**My mistake - If you are the male counterpart please select "My husband (thanks to some of you guys being secure enough to select this option)" If you are the female counterpart please select "My wife does the planning". In hindsight I can see how this can be confusing. Sorry, I just want to see the male to female ratio for planning Disney trips.

It seems like this board is prominently women and I was wondering how many of the fellas are planning these trips? I have been over on the Disdads section of the board, so I know we exist out here, just not sure what percentage of us are here.

Thanks!

You need another option ~ "I do all the planning". ;)

Agreed that more options need to be there.

I, the husband, do all the planning.

I, the wife, do all the planning.

My response would be: I, the husband, do all the planning. :cool1:

I will say it loud and say it proud....."I DO!!!" I have to admit, when we went in March 2010 I had the trip planned down to every second and I loved ev ery minute of doing it. This trip it will just be myself and my kids and with the quick service dining I don't need to make a weeks worth of ADR's.......Also, not doing any character meals or BBB, Pirates League, etc......much more relaxed except for the fact that I won't have backup. Right now my main thing is deciding which park to go to on which day and which day to have for a resort day...not a big headache :).........cannot wait!!!!!

I'm a guy, and I do all the planning.

Flight, Rental Car, Resort, Park Tickets, All ADR's and anything else to do with the trip!

When we took the kids in Nov 09 my wife did all the planning, I did nothing. For our trip this May I have done a good bit of it. I booked the hotel, etc. I also made the reservations for Cinderella's Lunch and the Boutique for my daughter. I picked out what days we are going to which parks. I have also purchased RideMax and will be making schedules for each of the days. I picked out 2 of the restaurants i wanted to eat at but she made the food reservations.

So, this time it's mostly me but I just had more time to research than she did and thought it was kind of fun.

BTW where is the Disdads section of the board? :confused3

Me, me, me (the wife). I make all the plans. DH doesn't even start getting excited about the trip until we're getting on the plane, so involving him in making most plans is pointless! I do consult him on big decisions (ie: where is he interested in eating for ADRs, where to stay), but other than that, it's all me. ;)

My DH is more than happy to let me do all the planning. Since I'm the Disney fanatic and his job requires him to spend most of his day planning and making decisions, he really doesn't want to have to spend his free time doing the same thing. Whereas for me it is just fun.:)

This doesn't mean that we don't share opinions and wishes about a trip. I wouldn't finalize any plans without his input. But I'm always the one online or on the phone.

I (the wife) do all the planning. I do take input about specific things (I ask questions) from DH and the kids. DH wouldn't do the research, but would be happy to book things, but he would just go back to favorites--he's not one to try something new without a push. He's found resorts he didn't think he'd like are his favorite, for example.

DH and I do the planning together. It is like an extension of the vacation. We barter over the hotel, mutually decide what parks to go to each day, and obsess over restaurants for months. I share lots of information from the boards; he shares lots of information from podcasts.

Poor, poor DD. She loves Disney, but doesn't like the wait to go back. After our first trip, DD was so tired of all the planning that she told us not to tell her the next time, so we sat around for months before the next trip saying, "If we ever go to Disney again...and we're not....we should..."

I find quite a few women and moms on this board, too. I don't know why, but in my family I usually do most of the planing for vacations (including Disney). Sometimes, it is hard to balance work and Disney. My wife usually will handle other maters, but I think this board is for men, too, for there is no real gender assigned to planning a Disney vacation. This board is a good resource for planning a trip.

One reason I tend to plan the vacations is I tend to handle most of the finances and am the "Disney-obssed" one in the family, not to mention I always have some form of the travel bug.

Proud Disney Dad here doing all the planning for our immediate family as well as our extended family and friends when they go!

It's a family effort at our house. We have a night of planning our meals & I (the wife) am the one who makes them online. DH is in charge of all flight arrangements.

We all gather our clothes & DH gets them packed. We are DVC members so we always go "home", so that's not an issue.

We are a family of Disney junkies, so that helps keep everyone involved & excited during planning!! :mickeyjum

I (the wife) do all the planning. I will ask ds what he wants to do since dh doesn't care, but other than that I do everything and love every minute of it :)

I, The Disney Husband, do all the planning.:scared1:

I am not embarrassed to have answered the Poll: My Disney Husband.....:flower3:

Planning begins as soon as we get home from our previous vacation. My wife & I maintain a section of a closet with Disney only attire. We can be ready to travel in a moments notice.....:laundy:

Most of the planning involves which Park each Day based on Touring Plan crowd estimates. I then kinda' decide which ADR (only one per day) popcorn:: based on the preferences of my family (i.e. my step-mother must eat at Narcoossee's if we're on Monorail Resort, my wife Shula's and blueZoo if on Boardwalk, never a buffet, etc.).:surfweb:

I nuance this planning with wanting/avoiding Special Events (F&W, Osborne Lights, MNSHP, and/or MVMXP) along with wanting/avoiding a long meal time.

Since my wife & I are most often with our toddler, we have attempted to limit Park time to about 4-hours per day (excluding meal times).:thumbsup2

But once we are at Disney, I am able to accomplish the short list we have planned, eat at our favorite restaurants, view fireworks/parades, and never feel as if we have been rushed or unprepared.:cool1:

At times it feels unappreciated, but once at Disney, we have faced few of the horrors of many other comments......:woohoo: Planning plays a part in our never arguing.....:grouphug: luck plays a part in rarely having to ad-lib......:wizard:

I, the wife, do the majority of the planning... especially logistics. My husband gives me input on restaurants he'd like to go to and "I don't want to go to a park EVERY DAY"! :)

I, the wife, does the majority of the planning. This means, I decide when we are going and the budget. DH, if up to him, would never visit the mouse, however, has a great time when he does and even discusses it with his coworkers.

Kids, let me know where they wanted to eat, and they helped with the hotel choice. DH did too, since it was him who decided no Value, but Moderate. So the kids got to choose from 2 of the resorts. It was DH that also said we are flying, but up to me to get the flights and a great deal too. He just says, don't tell me how much, I don't want to know. :rotfl:

As for when, I decide. DH just tells me, let my work know when I am on vacation.
:cool1:

I, "the wife," do our trip planning.

OP, you are correct -- I work in destination marketing, and women do plan most family vacations.
