See?

I walked to school, but it doesn't snow in Florida and I was lucky enough to have shoes without holes. However, it DOES rain in Florida. On the days it rained - Dad usually drove us to school.

My kids have NEVER, EVER WALKED to school!!! Oh, the THOUGHT!

Mine never walked to school either. There were times when they walked home from school though.

I always said if they don't come home after school when they are supposed to I can go looking for them. If they don't show UP at school when they are supposed to, I might not hear about it for hours. Mind you they didn't walk home all the often either even though the elementary school was like 10 minutes walk from home.

Kim, I had one of those talkers too. Alex didn't talk until he was 3 and then he never shut up again!!!! Even now he talks all of the time. Sad to say but I tune him out a lot of the time. I try to listen with half an ear at least. When he was little I used to have to ask him to be quiet for just a little while.

Yeah, but on those hot, sticky Florida days - I walked! Let me tell you, there is NO make-up invented that can withstand that! Basically I started with the make-up on my face and ended up with it around my neck!

Besides the Marine Corps toughened me up pretty quick after that! Now I am the Disney Warrior before you.............who whines at the drop of a hat!

Oooh, my knee!

OMGosh! Kelly is EXACTLY like that! I was near calling her Ped. when she wouldn't talk, to refer us to a speech pathologist, when lo and behold, she started talking, and HASN'T QUIT YET!!! Sometimes she even talks in her sleep, and the next day I just have to tell her she didn't even SLEEP quietly! :earseek:

I walked to and from school until the sixth grade. Up until that time I went to the little country school around the corner. 4 classrooms and an old school house out the back that had grades 5 & 6 in it.

When I started in Grade 6, they decided to close all of the little country schools and consolidated them into 2 bigger schools on the edge of the city (north side and south side) This new school was only about 3/4 of a mile further down the road from my old school but we were bussed to school from then on.

Kids `~~ gotta love em!!!!!

Alex wasn't a singer though. Just a talker.

When he was little he had the shrillest voice I have ever heard. When the kids were all out in the neighbourhood playing, I just had to stick my head out the door and give a listen :listen: . I could always pick out Alex's voice and I knew exactly where the kids were all hanging out :earboy2:

The 2 weeks isn't for the kids,IT's FOR the TEACHERS!
It's so they don't have a meltdown  before Christmas. Soft teachers! lol

BTB- does anyone know what that 'little running guy' under peoples address tags means....it's on Kevins tag and I've seen it on others around the boards.

:charac2: Ann...guess what the tempature was today, here in Peterborough.......-20*C

 =I'm FREEZING. It's now offical....I'm going to be a "SnowBird" when dh decides to stop working or I get alot of money!

Speaking of talkers...........

I forgot to tell you! When DH and I went to b'fast this morning, our DGS said "Nana" & "Papa" to Tom and I. I thought I was gonna cry!

Later tonight, DD & DSIL filmed it for us and e-mailed it! It was sooo cute. He's finally starting to talk - he'll be 2 in January.

He's also discovered & LOVES Nana's "magic purse". Everytime I open my magic purse, there's something in there for him. When I go in it, his eyes open wide........adorable. The flip side of this (also good news) is I can't dig in my purse to pay for my b'fast - DH's gotta dig in his wallet!

Wendy! Howdy! We missed YOU, too! Yep, I think I know......he's got AOL Instant Messaging! I've also seen the Y! for Yahoo. I'm guessing he's offering his AOL IM name for those interested. It's an educated guess, but I'm gonna go back and click on it!

ETA: I was right! (I love when that happens!)

 Wendy..... to quote someone we all know and love....

ayup ( :p ) ~~~~ it was pretty darn chilly here today too!!

Cool, Ann, talking grandson. How exciting!!! What kind of goodies does Nana have in her magic purse.

Ooh, Kim - that hurts! I couldn't laugh because I was too busy wincing! Now Nutsy's blue & purple reply..........

Wendy, it looks like you don't have to wait too long to get somewhere warm (looking at your countdown timer)

I agree with the snowbird thing. Pretty high up on my list of priorities too. Give me somewhere that I can wear my shorts most every day and I would be happy!!

Robin, I had a boo-bah today.....not sure how they're spelled - but those things are freaky! However, he seems to like them. The other day, I got the McDonald's toddler toy. I've had dollars, fire trucks, sprites and he just LOVES my cell phone if I forget something!

Okay, it's time for me to sign off. DH said the magic words. I think he'll never buy me b'fast again.........a girl's gotta have her priorities. Wendy - you're goin' to Cancun? Have fun! Remember, the girls gone wild cameras are everywhere!

It was great chatting with ya'll.......I'll catch up tomorrow and whine about my knee some more then!
