You know how those nutrition labels always list as a "normal" diet consisting of 2000 - 2500 calories? I was just curious how many people really eat in that range. I think I can drink 2000 calories on a friday night. I'm not a big guy either, I'd say I am average ... 5'8", 150 lbs ... but I know I eat at least 3500 calories a day if not 4000. Maybe I'm just a pig! popcorn::

I eat in the "normal" range. I'm gone working 12 hrs a day and try to drink propel. If it weren't for that stuff I wouldn't be in that range. I use to drink 6-8 cans of Mt dew a day :rolleyes1

I do. The older I get, the fewer calories I can eat without needing to watch my weight. There is a reverse correlation bewteen the numer of calories you eat and how long you live. It's hard though.

Alot of us do that have hit 35+....:lmao: After that age, if you are not exercising it off, you will gain ALOT of weight.

I try and eat less than 2000 on a regular day. More like 1500-1200.
I eat low cal breakfast & lunch, drink diet soda if I have it.
Try and stay away from gravies, sauces, butter, etc...(oh the pain)

Today I probably went over a bit:rotfl: ...we went out to eat and I ate Chips and Queso, chicken & spinach enchilidas with sour cream sauce and reg. coke.;) Oh and reese's peanut butter cups for dessert.

That was all I had today.

Wow, you must have an amazing metabolism. I eat around 1800 calories a day and as long as I workout regularly I can pretty easily maintain my weight.

I've gained 6 lbs in 8 years. In that 8 years, I left the military and got married ... definitely weight gaining activities.

I am 5'1" and female. I can eat about 1200 calories a day if I don't exercise if I don't want to gain weight. Luckily, I get a lot of exercise. :teeth: I still probably eat less than 2000 calories a day though.

I spill 2,500 calories a day on my chin while Im eating

When I lost 45lbs in 2003 doc told me not to go below 1200 calories/day. I slowly increased after I lost. I find at 2000 I can maintain my goal weight. Anymore than that and I notice Ive gained a few pounds. I may eat more on the wknds but make up for it during the week.

It's really a critical control point. After a certain age, most people will become unhealthfully overweight if they net more than 2000 calories per day. Our culture has so innured us to detrimental impact of eating more -- almost divorced excess with the resulting obesity -- that we suffer now from an epidemic. The societal pressure to overeat is strong, and I'm not sure we all can really fully overcome it the way things are, but by trying to, every day, we do effectively minimize the damage to ourselves.

I also stay around the 1800 - 2000 calories a day. That, along with walking and exercise, keeps my weight at a reasonable amount.

I don't eat anywhere near that. I usually eat about 1200-1500 calories a day. That's about what I need to maintain my weight. 2000 would cause me to blimp up! Of course I am just a smidge over 5' so that has a lot to do with it I am sure ;)

I have absolutely no clue how many calories I consume each day. I eat relatively healthy choices, but I have never added up calories. I workout just about every day at the gym to stay in shape - that said, I don't feel like I've got carte blanche to eat whatever I want, but I'll occasionally indulge in something "fun".
