Who else feels like they went overboard on Easter stuff?

I went to Target today to get a few things to put in my boys' (ages 15 and 12) Easter baskets. I ended up buying a bunch of edible treats since they're on the older side and we already have at least 100 stuffed bunnies in the house! I probably only spent about $25 on each of them, but it looks like a lot of stuff! My DH didn't have a job for the past two Easters. Since he's been working since January, I finally feel like I can buy stuff! I guess I'm just so used to watching every penny that spending $50 on Easter treats seems like a lot! I just hope they enjoy it! Anyone else feel like they spent too much on jelly beans and chocolate bunnies?

Oh yea.

The two guys of this house are being spoiled, BEYOND BELIEF. :lmao:

Of course, I spoiled my fiance as well. Although she was naughty and found her gift in my secret hiding spot and almost ruined the surprise! :headache: :lmao:

I even bought myself something. :rolleyes1

This is the first year I haven't made baskets for my kids :guilty: I probably should have stopped a few years ago as they are 20 and 21:rotfl:

I ended up spending more than I had anticipated. DD is too young for treats and chocolates but I did get her a movie, some play-do, some books, and an American Girl Bitty Baby (woah, those aren't cheap! ... sticker shock.)

I've got DD (17YO) all taken care of. Don't feel like I've gone above or beyond on $$.

I'm concerned that I need to get her boyfriend something. I've decided on a gourmet caramel apple. I didn't want to go "totally" sweets, since he is in track right now. Either that or this particular store has a gourmet trail mix. I like the trail mix idea better, but the gourmet apples are a couple of bucks less expensive.

Oh yes i ent way overboard lol. But hubby expects this from me, it happens every holiday lol

I didnt buy her a lot of candy since shes already gotten a lot of that so just a bit of candy but i got her a ton of other things lol

We got her a new bike for easter. She outgrew her trike. And a new helmet. A rapunzel princess dress, a princess beach towel, a big stuffed bunny, a little purse filled with hair accessories, nail polish and lip balm, a big basket full of princess jewelry, some coloring books and craft stuff like stickers and glitter glue, there is more but i forget lol

Most of it was from the dollar store

You win. :rotfl2:

I did. DS has food allergies so that wipes out a lot of candy (plus he's 2) so I totally over compensate with other stuff because I feel bad. Lord help my wallet when he's old enough to understand other kids are eating candy and he's not, I'll be poor.

I always do baskets for me, DH, DS (31), DDIL (33) and DD (28).
I guess it depends on what is overboard. I think I did it pretty much the same as usual.
I get "baskets" that can be used later for things. I think about $20 in little odds n ends trinkets, $15 or so in edible goodies and a $25 gift card each.

When I came in from shopping my husbands response was - "When did Easter become Christmas?" :lmao:

So to answer the questions - yep I went overboard! 50% of what I bought won't even fit in the basket! :rolleyes1

Not sure if this is just me or the whole of the UK, but we don't really get Easter baskets :S My grandparents bought me and my sister an egg each for Easter and my parents got me concert tickets instead ;) Does that count as an Easter basket? :P

Absolutley. I have been buying stuff for months now and I don't even remember what all I've bought:rotfl: I do know I diden't buy alot of treats. They each have a choclate spongebob instead of a bunny, an easter egg lollipop and one special treat (choclate drops for DD12, Funyuns for DD14 and a slim jim for DS10) plus DS has a rubber ducky pez but I doubt he'll eat the candy. He just loves rubber ducks, but on the non treat side, I went nuts. Big stuffed animals, new outfits, kites, CD's, Video games, plus lots of little toys and new purses for the girls.

I miss the days when my daughter was little. It was so easy to buy so many fun, cute things for her. I often bought her dress up clothes- but she's grown out of that. This year, she is getting baseball and gymnastics stuff (all things I would have bought anyway..but makes more sense to just give it as a gift). She got cleats, glove, batting gloves, bat (HOLY EXPENSIVE!) and some grips and a leo.

My two year old niece got art stuff, books, this helmet http://www.target.com/Youth-Kitten-...om_size-bin,target_com_brand-bin&frombrowse=0, and a few cute clothes that she liked.

My two month old nephew is getting clothes, a few teething rings and some candy his daddy likes.

Oh wow, sounds like Easter is 2nd Christmas around your house :rotfl2:

I have to make 6 baskets for our kids and have not bought a single thing yet. We have so many kids I buy our Easter candy at Costco......guess where I'm headed in the morning???

I didn't this year, I have been trying to cut back on the Christmas/Easter gift thing. Plus DD12 will have 3 Easter baskets and she realized when she eats chocalate that her tummy doesn't feel so good, so she isn't interested in bunches of that. but she can eat the heck out of some peeps!

well this year we are saving money. DH and I have a total of 4 god daughters and our own dd12. DD said she need an easter basket. I told her i wanted to get something and she said "Save your money mom. We are on a budget"

Today I was asking her question so i can get an idea of what to get her and she said the same thing. She got her braces yesterday so no candy.I feel bad but Dont know what to do. I had bought her 3 organizer baskets type things for her room outside is black inside zebra print along with a medal zebra trash can with the foot step to open the lid. I showed her at the store(she didnt know i had already bought it) she said she didnt care to have to since she doesnt need it. I told her we should buy it and she said just save your money we are on a budget. We are doing fine with $$ but we have been in budget mode-lol!

snacks would be nice but dont know what to get cuz her braces/herbts. so eating is kinda tough for her.

god daughter are 1,13,15 and 23 . We are only buying for the 1 year old. We stop buying for the 23yr years ago and the 13 and 15 about 3 years ago but we usually dont see them on easter so not an issue but this year we will see the 15 yr. I feel bad not getting her anything and only giving the 1 yr old something but dh and i decided only up to age 10 will we give baskets.

we are going to two parties on easter and we were told to take filled easter eggs so hopefully I can find some good deals.

I didn't even start yet. Tomorrow my debit card will have a nervous breakdown!

Easter has always been the biggest holiday of the year in our family, I grew-up with it being bigger than christmas.

We always decrorated for Easter. Our home health aide will dress as a bunny on Sunday. He and RN working with us well come over for brunch.

We do not do as much candy as we do toys, joys, and foods. Each person is given a big bag of empty plastic eggs on Good Friday(today) we each fill them with joys.Joys can be things we are thankful for, treats, anything we think someone we are with on Easter would enjoy and things to give to charity(this year we picked a couple of charities near Disney to give gift cards-after looking at their websites to see what they need to get cards that sell what they need). You can put names on your eggs as long as everyone gets one of yours or they can be whoever finds it gets it.

We do alot of baking.

I did--for 3 grandkids and daughter.

They are lucky I had everything already bought and paid for before I went out last week and bought a new car.
