Who else sleeps with a NOISY person??

Ain't marriage grand. :)

Just playing. I have the opposite problem ... John (in his skinny 6'1" glory) literally sleeps like the dead. I have at times held my hand an inch or two over his mouth to feel for breath and make sure he's still alive. :)

My husband is ok, but the dogs are horrible. They clik-clak their claws around the house all night, whine and nudge us to let them out, chase cats, and if they hear an animal outside, they bark. I think they need some Risperdal.

Thank goodness I sleep by myself and have no noise to wake me up! When I used to stay over my boyfriends house I would end up on the living room couch because I coudln't sleep a wink when he snored..any kind of snoring wakes me up...I remember as a kid my dad would snore down the hall and it would keep me up even through 2 closed doors!! I think thats when I started sleeping with the TV on because it sure beat the sounds of snoring! I remember my mom used to sleep on a pull out couch in the living room to try to get some sleep over the buzzsaw in the bedroom!

IOr even better, he wasnt even asleep

Mine will do this and he will get mad at me for tell him that he was asleep and snoring. He doesn't get on my good side that way.

That's great advise Jeff! Thanks for sharing it with us. :)

Love the graphic too!! :thumbsup2

Well, my DH has sleep apnea, so we have the noise of the CPAP machine. Then, he can't slep without the sound of his fan by his head. And he gets hot when he sleeps, so he has another fan aimed at his body. In the summer there is a fan at the foot of the bed as well as one under the ceiling vent aiming towards his other fans.

I don't know if DH snores, I can't hear him over all that noise!

(as an aside, DH says I flop around when I sleep, kicking and hitting him through the night, so I guess we are even)

:rotfl2: Sleep ..what is that? My Dh snores so loud the neighbors have
called the cops. Saying that there is strange noises coming from here.

 This would be me after so many years without sleep.

Mine isn't THAT bad. He's just a noise-maker. I'm not cursed with physical assaults on a nightly basis. DH started falling asleep on the couch with the tv on about a year and a half ago. It's GREAT! When I hear him snoring, I go out to the LR and turn the lights and tv off and check the door locks and head back to the BR. He makes his noise in the early hours of sleep but is relatively quiet the rest of the night. I'm able to fall asleep (and sleep for 2-3 hours) before he comes to bed in the wee hours of the morning. It's pretty much become a nightly ritual. I love reading in bed after DH and DD9 have gone to sleep.

use to. in the beginning, pushing dh on his side used to work. Now he has mastered snoring in every position. also, his legs started shaking. every 20 seconds, you could set your watch by it. I sleep on an Aerobed in another room. or one of the kids beds if they are away.

You know who I'm talking about!! The person who sleeps next to you night after night, and just WON'T shut up!!! :sad2:

For me, this would be DH.

Now I admit I am a little bit of light sleeper, but how can one sleep with all the NOISE!!!!

He grinds his teeth, smacks his lips, flip-flops, scratches his hairy belly, mumbles, snores, steals the blankets, thinks he needs to abruptly swing his enormously heavy arms on top of me, knees me in my back when all of the sudden he's lying on an angle and occasionally knocks me on the head while he's flopping around (I have given him a few knocks or two over the years as retaliation!!! :lmao: ).

This is almost a NIGHTLY event!!! :furious:

I am now plotting my revenge!! :stir:
:rolleyes1

Anyone else feeling my pain??? :charac2:

If it wasnt for the part about the scratching his hairy belly I would have thought you sleep with my DF every night!! :lmao: :lmao:

There are nights when I will purposely hit him but pretend its on accident because then it makes him move and he'll stop snoring if not just for a moment.. :lmao: :lmao: He drives me crazy!

I believe that twitching and constantly moving your legs like that is symptoms of
'restless leg syndrome', another reason so many people sleep soo poorly.

People with Sleep Apnea almost never get to REM sleep - the most restful and recharging sleep you can have. It also means that you cannot dream.

Please, you are really doing a DIS-service to your spouse or SO by not suggesting they get tested. The worst they can say is "Hey, you don't have sleep apnea."

And this would be why I am DISing so late at night :rolleyes1 ....DH was just displaying some of the noises he makes...he has a gag/cough that is so loud/harsh that it is like peeling me off the ceiling! It never fails, I just get to sleep and BAM! :scared1: He jolts me awake...several times a night. I can't believe he doesn't wake himself up. It is the one downside of vacation travels...all of us are sleep deprived due to DH's sound effects! Of course, apologies in advance to any folks in surrounding rooms to us... Sweet dreams :cloud9: to those who can have them!

