About a week or two before we go I'll start getting all the sundries together (toothpaste, shampoo, shower gel, camera films, etc.) - they always go in our holiday box!

We (DH & me) always put the cases on our bed and the holiday box on the floor and start to pack the night before we go, (as we always have to leave at some un-earthly hour in the morning) and with my instructions :p both pack one case each! I always make a list of everything and we cross it off as it gets packed.

Seems to work for us, so how about you?

It's a combined effort at our house. I do most of the packing, but I tell DH to pick out his own clothes. He usually chooses about 10x too many (once packed 12 T-shirts for a 3 day trip) so then I choose what to pack from the items that he wanted to pack!
Really, extras are OK, but twelve!!

I do all the packing which I don't mind, that way I'm sure that everything gets packed. :D

:jumping3: :jumping3: :jumping3: :jumping3:

Everyone packs their own bag, including the kids. I tell the kids how many changes of clothes they need and what type of clothes, after that it's up to them to make sure they have what they need. I do check my dd(8)'s bag when she is done.

I pack my clothes and DS's clothes and DH packs his own. Toiletries etc. I handle most of the packing of, but DH does a small part.

I pack everything for myself, and DSs. DH is on his own, although I do pack his toothbrush since I always get new ones before a trip.

I pack everything for me and the boys, but I have DH pack his own things. This way I can't be blamed for something "he" forgot!

I have always packed for all of us, except for our last trip to Maine. DH insisted on packing his own clothes. He packed more for himself than I did for me and the two kids. He won't be packing for himself again. He's going to be allowed one suitcase and he won't be allowed any additional space.

He's like a 16 yo girl in a 38 yo man's body.

Each child is given a list of the necessities and how many of each item. They are told to place them on the bed inthe spare bedroom. DH doesn't get a list but he does have to get everything together for himself. I do all the packing because I split the items between 2 or 3 suitcases. That way, if a suitcase gets lost, no one person is completely out clothing.

It also gives me a chance to make sure that DS packs more than one pair of boxers  and none of the junk he has a tendency to bring. A couple of years ago (just after 9/11), he set off the metal detector in the airport. After wanding him and going thru his pockets, among other things, they found the remote for the familyroom TV. Why he felt compelled to bring that along, we'll never know! Talk about overpacking!

I do all the packing.....i have 2 children and me and my DH..i usally start a week before, LOL i dont on vacation that often, so i am usally excited to get going.......

I do all the packing and I HATE lists, so I rely on memory. I rarely forget anything, and if I do, there are always stores down there! We pack pretty light, because with DVC we have a laundry room in our room, so we don't pack a lot of clothes. That saves lots or room for more pairs of shoes! We do pack laundry soap, and grocery shop on the way to OKW from the airport.

My kids are grown, but they packed for themselves. With just Stephen and I, he gets out all the stuff he wants to take, and I put it in the suitcase. We go with two carry ons, and one checked bag for a ten day trip. One carry-on has mostly food in it, and one carry on has stuff I need for the plane and check in. I am a great packer.

I do the packing except DD 13. I do double check her's to make sure she didn't forget anything. I am definitely a list person. I make list for everything.

Oh my! I do it all. If it were up to my DH, we would be spending a week in WDW with only Pop Tarts and White Socks!!;)

Although we all pack, I'm in charge! The hardest part is getting the kids not to pack three weeks early! About two weeks out I make the lists and confer with dh to see if I remembered everything, make sure we have everything we need, and take care of stopping mail etc. Several days ahead we get out the luggage and start gathering non-clothing items. I save clothes packing for the day before so I can get the laundry done. Dh does his own packing. I make the kids bring me their clothes (I tell them how many pairs of each) and I watch them put them in their suitcase. The kids pack their own backpack with books, paper, and toys, but I make them show me and justify some of their choices!

I pack much more carefully since having children, but it is getting easier now that they are older.

I pack for our trips. I tell DH to put what he wants me to pack on the bed, and then I actually pack it. If it's not in his pile, too bad. :p

FUNNY YOU SHOULD ASK. I must go do that now, I'll pack for the five of us...but they will help pick out the outfits. on another note: madforthemouse----your daughter resembles mine somewhat.dont you think?

I pack for me, dh and 2 younger kids (ds 2 & 8). I ask DH about which shirts he wants but he pretty much trusts me. The DDs (14,16) pack all their own toiletries, even though I do make suggestions if they ask . They know what they need for washing, grooming etc. I ask them to pick out their clothes then give them to me so I can look the stuff over and make sure that they isnt any inappropriate stuff. I need to make sure they have a good sweatshirt, decent shoes and plenty of socks. My oldest DS(17) once packed to go to see his dad for 2 weeks and only put in one pair of socks.. He rationalized that there was a washer up there so while he was wearing one pair he could be washing the other.

Whoever's going on the trip packs their own stuff so if something is forgotten it is no ones fault but their own. We do a verbal check list the night before or right before we leave because it is usually something obvious you seem to forget.
