I do this more as a time saving thing than a money saver but the money helps too. We often eat a luna bar on the bus to the parks.

We take breakfast items and snacks and have breakfast in our room. My kids won't eat much for breakfast but I take muffins, crackers, etc for them to snack on mid morning while at the parks. I usually eat cereal in the room but I like to get a waffle and a croissant breakfast sandwich atleast once during our trip.

We eat breakfast in our room about half the trip maybe more. We drive so it's easier to bring stuff along or stop at a local store before we check in. Breakfast in the room usually consists of muffins, fruit, cold cereal, bagels etc. Eating breakfast in the room is a real time saver for us because no lines at the food court and we can eat while getting ready for the day.

We always eat breakfast in the room. We don't bring the food with us because we always have a car, and buy groceries. At least one time during our trip, DS must have his Mickey waffles, so we will eat at least one b'fast out. We've also had b'fast at Kouzzina and it was amazing! So much so that I would go back there for breakfast again.

I voted "sometimes eat breakfast in our room." I bring granola bars, pop-tarts, etc, and milk and juice for most mornings, but sometimes my kids ask for a hot breakfast, which means pancakes and bacon for them. We'll usually eat at the food court every few days or have a character breakfast maybe once during the week.

We never eat other meals in our room, nor do I pack sandwiches to eat in the park.

Eating breakfast in the room is a win-win for us. We don't eat a lot at breakfast anyway and we don't like to waste time in the morning. I bring cereal, milk, juice, instant oatmeal, fruit, and poptarts for breakfast. I also bring snacks to take to the parks or eat when we get back to the room.

We eat breakfast in our room every day.
We also pack lunches and take with us in a cooler backpack.
We take atleast 3 sandwiches per person (pb&j), chips and bottles of water.
It's amazing how hungry you get doing all that walking! :goodvibes
Lots of granola bars are great too!
We still end up eating 1 meal out a day. Sometimes it's off property and sometimes we treat ourselves to Prime Time 50's Cafe or Rose & Crown.
If we ate out every meal we wouldn't be able to go to WDW as often as we have.
If we drive we bring our cooler that is ac/dc and put it up in our room (if staying at a value)
We buy milk at a local WalMart and stock up on lunch and breakfast stuff.

Thanks for the suggestions. Have been debating this one. Staying at Coronado Springs (1st time) & just have been wracking this one over & over.

DD's boyfriend evidently likes his cereal so I'll pack some cereal in a cardboard box for him along with a few disposable bowls & spoons. But debating how much extra stuff to take with. We can each check one bag free so his suitcase can carry a few cardboard boxes of foodstuff.

We drive, so bringing snacks and breakfast food is easy for us. We brought bread, juice, peanut butter , jam and pop tarts. One morning, we did eat Mickey waffles just for the experience, and it was nice, but I really prefer a lighter breakfast.

I may not always eat bkft in the room. But i definetly bring snacks (chips, fruit, pudding, etc) and drinks to keep in the room cause snacks/cokes are sooo expensive when you buy on site. You know for those late nite munchies. :thumbsup2

We eat breakfast and some other meals in our rooms (of course, being DVC helps, since we have cooking facilities). It's not just about the money. Between allergies and eating a low glycemic diet, it's easier to do our own thing. Like most restaurants, WDW dining is high on the simple carbs. A week or so of nothing but restaurant food gets old fast.

We were contemplating CL this year b/c of breakfast. We opted to do TPV instead (to make it super-magical for the kids while they're still little) and we're going to take advantage of a grocer service b/c even if we do breakfast, the kids are VERY early breakfast eaters. So we're getting milk, sodas, pop-tarts and some snacks. I think it will be very worth the money. I guess we'll see :)

And we're still going to save money over CL this way :)

I voted that we always bring breakfast/prebought & eat it in our room.

My dh & I have done this since he & I started going together but when I used to go with my parents they bought food (the 80's & earlier).

Now that we have kids it is so much easier & cheaper. We have only gone 3 times with them but I wouldn't have it any other way.

We bring cereal & pop tarts & I think I have brought bagels. My ds has a few food allergies so I like to make sure that he has things he will eat to start off his day.

One time I did bring milk (pre restrictions) but now I just buy it & soy milk & bring chocolate or strawberry for my ds to mix in it (or my 2 dd's).

While my kids are eating, my dh & I take turns taking showers. The kids can watch some TV & by the time dh & I are both done, the kids are dressed & slathered in sunscreen & ready for the park. We are usually out of our room by 7-7:30 depending on which park we are going to that am for early entry.

I also bring some snacks for them on our pool days.

I went to Walmart on our first night and bought cereal, milk, fruit and poptarts. It was cheaper and quicker to eat before we left the room. We made ropedrop most days.

We've never eaten breakfast in our room before, but will probably try it on our trip in May. We'll be having lunch somewhat early each day in order to go back to the room for DD's nap, so some oatmeal/cereal/fruit should hold us for the morning. We'll also be bringing a ton of snacks this trip. I swear my kid thinks that whenever she is riding in either her stroller or car seat she needs to be eating a snack! :rotfl:

Thnak you for adding the idea of oatmeal with cofffee pot hot water, the fruit and store bought muffins.

How great it would be to own a DVC - lucky are you if you own one ;)

We do do the towncar ride service with the grocery stop to our WDW resort.
So we will plan to buy a few more items for breakfast and snacks in the room.

We also do some late morning character breakfasts - nut only on Early enrty moning at MK.
We like to do a 10:30 AM breakfast at CP or 1900 PF when we do the early entry morning in MK. :goodvibes

We eat breakfast in the room most of the time but not always. On a 5 day trip, we eat breakfast in 4 days and one day we eat CS.

When it's just me, I eat CS breakfast every day because I love it and it's much cheaper for 1 person to eat.

How can you make coffee pot hot water?

I tried making hot tea using the coffee pot hot water and even though I scrubbed it out beforehand it still tasted like coffee. Needless to say, it was gross and I got rid of it.
