It's been yucky and rainy all last week!

Susan - I've got those two packages made up - I'll probably mail them tomorrow. What are you going to do if two people pick the same number? Go by whoever send the PM first? Should we give an alternate number?

Kim - thinking of you and hoping your friend is doing well. With luck, she'll really start to feel better soon! Let us know how you are.

Well, DH and I have our monthly dinner with some friends - but one of them is sick, so we decided we're gonna go anyway! Ya'll take care and we'll chat later!

Evening everyone.

Wouldn't it just be easier for Susan to put all the names in a hat and draw them out one at a time Maybe put the names down alphabetically and then draw out for their secret santa?

I'm sure she will work something out.

My mom called me with an interesting story today. She and my dad went for a drive and went by the cemetery way out in the country where a lot of her family is buried.

They drove by one of her uncles graves. (my grandmother came from a family of 14) As they went by they noticed something on the gravestone and stopped and looked. It was an envelope addressed only to COUSIN It was in saran wrap, and two zip lock bags to protect it from the weather and duct taped to the gravestone.

My mom says to herself...... well, I'm a cousin so I guess I'm going to have a look and see what it is.

It was a note from a daughter of another uncle who wanted to contact members of my mom's family. Interesting way to do it . It could have sat out there for many, many months before someone happened upon it. There was no date on the note.

My mom is going to contact her at some point and then return the note back out to the gravestone and see if someone else comes along and finds it.

Wow! That is an interesting way to try to contact family members. I guess you never know what your cousin's last names are - with marriages. Clever and determined....I'd say she is.

Yep, I think Tinknutt can put names in TWO hats! Pull one out of each hat and pair the two up for secret santa's. As long as it gets done - I'm game! I'm very excited about this. I haven't participated in one for years!

Well, we didn't go to Sorbello's as planned - couldn't see eating the carbs in pasta without good reason. So we went to Arby's and I had a sandwich minus half the bun and we split a (fattening but delicious) order of poppers - I had two.....

I've never heard that term before.

I'm not much of an Arby's fan. I really only like their chicken strips. The one we have here is just soooooo slooooooowwwww, it's not even funny So I never go there, besides it's about the furthest away fast food place that we have and not easy to get to.

A popper is a piece of Jalepeno filled with cream cheese - dip it in breading and deep fried! Dip THAT in ranch dressing and viola! A small slice of heaven at your local fast food eatery!

Our Arby's is slow, too, but it's really quiet and we like that. Plus, they serve coke products, which I prefer over Pepsi.....I know you're a pepsi fan, but I can't help it!

Tom says the next time you're in Florida, stop in Jacksonville and we'll pop for the poppers!

BTW - he's lurking over my shoulder!
