UGH!!! I booked a deluxe room thinking for sure there would be some huge savings discount. Nope, instead I am paying more then I would have since I added one free night but had to pay for an extra day of dining (we didn't want 3 extra nights).
I guess this deal works for some people, but certainly not for us!! :sad1:

I am disappointed in the deal as it does not take into account anyone who wants a shorter stay - I am going to call back and see if an AP rate opened up.

Yeah, I see how it's a GREAT deal for a lot people, but it just won't work out for us. We're renting points in january and already bought the plane tickets so we can't take advantage of this deal.

We also love the dining plan and wouldn't go to Disney without it. for the size of our party and the way we usually stay (value) free dining is still a better deal.

We are a value resort type of family, due to finances mostly. This deal is nowhere near as great as free dining, especially during value season.

The point of the deal is to get people there and fill 'seats' for a longer period of time so your'e there to drop money in the parks. It is a HUGE savings for a lot of people. They dont generally do things to save people money for no reason other than to save them money. 7 nights is usually shorter than I would stay there, so its great for me. The point wasn't to slash prices, but to extend stays.

Its not a 'so called' great deal, its an amazing deal for a lot of people. If you go on a lot of short stays, APs and room discs are often an option.

Its still a better deal than free dining if you go in the first three months of the promotion for a week compared to free dining. Also, free dining doesn't save any money, its just convenient, thats been covered quite a bit. There are a lot cheaper ways to eat in the parks than using the dining plan. This is at worst the same as free dining if you get free dining, and if you want the cheapest vacation possible, stay at a value and dont get the dining plan. Its also not at free dining times during the extemely hot and humid part of the year.

I was lucky enough to get a 40% off room only code earlier this year for my upcoming trip. I was hoping this new "deal" would be better for me and was considering changing my ressies to June '09.

I priced out the 7-day trip online, and as it turns out, I am actually better off with my 40% off code for December. The "4 days, 3 days free" quote I received was for 7 nights at WL in a standard view room with 7-day MYW base tix. I would save $295 for 7 nights (I am currently booked for 9) but if you factor in the rate I am getting for the 2 extra nights ($150 per nt.), it isn't a savings at all. In fact, after factoring in the amount I paid for park tix (through UT), I realize that I would end up paying $5 MORE for the same itinerary I have now.

I now have 9 nights at WL, in a woods view, with 7-day park hoppers. It's not worth it to switch to this "deal" to lose 2 nights, have a standard view room and not be able to go from park to park daily.

Oh well. If we win the lotto, I might consider another trip in June....;)

It's true the dining plan is not as good a deal as it used to be but it still saves us money. Everyone has different vacationing habits so what's a great deal to some may not be as great to others.

I'm not really disappointed with the deal persay, but it's just not as big a deal as everybody was hyping it up to be. There will never be a better discount deal for our family of 6 than free dining. We got the Disney Visa free dining code for this December and it is saving us $1,600.00. If we book a trip for the first of May next year the "book 4, get 3 free" deal would save us maybe $500.00, which is still a great savings, but it can't touch the savings we get with a free dining code.

I have been waiting on pins and needles :scared: for this Wonderful discount, and I did end up saving money off the regular rate, but about 1/2 of the amount I would have saved with free dining. I also had to change our reservation as we were staying for 12 nights, and it's only good for 10. So much for trying to get people to stay longer. For the last 2 nights I booked room only. No park tkts, no dining, no nothing.

I think it just depends on where you are staying an who you are going with. Lots of people or staying at a value? Free dining will probably save you more. Staying concierge level at a deluxe? This will save you a good chunk of change.

If I could have gotten the room at the Contemporary (Tower Magic Kingdom view) it would have saved me $1950. As it was I had to move to the Polynesian and still saved $1825. Add in the $200 gift card and I "saved" $2025. Actually, I just got to reallocate $2025 to souvenirs!
Free Dining wouldn't really interest me as I have no interest in using their plan and being limited to what I can eat and where I can eat it. I've read all about the plan and it just doesn't grab me. I'd rather eat where I want, when I want.

I think I read on Mousesavers that you can go for less than 7 nights but your number of free nights decreases. Not sure if that'll help but might be worth checking.

Because of our schedules, we were planning a trip in early Feb. this year. I had booked WL standard for 6 nights with the QS plan. I was able to get two nights free, and even with the upgrade to woods view, I still saved 450 bucks, and I get the $200 gift card.:woohoo: Our QS plan is for two adults and two kids.

I think free dining, especially if your "kids" are considered adult probably is a better discount for most, but for us, it saved us money. I wasn't one of the chosen few to get the 40% off room rate pin.

To me, it's like shopping at BJs or Costco: you need to know your prices!;)

you can. We are staying 5 nights now, so we got one free. We had to pay an extra 100 dollars for the dining plan. So like i said, this wasn't a big deal for us.
Is it possible that Disney Visa might do a deal?

We, of course, are going during the blackout dates 13-19 April:sad2: :sad2:
There is no way we can change our dates.

We don't do free dining...none of us eat that much and that often while we are on vacation, and we can't go during the typical "free dining" times. We just use our Disney rewards dollars for food and souveniers. So, for us, this is a great deal and a chance to stay at a resort we normally wouldn't stay at because of cost. I am one of those unlucky people who NEVER get a pin code or anything in the mail/email for discounts, so we jumped on this offer. :dance3:

How did you apply this promo to the Poly? We were told by the CM that the promo did not apply to the Poly and so they couldn't apply it to our reservation...:confused3

The CM I spoke to about an hour ago was able to get it. He said it was unavailable at first, but then he found it somehow. It did not amount to as much of a savings as other folks are seeing because we had to upgrade to a LV from our GV in order to get the discount, but at this point, I'm happy with any additional discounts I can get. :rolleyes1

I'm in the same "disappointment" boat as many of you...

I was REALLY hoping for free ticket upgrades and/or room discount as there is no way we can stay for 7 days. We are set for a Wed-Sun trip and that's all we can do because or work.

I'm glad that it is a good deal for many people - that makes me happy! :)
