Who else was NOT impressed with the planning DVD?

It's okay. I don't like the fact that they don't spend enough time on each attraction or resort. Too many quick flashes. I believe they tried to make it slick to attract a younger, non-Disney audience instead of trying to appeal to Disney regulars like ourselves. Of course, if you've never been to WDW, I don't know how you can tell what's there since they don't spend enough time showing the attractions. :confused3

Dave does all the resorts and Rest of the World, which was awesome!!! To really get the full effect of the DVD you need to click on every single option, like we do. They went to the resorts and showed us things that we haven't even noticed before, and we've been a few times to WDW too!

Well, I'd have to respectfully disagree with your resorts assessments. I've been to many of the resorts and found the resort info on the dvd significantly lacking. They sure didn't show me anything I didn't already know. In fact, they showed me very little of what I did know.

My family was disappointed because we received the very same video as last year. Apparently the new one is not avail for canadians until March sometime, Ithink was what I read on another post, Oh well I guess we'll just have to wait and order it then. :sad2:

We received our planning video last month and love it! As long as it is Disney, it is all good! We are planning a big trip with our nieces this July and we watch the video every time they come over. We are hooked!!!!

We thought it was cute. I didn't find the hosts annoying at all...DH and I laughed at the relaxation guy!

I didn't like the order of things. I was really getting mad thinking that they left out AK (LOVE AK!!) and then it popped up later after other things. I don't understand that.

The disc for the computer is pretty worthless, IMO. All it does it point you to the WDW website. I wish you could actually do planning things with the disc.

The people didn't really bother me. They were showing different ways you can enjoy the parks. The bench guy shows that you don't have to go here nor there to enjoy yourself. The thrill rider shows all the rides that they can enjoy. The women shows the other rides and attractions. The only real bad thing about the dvd was that it was to quick. I think they could of made it longer and slowed down everything. You were wright I told my sister there was mickey and he was gone same with pluto. I don't think this year helped at all to draw anyone to WDW. I wish the new wishes show was longer.

I will say, even though we liked last year's video better, that the new one does a better job showing the water parks. We are going this summer for the first time to TL and it was nice seeing the scenes on the new video of this water park.

Other than that, we liked last year's better.

It took exactly a month for our DVD to arrive. I am sort of neutral on it. I didn't NOT like it, but I thought there was way too little coverage of rides. I felt like they just told you the names of the attractions without really elaborating - not much help if you are truly trying to "plan".

I basically just ordered one to see if it would help me get a code. So far that hasn't happened! And our CD Rom doesn't work so I will have to take it to work to see if I like that part of the kit.

Hated it! If I had watched this dvd before my first trip to WDW, I would have never gone at all. Thought all the hosts were annoying, to say the least. Scenes flashing by at the speed of light, hosts pushing their faces up to the camera so that you could see nothing in the back ground. Luke repeating that everything was "SWEET" and the two girls saying that everything was "AMAZING" over and over and over. No Disney charm. Big disappointment!

I liked the hosts - especially Erin - they were fun was a fast paced long commercial. People who have gone to the trouble of ordering the DVD are past the commercial stage - it's time for a bit more in-depth advice. I really liked the idea of offering a focus for guests w/ small children but it wasn't real information...mostly just pictures of the host surrounded by children.

I don't think it is a very good introduction to WDW for anyone who has never been there before. It's fun for us, knowing what all those things are flashing by really fast, but I can't imagine anyone getting a good idea of the parks based on this video.

I thought it was pretty vague, but overall it was the best they've ever made(shows you how good the one's in the past have been..lol). I'm guessing this is the first one they've made in DVD format? Anyways, I like it better that way because I can watch what I feel like watching. I've been collecting these videos for a few years now, because I'm a Disney World addict, like most of you, and I need my fix of pixie dust every few days. I wish they would give the attractions a little more credit, and spend more time describing them. I bet if they did a poll of who requests these videos, they would find it's the disney maniacs that request them the most! They need to gear it towards us more, also giving first-timers a good description of what to expect.

I just got around to watching the new DVD, and call me old school but I had my problems with the look of this DVD. I think it would be fine if aimed toward a younger audience (whatever a younger audience is) but the editing and camera moving is a bit to much for me. At one point I just randomly timed the number of cuts over a one minute period- there were 56, almost one a second. Wheww. And I like upbeat hosts, but please one less cup of coffee before filming. I will never be able to ride Tower of Terror or Rock'n'Roller Coaster again without thinking about the "hurl factor", thank you young teenage dude.

Anyhow, got this planning to let my father watch it before his trip to WDW next month, but as I was watching it realized he would think I was nuts having him view this particular WDW video. As an experiment I'm going to let my 17 year old daughter view it and see what her reaction is.

Thumbs up for having two discs, one for DVD and one for computer, nice package.

I thought the video was cute actually! It was entertaining. I think that Disney doesn't want to go into too much detail because they want you to actually come to DW and they don't want to show you every little detail. They want you to come see it for yourself and they want to leave you wanting more.

I liked it because it was different. But it did make me nautious to watch. Too much jumping around. Plus my kids didn't seem to like it as much as last. But, who really cares. Its a free dvd.

Here is a question that is sort of related to the new video. In the literature include with the video, the castle is shown with some interesting changes (Peter and Mary in flight for one). Although I don't find and notes mentioning the additions, I assume this is something they are doing for the up coming celebrations. Does anyone have any details?

Thanks,

Awdwnut

I think I recognized "Dave" as the guy who was in Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular though.

We liked the video.... of course we now have a whole collection of Disney Planning DVD's so we can just watch the best features of each!

diggin out the Travel Channel tapes...they are much more motivational.

Hated this dvd.
