Who else listed items on eBay yesterday and today?

I've been away from eBay for quite awhile now but decided to put a few things up for auction. Living here at my DD's, I don't have much space to keep a lot of extra stuff so I thought I might as well try to sell some of it..

Doing things a little differently this time around though.. I set my prices a little higher - for two reasons.. One is that when I stopped listing before, my prices were so low I was probably only making about 2 cents an hour :rotfl: and secondly, I have a specific goal in mind so I need a specific amount of money..

I also decided to go with just a 3-day auction because I'll be heading to Florida the beginning of April and I want to make sure that any sales are taken care of before then..

So how is it going for everyone else? Doing okay - or only so-so?

I put up a couple of items yesterday and they sold already using Buy It Now.

However, I'm a lazy ebayer. I realized that listing clothing, etc, is not worth my time because the stuff I was listing (mostly vintage clothing and custom/boutique clothing/costumes) didn't really bring in enough to justify the time I spent agonizing over every single detail, plus answering fifty billion emails from people wanting to know every last thing. No matter how detailed my listings were, due to the unique nature of my items, I was getting barraged every time I listed an item. So, I donate those things to charity now and just take the write off, or swap with friends. Less hassle.

So, now I will only ebay things like books, video games, music, etc, where I can punch in the UPC code and get a prefilled listing. All I have to do is cut/paste my "fine print" and I'm up and running. Takes me generally under five minutes to get an auction up, and I only ship priority- more time savings. I do fairly well- I make less money since I sell fewer items, but my profit on each item is better since they're popular things that people generally want. I don't have problems with unsold items and relisting anymore, either, which saves on fees.

I've stepped away from ebay too. I haven't listed or sold anything since the end of November. I've recently been contemplating what I might have lying around that I could list and actually sell. I have some larger items (dressers) that I don't want to put on ebay (don't want to deal with pickup) but would rather sell at a yard sale.

I haven't "stepped away" from ebay as you have but I have been selling for the better part of a year and a half. I am still having quite a bit of luck selling. I know sales with drop off when the weather is nicer so I'm trying to list as much as I can before everybody heads outside to enjoy spring!

I try to ship as much as possible by USPS priority mail because it's so easy and pick-up is free. I like the fact that they provide the supplies for free and I don't have to run to town. (We're out in the country and that run to the post-office eats up profits because of gas!)

I'm hoping to finance the majority of our October trip to DW with my ebay earnings! I know it's lots of work but I'm up for it! So, please keep your fingers crossed for me! :cheer2:

Well - I listed some things on Friday night - does that count?
I need to get some more things up -I'm taking pix today and will list tonight - my girls are out of school tomorrow and they are spending the night over their friends' house - so we (hubby and I both list) can "work" - :o)

I can't get over how high the ebay fees have gotten though - sheesh!
Oh well - they do have a monopoly going! :o)

I just put up 3 of my old formal dresses!! cross your Fingers! I need just a little extra cash for disney!! (who doesn't!)

I just started last week and sold one of my items :) and 3 of the 4 currently open have bids and they still have 4 days (lets hope they go real high :))

Thanks C.Ann for kicking my butt in to gear. I just wrote up a listing in Turbo Lister and once I'm certain of my starting bid it will go live.

I've stopped listing on ebay and have gone the church flea market route. A local church charges $30 for a table, and I sell an average of $150 a month of old clothes, books, things I would never have imagined people would actually buy. I've sold DHs old sneakers, dirty and worn, for $2 a pair. All of my two son's outgrown winter clothes have been sold, old jeans, broken computer printers, you name it. I took my 12 year old neighbor with me last time, and she made $40 selling her old clothes and toys. She says she has a bag ready for next month!

And if anyone remembers those free Chadwick's items we were all getting, I sold the wheeled luggage bag, tote bag, duffle bag, and toiletries bag as a set for $20!

I listed a bunch of items also. I have more to list but need to take pictures first. All the money goes towards Disney. I am also having a rummage this summer too. With all the money going towards Disney.

