I think we appreciated it more also. Do you remember waiting all year for that annual showing of Wizard of Oz, or Willy Wonka, or even the holiday specials like Charlie Browns Christmas, or Frosty, or Rudolph and if you missed it..........................had to wait till next year...I tell my children this all the time....When we were little, blah, blah, you guys now the phrase :). Hey, I think only being allowed to watch a special movie was worse than "I had to walk 7 miles to school EACH WAY...... :rotfl2:

Now back to the original topic... has anyone been able to find Mary Poppins things? I would be very interested. I am hoping to see some stuff on our upcoming trip in June. We do have PS for 1900 Park Fair for breakfast. We made the reservations for Sunday because we heard that sometimes Bert is there on Sundays.

the garden near the English shop in EPCOT (I can't remember the name there is a little Winnie the Pooh set up in the back...a desk where the author wrote). She talked to DD's for quite sometime alone and signed their books and had quite a few pictures taken . She then went into the store and we followed and there were Piglet and Pooh again...no one was there..we had more pictures and more autographs before people started to notice and started coming in and to the back of the shop. Mary was beautiful!!!!

Okay, I have to share this with you other MP fans. When my oldest son (now 17) was 3, we moved to South America. It was tough for all of us to be away from family, but I took plenty of Disney tapes to keep us feeling "connected". DS watched Mary Poppins every single day. One day he came into the kitchen, his face and hands COVERED with black ink from an ink pad. He said, "Look, Mommy! I'm Burt!" No spankings, just lots of laughter, pictures and SOAP!

:rotfl: That's pretty funny. Glad you kept your cool.

I just combed through the pressed penny list and I was very disappointed to find NO MARY POPPINS pennies. I don't get it. I think they could sacrifice one or Pooh & Friends pennies for a little variety.

They ought to make one with a "Twopence" motif, don't ya' think?

My little DD2, whose speech is still only about 60% intelligible, loves to repeat the line from the bank scene "If you invest your tuppence in the bank..." We crack up and that just reinforces her, of course. :rotfl:

Mary is my DD's favorite. She has spent many times in her company with know one around. She spent about 20 minutes with my DD in England. The next day we had breakfast at the GF. MP saw my DD in line and called her over to her name. It was such a Disney Moment. My mother almost fell over..."How did she know her name?" Disney Magic I replied. She really made that day even more special. She asked her to sit with her. She wrote a long note (which I framed) on the back of a place mat.
On the morning of each trip to Disney-my DD gets a surprise gift from MP, that "she" leaves on the rooftop after a night of dancing with Bert and his friends.
She runs to the window before her eyes are even open! :earsboy: :earsgirl: princess:

I was recently hospitalized because of over-obbsessive compulsive with Mary Poppins - I worship her like a god. :sunny:

We just started watching Mary Poppins w/ our DD (18 months) and she loves her. She gets the DVD and says "Mar Poppin" over and over until we put it in. I have to admit, I can watch it over and over. Have you seen the pop-up behind the scenes facts on the DVD? Good information! My favorite is "Jolly Holiday"--I love the white dress and "Supercalifragelious....". We'll be looking for her in 3 weeks!

OH MY GOD I LOVE MARY POPPINS!!!! She is my favorite!!! Just look at my avatar!! Oh and my kids like it too. If you love her they have a statue of her made from a tree holding her carpet bag outside of 1900 park place at the grand floridian. I had my picture taken there and I love it! My kids and I get very excited when we see her there since she is not always out. I think it is a great movie and my children have always loved it. I think it is the only Disney movie that I know of where no one dies..lol :bounce:

DD and DS LOVE this movie!!!!! It's currently in our van's DVD player, LOL! It's been a great bargaining chip I use if I desperately need the kids to behave while we're out and about. If they don't give me grief while I do my various errands, they can watch "Jolly Holiday" on the way home. It's worked every time. :)

maybe the disney people will read this board and allow Mary more apperances in the park!!!!!!!

Well, after all she is "perfectly perfect in every way", though I am not sure I would want to meet her at WDW, somehow I can´t imagine anyone but Julie Andrews as her. I am afraid I will be disappointed when I see someone else as her, lol.

Julie

OLur 3 kids all love MP--even my 6 yo son. Next time we are in the World, we are going to make sure to do the Character B"fast with her (I think she's at the one at the Grand FLoridiam).

Meeting Mary in the parks is a wonderful experience!! She is very gracious, and it was a highlight of our first trip to Disney!!

:goodvibes

I'm looking for an adult MP costume. Let me know if you know where I can get one. She is my favorite disney member. The soundtrack is in my car cd player. We listen to it every morning on the way to school. :umbrella:
