Just wondering who else thought their first Disney trip was going to be their once in a lifetime trip. We are now DVC members and have a lifetime of trips!!!!

Susan

We first went in 1987 when it was only MK, EPCOT and Seaworld but we were hooked from the start - been back about 10 times now and each time gets better and better!

Yes, I'll own up to that one! :teeth:

We were still on the flight home from our first trip (1995) when we started talking about 'next time'.

me too !! we went for our once in a lifetime trip last november....we go again next month :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

After a lifetime of wishing I went on my first trip in Oct '02 and regardless of how much I wanted to go back I never really thought I would be able to.

I then went again in Aug '05 and me & DF are starting saving for my 3rd & his 2nd 'once in a lifetime' trip!

Also, Gavin's M&D were convinced it was going to be a 'been there done that type thing' They are now talking of returning in 2007. In my opinion the only thing stopping them going back in 2006 is because they had already booked for Cyprus!

That's exactly what we said and on the last day I told DH I wished we hadn't come ! The reason being, it was so magical I thought it would have been better not knowing how magical it was, than knowing and not being able to visit again!

We decided there and then, outside the entrance tolls to MK that we would revisit and NEVER stay off site again.

We first went in 1997 and have been back 6 times since.

Keeps getting better and better.

same for us, first trip 2003, tried to cram as much as we could in as we would never afford to come back! went in may this year for my two DD's birthdays, planning to return in 2007 with sneaky DLP trip on the cards to keep the magic going!
I read at the end of someones signature once...one holiday in florida is never enough...how true! :cool1:

Our trip of a lifetime was our honeymoon last year.Never thought we would be able to go back but, we had our second trip in feb this year and i'm sure there will be a 3rd to follow when we have saved enough money. :cool1:

1997 was my trip of a lifetime. Check out my signature.

we went June 97 on our "trip of a lifetime"
I had wanted to go since I was a child.. and never made it..

We got back and booked for September 98 - then we got back from that trip of a life time and booked for May 99...

then Dec 2000, May 2001, Sept 2001, Sept 2002, May 2003, Oct, 2003, May 2004, Aug 2004, April 2005 and just coming up for August 2005

Not bad for a trip of a lifetime!!!

Before my first trip in 1992 I had expected to be totally underwhelmed - something to be endured for the sake of the kids. Trips 13 and 14 are already booked and 15 is well into the planning stage. Just goes to show that you should keep an open mind!

Yup, I can put my hand up to this also.

1996 was my 'once in a lifetime' trip with my older sister, her hubby and their little one (who was 18 months at the time - she's 11 now!!).

Since then I have been back 3 more times (so 4 in total) with 3 trips to DLP in amongst those trips too!

We are saving for our next trip but as we want to start a family soon, it won't be until our 1st little one is about 2 1/2 so prob 2008-2009 some time.

Can't wait!!!

You can never only go to WDW once.
I don't know anyone who has been who has said they would never go back.

xx

Ohio Tony's mother paid for our first trip in 2001.We couldn't afford it and she said she wanted to see the kids at WDW before she "got too old to enjoy it".
It was everyones first trip and we were sure that we would never be able to afford to go back.

Well.....we always wanted to take the kids on a cruise with us so why not make it a Disney Cruise in 2002?!

Then along came Disney Visa's offer of buy 4 days get 3 free in 2004.

Now in 2005 we couldn't pass up free dining.

They seem to be making it hard to NOT afford to go !

BUT SERIOUSLY...next year NO VACATIONS . Our budget needs to recover

"Once in a lifetime"! LOL - We also thought this, we spent 6 years saving up and waiting for our youngest DD to be of an age where we thought she would remember it all and finally went in April 2004, like I said this was to be the once in a lifetime trip. I was so looking forward to it that I was sure I would be disappointed - no way!!!
We decided on the plane home that we had to return which we will be doing for 3 weeks in April 2007, we are now booked for DLRP next week and for Christmas with a 3rd visit planned for next summer!:rotfl:

this is a great thread.......gives me hope that we will be able to afford to go back ( it sure doesn't seem that way now !!!!)

I never had any interest in visiting Disney - had never really thought about it but DD had wanted to go from being about 6. Shortly before DH's dad died he said he wanted us all to have a lovely holiday together so the next Easter we 4 plus DH's brother and family all went to WDW. Well, as someone has already said:"Check out my signature"!!!! Well and truly hooked - for life!!!!

I thought it would be my one and only trip as DH had no interest in going to Disney and before we went he made it quite clear we were not spending everyday going to theme parks. :rotfl2: I was surprised how much he loved it and in fairness not just Disney but Sea World and Universal. So much so we decided to go back and try and see more. :flower:

Hi,
I'd always loved things American since I watched the moonlanding in 1969, I had a trip booked to Jersey with my then girlfriend in 1980 when we saw a news article about how cheap Florida was due to the exchange rate so we switched our holiday and went to the USA instead. I've now lost count how many times I've been and would live there tomorrow give half a chance but I guess I'll just have to settle for my DVC membership. By the way the exchange rate when I first went was $2.40 to the £ !!

Mick.

Same here, the once in a lifr time trip had us hooked! This year I am going with DH(DB) and it is his first trip, he is seeing it as his once in a life time and thinking of other places to go next year....... yeah right, we all know what will happen, but I daren't say it out loud, just in case he trys to prove me wrong!
