It was never a tradition in my or my husband's families, but we have Santa fill stockings for EVERYONE....my son, the cat and dog, and my husband and me. Gifts under the tree are only for my son. We do find it very fun though, and at least DH and I know we are getting SOME surprises, as you never know what Santa will bring. ;) We have a great time finding each other surprises that FIT in stocking, and my son really enjoys looking through all of them, even the dog's and cat's, before we are supposedly awake.

Santa doesn't like me anymore and never visits my house. That's why I say humbug to Santa. If anybody is going to get pecan pie and a glass of milk on Christmas Eve it's gonna be me.

DS and BIL have this tradition in which Santa stuffs stockings and brings candy canes to their children. Santa takes great pain to sneak the candy canes under pillows and into sleeping hands, he decorates the light fixtures, door nobs, etc. My neices and nephew think it is the coolest thing and always are anxious to tell us where Santa left candy canes.
Santa only comes to my house to bring kitties Christmas snacks.

Santa comes to our house and fills the stockings for the kids and leaves gifts under the tree for them. He doesn't come for the parents (us), but we are totally ok with that.

I love the Santa tradition, especially when the kids are young.

My kids still really value this tradition, Santa is sacred. (the kids are 14, 18, 21)

Santa fills everyone's stockings, including my dd's, dh's, mine, and the 3 dogs (they share a stocking). Santa also leaves a few big things. The stuff under the tree is stuff from mom and dad to our dd and stuff to eachother, so not stuff from Santa. We also have presents for the grandparents and cousins under there right now as well.

When my son was young enough to believe, all the gifts said FROM: SANTA.

When he stopped believing, I starting putting my name on the gifts.

I never did the Santa gifts/mommy gifts thing.:confused3

Santa fills everyone's stocking at my house.

He always has, but especially after I had children.

How would I explain that Santa only filled their stocking and not ours. :confused3

Everybody gets filled stockings, and the kids each get 3 presents from "Santa" under the tree because of the three wise men. (Books and clothes don't count as Santa gifts.)

ETA: I guess I need to get a stocking for the new kitty!

Santa only comes to see the children and the pets at our house. He fills the stockings and leaves gifts out and unwrapped in an area of the living room for each child. Wrapped gifts under the tree are from mommy and daddy or their siblings.

Santa comes to fill DD's stocking and leaves a few smaller wrapped gifts, but not mom's or dad's. She asked me last week why Santa does not give gifts to us, and I told her that Santa gives presents to kids, and that he has so many kids to give gifts to, that there's not enough room for the adults too. I said that mommy gets gifts from daddy and her, and she was happy with that. She had fun tonight wrapping DH's gifts with me herself, and picking out which ones were small enough for his stocking.

Gifts under the tree are either wrapped and from family members (to everyone), or they are unwrapped and from Santa. I do it this way because my parents never wrapped Santa gifts and I remember how magical it was to see the spread at like 5 am on Christmas Day.:rotfl: Plus, it's a lot less work not wrapping all that stuff!:rotfl2: We haven't really clarified yet who brings the adult stockings, but dh and I always do stockings for each other. We also have a budget of $150-200 each for gift(s) to each other and that seems to work very well. We've been doing it this way for 7 years now and no complaints. Dh gets cash for his purchases because I do all the finances and I don't want to see where he did his shopping when I check the bank statement or I'll guess what he got me!:headache: This is the first year ds really understands about presents, Santa, etc. We are probably going to avoid mentioning who brings the adult stockings until next year, at least. The reason for that is that right now we celebrate Christmas at the in-laws' house, but she stopped doing stockings for her adult kids last year. I totally understand why, but then it would be difficult to explain why Mama and Daddy get stockings from Santa but not Auntie and Uncle and Gramma and Far Far. I guess what I could do if we want the stockings to be from Santa is make up stockings for everyone else in the family with simple things like candy and small treats in them...which is probably what I'll do. Then dh and I can continue to have our bonanza without the discontinuity of the Santa story.:lmao:

Santa only fills DD's stocking but leaves a small gift or 2 for each adult and lots for DD (he also leaves something for Flower - our fish:rotfl: ). I have a feeling I'll be getting new gloves and slippers from the big man this year :teeth:.

Growing up Santa only left things for the kids.