I have been working OT also with that money going to Disney. I am planning on having my trip paid by July. Then to work on Spending money. Which I already have 100.00 of that too.

I haven't been active on e-Bay for over a year. I had planned to list some things this month, but my uncle fractured his elbow 2 weeks ago and turned my life upside down! He's 86 and incredibly independent, but has limitations at the moment.

Hope to be able to start listing again next month, but my activity will be limited. I always list with a higher starting price, the minimum I'm willing to accept. My listing fees are higher, but I don't have to accept extremely low winning bids. It's a trade off--just like life! :)

We've been listing, and I've been burried. Sales are up! Our sell through last week was very high. I do 7 day auctions now that the 10 day went up so much in price. When I'm at Disney I still do the 10 day, so I can be away.
I have to say though, that I'm working on my taxes now, and between the eBay fees (etc), and the self employment tax, I think I'll be listing less, and using the fee money to advertise my website. I can't do anything about the SE taxes, but the eBay fees are way too high..and this was before the last raise.
Now the vent about eBay. Wish they made everyone take a class first. I have several notes from people wanting to know why they didn't win the Dutch auctions, and the winner bid the same. Well, they didn't...you just can't see what their high bid is, and they only have to pay what the lowest winner bids. And pullllease..does no one read the end of auction notices? I sell personalized items. I can't ship them until I have your name. 33, yup!!! 33 people paid and didn't give me names this week. That means another email, waiting for them to get back to me...yada yada. Half the time, when they do get back, they only give partial info. I emailed and called an out of the country person after trying to find out their graphic choice (they gave me the name, but not the graphic), and after 10 days, I went with the first graphic I show..finally today, they email they have been away for 10 days on vacation, and they wanted to be able (when the get it) to return the item, since I put the name they gave me at first on the item, and they have changed their minds. Fat chance LOL.
hmmm...I sound like a little burn out is happening here LOL (hubby says he keeps hearing me call people dummy's..but he knows no one else is here..well, yeah, but I yell it into the computer screen!).

I list some things last Thursday as the listing fee were half price ,not any thing else but the listing fee. Have been doing pretty well. I go through spurts of selling the get burned out and wait a few months and start listing again.
Take care

Well I'm happy to report that I actually have some bids already and the items don't even end till tomorrow night.. :flower:

I just listed a few more things (that won't end till Wednesday), but I'm not going crazy listing everything in sight like I did last year..

If the things sell - that's good - if not, I "may" relist (depending on what the items are that don't sell) or I may just pitch/donate them..

If nothing else, it will be fun to see how it all turns out.. :flower:

Oops! Sorry to hear you're having a tough week.. I remember how annoying (dense) some buyers could be and I think that's half the reason I don't want to get too heavily involved again.. I have enough stuff going on in my life these days without setting myself up for aggravation - LOL.. :rotfl:

Only 3 more weeks and I'm on that airplane again.. "Calgon - take me away............................" :rotfl2:

I have some bids too. I hope to keep selling..although I have to make sure I have time for shipping. I have been busy at work so I get overwhelmed. Although I am going to order some postage supplies.

Not really tough, but it seems like we have wayyy more newbies than lately. While I really don't mind a little hand holding, having people ask over and over what the shipping is, when it's listed in the auction, and I sent it in the invoice, not giving info I asked for, and wondering why I won't ship tomorrow when payment was an echeck...well, it seems the past few weeks people are having real problems reading descriptions and comprehending. I bought a couple things this week, and the sellers and I did some comiserating LOL!

I've been listing over the last several days and have had quite a few Buy It Nows in my ebay store. I try to list daily.

I run a different special in my store every month and this months seems to be taking off. :cheer2:

Doris--Sorry about your newbie headaches. I haven't had any lately (knock on wood) but I bet we could all write a book. Sometimes I just have to take a "step back" and take a deep breath. Then I sit back down and plod on!! :rotfl: Can't say life is boring.
