Who do you know as the Biggest Disney Fan??

My youngest daughter and I are the Disney freaks in our families and annoy
our other family members with our Disney quest for info. We are Disney fans, and in our network of friends the biggest Disney geeks. we listen to podcast,
read many books < about Walt the Man and general park info>, watch dvd's,
watch all the Travel Channels special, etc.... Our friends come to us for
vacation planning ideas for their trips. BUT I don't feel we're the biggest fans.

who do you think is the biggest fan ??

and
is it based on:

general knowledge of parks and Walt life's
amount of time spent in the parks
has DVC contracts over $40,000.00
runs a podcast show
the one people go to for all the little trivial stuff or trip advise
own the most Disney STUFF

In my family/circle it would be me. But I do not have DVC and I do not see getting it as for me it is not cost effective.

I think the question is can there really be only 1 biggest Disney fan? I think almost all of us would stake our claim for that title. I am not sure if it's about who has the most DVC points, or who has been in the park the most in the last 6 months, or who has the most pins. And it's probably not about how many podcasts you listen to, or how many you produce. There is a good chance it's not about how many posts you do on the boards, or if you can receit every Disney move in chronological order.(Even though these are all good!)
What I think it is, is your love you have, the feeling that thinking of disney gives you inside. Do you smile everytime you think disney, do you cry each time you leave the parks, and for that matter the first time you enter the parks. Do you stop in your tracks if you see a magazine that says something about Disney.. or is your TIVO burning up each time the travel channel has anything Disney(even though you have seen it 12 times already). If you can say yes to these things, I would consider yourself one of the many biggest fans of Disney.

Yeah, I agree with PP. I think we're ALL the biggest fans in some way.

I'm for sure the biggest fan in my circle of family and friends. But then...now that I've been in the Dis for so long, a lot of Disers have also became my friends and they're HUGE fans too! Are they included in my "circle"?

I guess it depends on how you define network.

Certainly (but with much modesty) I will claim to be the biggest Disney fan in my non-DIS network. That would include things like work, neighbors and family.

But in my DIS network of friends, I'm certain that I'm not the biggest Disney fan. I'd suspect that honor would got to Pete, or perhaps Kevin. Followed by almost all of the podcasters. Then it would fall to a lot of other folks that know so much more about Disney in terms of history and park minutia that I do.

My qualifications?

• Grew up watching Walt on Sunday nights and telling my playmates that next summer our parents were going to take us to Disneyland. In reality, there was never a chance that would have happened, we were in a distinctly blue-collar neighborhood; not poor, but certainly not well off enough to travel to the left coast for vacation back then.
• Held an AP for 25+ years
• Owned DVC since 1995
• Currently (as in for at least 20 years) been making multiple trips per year to WDW. Last year was 6 visits, this year looks to be 5, typical year is 4. And...
• Literally met my wife at WDW. Seriously. We were at a reception for a bunch of Disney fanatics from Compuserve (remember that? Think of it as a early version of todays DIS) in December of 1994. I first saw her across the room at Old Key West (hence my screen name). Here we are now married for 14 years.

I agree that it shouldn't have to do with how much Disneyana you own, or how many DVC points or contracts you hold. None of that makes you the biggest fan, it just means you can afford to indulge in your passion more than some others might.

It doesn't have to do with if you are a podcaster or blogger or not either. There are many Disney fans out there that could probably produce an excellent one, but don't, because they can't afford to, or don't have the time. Does that mean they aren't as big of a fan as those who do?

I'm lucky to be a DVC owner, shareholder, and I've blogged (but never podcasted) about Disney. I also met my wife through Disney and have been to WDW close to 50 times and DL twice, despite never having lived close to either of them. But I'm still not even close to being the biggest Disney fan out there. One reason is that I have other passions that I pursue with equal fervor. There are those who dedicate themselves fully to one passion, and those would be the biggest Disney fans. People like Kathy, Pete, Kevin and Lou Mongello come to mind.

In the end, I think it has to do with how you feel about Disney on the inside. How does it make you feel to be there, or to think about it. How passionate are you about the other aspects of Disney, and not just the theme parks? I think it's a personal thing, and how Disney effects you and your family is really all that matters.

Well said. That's me. I am the biggest fan that I know. I've loved disney since my first trip in 1972. I tear up when I see the castle. I didn't know others had the same reaction until years later. My parents thought I was crazy when I was younger. I would sob like a baby when our disney vacation was over. It's not about how many posts I have. I'm actually quite shy and rarely post. My dad also had a great love for disney. We don't get to go every year but I'm always planning another trip in my mind. Our family budget doesn't allow for AP's or DVC (although I've taken a couple tours of DVC just to dream).

I used to read birnbaum's and the unofficial guide over and over, and then when the internet first really started expanding, the RADP newsgroup.

My kids are all grown up but they watched lots of disney movies and disney channel. All three will still tag along with us for disney vacations.

I'm the obsessed disney fan in my circle of friends. I do believe it's about how disney makes you feel. My earliest recollection of disney is Sunday night's World of Disney show...

I don't have a podcast and I won't buy time-share, but must confess to being Disney Geek Extraordinaire of my group.

My family are all Disney fanatics, but I can modestly say that I believe I am the biggest nut of them all. Disney World is a huge passion for me. The only thing that rivals the thrill of being there is the excitement of planning the next trip.

The funny part is, I am definitely the cynical, kind of abrasive sort...except where Disney World is involved, then I become a huge, grinning kid.

As far as devotion, I work 2-3 jobs all year to ensure that I can afford our trips, and bring along as many family members as possible. Even though this leaves me little to no spare time, I recently started a website about Pixie Dust moments and stories from Disney World, just because they affect me so deeply.

I've said it before: There are only two times in life; when I'm at Disney World and when I'm thinking about going back to Disney World.
