I just stumbled on this site. Being badly disorganized and messy is NOT helping my new home business in the least. I can't have customers over because my house isn't presentable. Gonna give this a whirl. Anyone else a member?

I never heard of it, but soon as I check it out, I will let you know :)

I am a member, but given that I work full time I find that it doesn't speak very well to my lifestyle. BUT, the sink cleaning and the 15 minute hot spot diatribe is now a ritual in my household and it has given me a lot of ideas. Oh and I dust with a feather duster - but I did this prior to joining.

I just need my maid back plain and simple.

Its a very good helpful site and newsletter, though, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. It takes the stagnation of doing anything due to looking at the enormity of the work ahead of you out of the equation and makes you look at your mess in a more rational manner.

I actually find that Clean Sweep on TLC helps me more.

OK, just went and checked it out, will join when I get home and see if it works for me, as I work full time and am not home much due to soccer, karate, Girl Scouts and life in general!

Someone mention a MAID? Want my address?

I used to belong to flylady, but turned it off when I went on a vacation and didn't want to get inundated with emails. Then I forgot all about it. Thanks for the reminder!!

I think you'd hate the commute. But man, if anyone in central MA wants some work, just let me know. I am waaay overwhelmed by my exhaustion from baby #2.

Flylady newsletters each day talk about having your shoes on and being ready to start the day - this is for stay at homes and I just can't relate. I shut off the newsletter feature, but still get cleaning tips from the site.

I have heard of it and looked at the site, but can't seem to find enough time to read it. My house is a really big problem. It is messy all the time. The only time it gets clean is when people come over and then it's only the rooms that people will see. I know a big part of my problem is lack of storage and I just don't know what to do about that. I do love Clean Sweep on TLC, but it's hard to even find time to get rid of all the stuff I have. Plus, I wouldn't know what to do with most of it anyway---throw it away or give it away.

And, you know, last summer had a 2 cleaning ladies (they were a team) and it was still so much work to get my house in good enough shape for them to come in and clean it.

:rotfl: at cleaning for the cleaning lady! I know the feeling! I'm having a hard time with the shoe thing. I HATE wearing shoes. I find them really uncomfortable. I even took them off at the office when I worked outside the home. Today, I shined my sink, did my hair (don't wear makeup except special occasions but did put on some moisturizer) and put on a bra! A big thing for me if I'm not leaving the house! Tomorrow I'm making the bed (probably should change the sheets too). I'm also working on getting up earlier. I'm such a night owl that my schedule now is to stay up till 2 or 3 am and get up around 11. I'm going to bed 1/2 hr earlier every night and getting up exactly 8 hours later from now on. Poor DH, I'll be awfully cranky for the next couple of weeks. The site also advocates getting up 15 min before your family does but that would mean 3:45am when DH gets up at 4. I DON'T think so! He can make his own breakkies!! Only kid to feed is the dog and he'll eat when I say he'll eat!

I used to do it but I couldnt handle the guilt anymore!! :) ;)

The 30 emails a day about killed me lol

I do www.organizedhome.com it works much better for me, personally.

Good luck with it though I know some people do really well with it! :)

I signed up for it several years ago, but its really not for people that aren't home all day to check the email. The amount of emails you would have waiting when you got home from work was overwhelming.

I've been "trying" to do it off & on for about a year now. It has great ideas, and they do work. I tend to fall off the wagon. Before I know it, there are science experiments in my sink. But I'm still trying. I have a lot of bad habits (concerning housekeeping) that I still need to work through. But I can say that I'm better off than I was a year ago! I still subscribe though, kinda like a housecleaning accountability group.

I've also done the sample menu off of http://www.savingdinner.com I'm still on the fence on whether to subscribe or not. Loved the food! Felt great eating it! Even the kids (11, 7, 4 & 3) loved it!!! But I so love my crockpot cooking, I don't know if I can alter it too much. (I have a lot of energy in the morning, so I prefer to prepare dinner then...unlike the afternoon - I burn out)

I would definately recommend FlyLady to someone to try out. You just have to adapt a little to your own unique situations.

Binny - I usually ignore/delete the e-mails until I at least "shine my sink"

A maid sounds GREAT!!! But I have to clean up before she comes over...

I have been doing it for a couple of weeks now and have seen a difference. I have made my bed EVERYDAY!! I am still a flybaby and I have a lot to learn.

I agree, the days I am at work, the e-mails add up and I have a lot of deleting to do, I just read the heading (like FlyLady says) and then I hit delete.

I really like the testimonials, they give me motivation and make me want to get my house clean and decluttered.

I am a member of flylady. I like it. :)

I signed up for the "digest" version of the e-mails, so it keeps the number of e-mails down where it's managable. More than once, I've been glancing through the flylady e-mail and it will ask something like, "Is your laundry in the washer wet and ready to be dried?". And the answer is, "Yes.". So she has saved me from doing a few extra loads.

I don't do all that she says. But she does have some good & helpful ideas.

Through that site, I found a site that you can sign up for a crockpot recipe to be sent to you once a week. I love my crockpot and I'm always looking for something new. So that was a bonus.

I'll check out the other sites listed in this thread. Thanks for posting them! :)

I have the "Saving Dinner" cookbook. There are all kinds of crock pot recipes in it. She has things listed for 6 nights per week. I don't do the whole list, I like to skip around. The book works great for me. Few example recipes: crock frijoles, crock pot barbecue chicken and about 7 more chicken recipes, crock pot cabbage rolls, stroganoff and stuffed peppers.

The only 2 I've actually cooked are crocked barbecued beef, which my husband said was good--he loves BBQ sandwiches and the crock-pot cabbage rolls. We both thought they were good.

But my favorite is the garlic lime chicken that's in the email a lot and a greek salad that is wonderful.

I might just give this a try.

I agree with you castlegazer i think I need to do a CLEAN SWEEP from TLC one room at a time. I just love that show.

Ok, clean & organized people. Perhaps someone can help me. I used to work 2 jobs so I was able to afford a cleaning lady every other week. When she came in to clean, I'd come home from work and my house would smell and look fabulous! I can get it to look fabulous on my own but why can't I get that smell?!!!

Anyone have any cleaners they'd like to recommend that have a nice smell that lingers for awhile? I have laminate floors, so it would have to be a cleaner that is compatible.