My husband has sleep apnea as well. Snores and breaths really loud. He makes this strange clicking sound when he is ready to turn over. I swear it is the same clicking sound my mother makes when she is irritated about something. (my whole life I have tried to make that sound and physically can't).
Sadly, the bed hogginess and violent movement in the bed forced us to buy a king size bed. (sticking him with pins did not work) We thought the problem was solved. Nope. He still managed to find me.....and we had what appeared to be the area of a double bed on the other side of my husband. :furious: So, after 15 years of sleeping on the same side, I made him switch sides with me. It took him about 5 months to find me, then we were back to square one. I now have 2 king sized pillows between us. Amazingly it seems to be working for now. :guilty: I'd rather not have to use them. It seems so distant and childish "You are touching me"....."You are on my side"...things you hear kids saying in the back seat of a car. I can deal with sleepless nights due to snoring, but how is a person expected to relax when they are only offered the a small triangular upper corner of their side of the bed? I woke up most mornings dangling on the edge of the bed......like someone laying on a tightrope. WHy can't he just stay on his side of the bed without a boundary line?

Finfan, it is unfortunate when you have to explain to your spouse, the only reason you are up so late on the computer......most nights 2:30am, is because going to bed would be no different.

Jenny, my husband is another of those FAN sleepers. Yes, due to him, we all need the fan noise for sleep, but he has to have the fan in his face blowing like a hurricane. I just can't deal with that. I told him only lowest setting and it has to be aimed at an angle furthest from my side of the bed. Well, the air still bounces off the wall and right in my direction, but at least it is not direct. Often I catch him changing the angle. And he wonders why I wake up with headaches most mornings

Once again I ask. Do they make an invisible fence for beds? :scratchin

I have suggested to DH that he go to doctor but he wont. he is already on high blood pressure medicine and doesnt desire to take anything else. what does he care? he thinks he sleeps okay. like talking to a wall.

My DH just says the oddest things in his sleep. Last week he had stitches in his thumb because of an accident with a steak knife and he yells out in the middle of the night, "quick turn on the lamp" and I am scared b/c I think he's busted his finger back open and I'm all like what's wrong, what's wrong? and he says "just do it, quick" so I turn on the overhead light and say "what's wrong" again and he says, "frogs are attracted to lamp shades" Huh?

And then last night I was coming to bed and he walks into the living room and smiles at me funny and then goes back to bed. I have no idea. It's stuff like that allof the time.

Well I try several things with DH and nothing works. Elbowing him, trying to hold his nose shut, shouting, For the Love of God will you please stop snoring, o.k. that was in pure desperation. Nothing, nothing, ever, ever never works. I am miserable and such a cranky bear in the morning all because of dh, but there is a little hope right around the corner, dh is going away for a long, long, 2 week business trip out of the country in may, so I will finally get some sleep, oh no, but then again I will probably be up worrrying about him etc, since he wont be able to contact me too much. :confused3

I went on a cruise and the guy in the NEXT room kept me up with his snoring...I don't know how anyone could possible be sharing a room with him and getting any sleep!!
Now I pack a white noise machine to drown out any snorers in rooms next to us!

OMG I am NOT the ONLY ONE!!! Thank God .... my DH snores and when I say snore I mean SNOREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. mY HOUSE IS OVER 90 FEET LONG AND YOU CAN HEAR HIM ALLLLLLL THE WAY AT THE OTHER END! I am not talking loud I am talking ear damageing. Kicking him doesn't work, pinching his nose doesn't work. I flick him in the temple nope punch him jab him and pinch his body nope nope nope! I don't get much sleep I get frustrated mad and upset. rolling him on his side use to work , not now and he isn't over weight so it isn't that it is sleep apnea I am sure I hear him breath snore breath then I hear him stop breathing for abit then a gasp for air. Every night over and over!He also talks in his sleep about forklifts no clue why he doesn't drive one! LOL he rambles about stuff he gets up sleep walking I think because I have caught him in the bathroom sleeping on the toiletLOL not going to the bathroom or anything just sitting on it in his undies sleeping LOL He won't see a doc about it so I have no clue all I know is I don't sleep well!
