I'm in the beginning stages of planning a trip to WDW (and a cruise!) for October 2012 and just started thinking about insurance. We get emergency medical through dh's work, but am more interested in trip cancellation insurance. Did you get it through your credit card, or another company. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

We've always bought our emergency medical through PC Financial Insurance and have nothing but great things to say about them. Had to make a claim last trip and it was such a good experience. And they have the cheapest prices that I've found. Easy to apply for - just a few clicks on their web site.

They also have cancellation insurance, but I never bother with it. But if their service is half as good as it is with their medical, it would be worth using.

I've gotten it before with CAA and had no problems. The airline actually lost a bag (on the way home) and we were going to make a claim, but the airline found the bag 2 days later. CAA was willing to give us emergency money, but we didn't really need it since we were at home already.

RBC insurance can be quite expensive. We switched from taking RCB through CAA to an affinity annual plan that was available to members of our retiree group. It covers multiple trips during the year up to 40 days in length each and is about 1/10 the cost of the RBC insurance.

You have to compare apples to apples and it is hard with travel insurance, cheaper does not mean the same coverage.

I use RBC Insurance.

I use RBC Insurance. I have had to make claims and they have never given me any issues. They may cost a little more, but when your talking getting your money back, having no hastles is a lot easier than jumping through hoops.

CAA. I have an Annual plan, Medical with trip interruption/cancellation.

RBC might be more expensive but they do cover more risks provide more extensive coverage.

RBC Insurance...wouldn't use any other!!!
Same here. I used to work in the travel industry and from that experience I feel that they're the best. Our daughter got sick on our last trip - first time parents as we are - we freaked out. They were great with us.

Anyone else used PC Financial? What do you think of it? The prices are good, almost half what TD is quoting. In the past I've used TD, but I've never had to make a claim.

Some background on our claim with PC Financial insurance. Last October my wife got sick while we were staying at AllStar Music. She called the 1-800 # and they faxed a form to the front desk. They asked her if she'd prefer to see a doctor at a nearby clinic in about an hour, of have a doctor see us at the hotel in about 2 hours. She chose the latter. She faxed back the form and about 2 hours later a doctor met her right at the hotel and took care of her. They had a supply of medicines with them so she even got the pills she needed directly from the doctor. Even got a phone call follow-up the next day to make sure she was doing better. We had to fill in one additional form once we got back but that was all we had to do.
