I have one daughter who simply won't eat around strangers (if they are at the table - not if they are in the same room). Therefore, it is important we get a table just for 4. I've contacted cruises before on other lines but is there a contact number for the Magic?

Thanks!!!

Send an email to DCL include your reservation number explain to them the situation and what you need.

Then once on board the ship you can go and look at your table number in any dining room open for lunch to ensure it is only for you 4. If not then there is a place on the ship at time of boarding to make any dining changes and you would need to request it there.

you can note the preference in the special requests section of your reservation on the Disney Cruise website. You do have to be paid in full, but you can edit your preference to request a private table at dinner. It is just a request and not guaranteed...

However...If you don't get the request when you get to dinner, ask the head waiter and they can likely move/accomodate you. It may be more difficult at the early seating, but it could be possible. Almost certainly doable at the late seating.

You can also request this online, through your reservation, under Special Requests (this is a new option). There you can select having a private table. Once on board you can check with dining to ensure that request was honored (they say they do their best to honors requests made ahead of time, but if not you can hopefully sort it out once you get on board).

You do not have to be paid in full to do those special requests on your reservation. I've done it for two upcoming cruises, neither of which are PIF.

Agree PIF not required. To me personally the email gives the context and the why. I don’t recall if the special requests area allows you to give the why behind the what.

Special requests through the website is just a checkbox, there's no room to give any rationale.

I just went and requested a private table. It is just a check box with no area to give further information. So, I sent an additional email to the address given above with my reservation number to explain.

My concern is how sensitive is she to strangers? Because even if you get a private table we’re often talking an inch or two between your table and the next. Is that too close?

She's fine at restaurants. It is just the direct 'strangers at table' she has trouble with. She's cruised before. When we are at a private table, things are fine. When we have been assigned with others, she barely eats a bite, and says nothing. We ended up at the buffet when they couldn't move us. We are working on it and making progress but unlike, RCCL, Carnival, etc, the main dining rooms on DCL are super special and I want her to be able to relax and enjoy them.

An inch or 2? There were not ables that close together on the Fantasy in December. A foot or 2, yes in some cases, although we had no one that close to us.

If you use a travel agent can you still request private seating through the website? I’m pif but not getting this option. It gives me the dwarfs working on it screen on both the app and web. (We have already called, just want to make sure the request is there. )

It depends on the table. Yes - there are cases where it's just a couple of inches and the tables are like 81A and 81B. Because so many people are refusing to eat with others, but the dining room footprints were not designed for 100% private tables they are doing what they can, which sometimes means merely pulling tables that had been together apart, but to allow the servers the ability to do their jobs, that separation is a couple of inches only. But it's a private table.

Yes, you can. I used a TA and it's not PIF time yet, but I'm able to access it..

Can confirm on the Magic--we had a table sitting beside us and the guy at the end could've just turned around and been at our table. We'd have to wait for him to get up to get by him at Artist Point (the other side of our table was against a wall).

Prior to the actual cruise you are only making a request. To ensure that you have a private table you should go to the designated location where dining room changes can be made to verify that you are at a private table just sitting with your family.

Even then they cannot always do anything about it. The second time I got seated with others, the ship was completely full and there WERE no other tables available. I went to check (because the first time it happened I didn't go to check because it had never been an issue), and they were very apologetic, but there simply were no tables to move me to - on either seating! (I was on second but asked politely "Is there anything on early?" and there was not.)

So just know that going there (or talking to them through the app which I think is what you do now) *might* be able to do something, but it also might not. They cannot create another table - or space for one - when there is no table or space.

Hi, I’m wondering if OP got the private table you requested as I’m worried about the same issue with my children. Is it quite rare to have a private table request granted? What are the chances we may get a private table?

Thank you

Hi - I learned recently that if you have at least 4 people in your party it is easier to get a private table.

It also helps to give Dcl the specific reasons why you need a private table as that also can factor into the decisions.
