Who else seems to experience this?

I seem to go in spurts. Sometimes I get a cold every trip - either while there or when I get home. But I had been spared for about two years.

Had Been being the operative words.

I stayed at POR 12/2, then the Wonder for 4 days. On Thursday 12/7 while at MVMCP I started with the sore throat. It's now Sunday 12/17 and I'm still coughing and snuffling. It was a horrible cold - lots of coughing and having to sleep sitting up. I blame the atmosphere on the ship. Everything is so closed in on those decks. Loved the cruise overall though.

But here is a great cold website. It does say the incubation is 8-12 hours, so my theory on the ship could be a wash (pun intended). Read the part of how a cold virus spreads - very interesting, especially about the tear ducts in your eye.

My friend thinks you get a cold by being out in the cold. Everytime I have a cold, she tells me that I should dress warmer.

Airborne is a product that desolves in your water bottle. My dad bought it for me and it has kept me sick free (and I always have allergy sinus issues) I'm telling you..drink it once a day and you will have a great disney vacation! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Airborne, a marvelous product!! The wife and I take it and have been amazed at the drop in being sick in general. If you don't happen to have water, just pop it in your mouth and let the fizzies begin. It's good and it's fun. I'm a believer!!!

Hope you feel better soon! Well, I'm going to do my best not to spread the Ohio Valley stuff around Florida...we leave tomorrow, and I'm excited, and there feels like a wee bit less cotton in my ears tonight.

Bobbi
Thanks Bobbi! Hope you are having a wonderful trip and not fighting off anything bad!

Speaking of our Ohio Valley weather...yesterday we hit a record high of 70! Today its 45!! :confused3

We are leaving tomorrow for BCVs and MVMCP on Thursday... DH and I went to our chiropractor today for adjustments and hope that will ward off those nasty germs!

Does that help? I had no idea!!

Well I got sick after our last trip. Flew home Monday 12/11. Wednesday morning my throat was on fire. The cold has since become bronchitis. Yuck. I blame the plane trip and the fact that we were up so early (4 am) for the flight after going going going at WDW. I think my resistance was down. DH kind of crashed on Sunday and got more sleep than I did and he is fine.

My DH can never fly without getting a cold...UGH! We try to innoculate the heck out of him before going, and it seems to help somewhat, but he always gets something...for us, it is not WDW specific.

Try getting affrin nasal spray or zicam. The last few times I felt really sick from colds I took them and it was gone in two days. The worst was when I had a sinus infection the week before we went to disney a few year ago. The plane made it really bad and I was super sick in theparks. My ears were pundin, and my cheeks and forhead hurt to touch.

Not colds this time, but apparently seven out of twelve on this trip wound up with a flu virus.
At first we thought it was food poisoning, because the initial (brief) bout came on so suddenly, well it was brief for most of us at first, but we had to leave MVMCP early on so missed out on that.
My daughter was sick the entire night that first night..
Then two days later my DH got sick.
Then the next day the rest of us got violently ill.
It took me a week to get over and my DR felt I pulled my shoulder muscle from the ferocity of the illness.
My friend, who shared the two bedroom with us, passed out and fell on her way to the bathroom. She hit her head hard and popped her hip out of alignment. She also broke her toe on the door when she fell.

The trip started out good, with all of us feeling rather confident because we had been taking Airborne and had gotten flu shots.

Our trip last Feb. I got sick on our departure day and had to curl up in the Iron Spike room until time for our ME back to the airport.

Next trip I am bringing lysol wipes and disinfecting everything...............

I haven't read all the responses, so maybe someone has already suggested this. I run an IT department, which means my people and I have to use other people's keyboards, mouse, etc. and you can only imagine what is to be found on those things. We regularly apply an anti-biotic lotion to kill the nasty things that live everywhere. The lotions don't just kill what you have on your hands now, but also give you about an hour of protection... so you have to be diligent in applying it ongoing. Be sure the lotion has skin moisteners and conditioiners too, because these things use alchohol to kill the nasty stuff and you know what alchohol does to your skin.

DH and I have never (knock on wood) gotten sick while at the parks.
But... I think the problem is the different climate. FL does have molds and algees that grow all over... most people are not used to such things.

We live in Texas were the climate is the same; sticky, hot and wet.

Although, any time we travel up north we get sick there and when we home home.

We think our sinuses have trouble adjusting to the different air.

I rarely get sick while traveling. I am the type of person who will eat doritos while flipping channels on my nonsanitized or zip locked remote. I wash my hands only when I feel they are dirty, not before/after every activity. I will not go for an antibiotic unless I'm really sick for days- I give my body a chance to fight it off and build up immuntities. If I drop something on the ground, I will pick it up and eat it- within reason. So far, not being a germophobe is working for me. I think people come home sick because:
1. They are germophobes- therefore more likely to get sick
2. They exhaust themselves on vacation, reducing their bodies abitlity to fight sickness
3. Most people lives are very routine, until they go on vacation, and sleeping and eating patterns get all screwed up

I am usually never sick, can't be, I'm a nurse - you would think that being exposed to all the sick people in a hospital, I would be sick all the time - only when I go to WDW. Just came home from our trip 12/2-12/10 and the last day my throat was sore, came home with bronchitis and had to stay in bed a week, sick as a dog....

I am going to wear a mask on the plane from now on. Of course, it was Pop Warner week and there were kids everywhere - and adults, crowded rides, buses etc. I am a fanatic about handwashing and not touching knobs or door handles unless I must...but it is a standing joke....Susan went to WDW, and when she gets sick, she really gets sick!!!

Mom & I both came home with sinus infections, there were a lot of coughing/sick people at Disney. Otherwise, I don't think we've come home sick in several years.

You are right about the mold:thumbsup2 I have an allergy to mold and I have medicine for it but the only time I seem to need it at home is when it rain, but in Disney I seem to need it more:confused3

Woo, I see you practice the 10 second rule with the food.:rotfl:

I agree with your 3 reasons people come home sick, but add to that a poor immune system, which I have.

Glad you don't have that problem. :)
