Who else is watching 24??? (Spoilers possible. Proceed with caution)

That's what I keep thinking. A former President has been assassinated, terrorists took over a terminal at an airport, they attempted to kill the Russian pres, they've deployed nerve gas with the threat to do more. Why isn't the President surrounded by secret service and in a secure area? And why doesn't the President have more staff on hand to make decisions about this crisis.

The more I watch this show (and I enjoy it), the more plot holes and inconsistencies I see.

I guess I need to turn off my emotions too, because I personally HATED this episode! It made me sick to my stomach to hear that sweet little voice on the phone telling her daddy she loved him and asking her to wake her when he got home. DD does that to my DH all the time, and it was just too close to home. That part really upset me a lot and I cried pretty hard when he died; I wish they had kept him anonymous w/o a family!!! Then, of course, Tony dies!!!! I loved Michelle and Tony and if I couldn't have one, it was nice to still have the other.

Next week had better not be so depressing! We need some bad guys to die!

I assume that the President is in a secure area and also that there is plenty of staff around but they don't show that because it's not relevant to the story. I guess that I have no trouble pretending like it all makes sense.

Is Tony dead for sure? Yuck, that's so sad but not terribly surprising.

I am shell shocked after that episode last night. Was that a 24 first? Killing off two main characters in one hour?? Like someone else said it's time to get rid of some of the bad guys although you could make the argument that Lynn was one. He's the first CTU head, no matter how aggravating, that I developed no feelings for. One of the only, if not THE only, times the people of 24 did a bad casting job.

As for plot inconsistencies, please leave your brain at the door while watching this show. It's much more fun if you do.

Edited to add: it bothered me that Jack, Kim, Chloe, etc. all sat around watching Sean Astin and security guard guy die. That's a little twisted-- why would they want to see that?

Jack watching Tony die was one of the MOST annoying things I have seen on the show. The poison was in the ' torture ' briefcase. Thus there had to be an antidote in the case.......

Because they weren't going out for the evening and there was nothing else on TV that night......

A friend of mine (MIT graduate) sent a brief email talking about the size of the room they were all trapped in and oxygen consumption rates and how they wouldn't have lasted more than a half hour in a room that size w/o an external oxygen source. My reply to his email was brief....."It's a f.....g TV show!"

Time for the mid season course correction...they do this every year right around the 12 hour mark. New conflicts, new characters. I have five bucks that Jack is initially reigned in by the Homeland people only to establish credibility with them and be set free to chase someone again three hours from now.

24....totally, absolutely, completely implausible, but great fun. Still the best edited show on TV.

I have watched 24 since the beginning. It is absolutely the best show on tv.

But if you are one to sit and analyze everything about the show you are taking all of the excitement and enjoyment out of it. Remember it is only on to entertain you not to educate you.

I love 24! I had to laugh at the conversation I had with my niece after this weeks show. She said "I am so glad "Rudy" redeemed himself" and then I said do you mean "the stupid fat hobbitses" (what gollum called him) Then we both agreed that Jack is going to rip off "PonyBoys" head and that "Designing Woman" needs to slap her husband and smack some sense in to him, and that "Robocop" was a meanie for killing Tony!
