When making a building location request (for OKW), who do I call? Do I call MS, or OKW directly?

Thanks.:thumbsup2

You can do it through MS or can wait untill you get there. Better chances if you go through MS.

I don't believe calling MS is going to better your chances. If everyone checking in before you wants the building you want they are going to get it. CMs aren't going to see your request until you are checking in.

The system doesn't put up some sort of red flag on the room in general when CMs are looking at available rooms for someone checking in. The best it will do is help you not miss getting a request because you forget to ask when checking in.

I don't know if HA rooms are handled differently though.

Hope that all made sense.

I have been E-mailing (to MS through memebers sight) my request in and have had great luck this way.

I think the planners start looking at request and what available before they are released to the resort by a few days. So if you have none I think they will assign you what is either not requested or whats left.

You make an interesting point.

I would suspect that a small percentage of people making ressies know specifically what room they want, and short of that I don't see how the system (especially the DVC system) could keep track of general requests like a building, floor, view, etc.

I think (at least hope) you are right that rooms that are specifically requested have some flag that prevents an arbitrary issuing of the room to someone with no requests. Still, I believe, if that requested room is the last one available on a floor, building, or view requested by someone at the time of check-in, then it will be given to the person checking in.

If your point is correct though it behooves anyone checking in to have and state preferences. Otherwise they are likely getting the best of the leftovers.

Seems fair.... so members beware... and ready. :teacher:

I look at it a little differently. If I don't have a medical request, I like to "take my chances" and see what I get. I like experiencing other parts of the resort I might not have stayed at before. Who knows, it might be WAY better than what I previously thought was the best!

Take my last I requested 1st fl close Pool side DSA.This was for BCV and sent an E-mail 45 days out.

When I arrived I was told my room was not ready . I asked if anyting was ready at the time and was told Yes but it's not as good as what you have . I asked where it was and was told 3 rd floor Epcot view half way down the hall. She said she could tell me that because the room was open and not assigned as of yet. I also think even though I haven't checked in yet my Room assigned would not show up for someone just walking up before me.

I asked where my held room was and she told me she couldn't tell me as it's not released yet but that I would be very pleased with the location. I told her thanks and kept the assigned room and went to the parks.

When I called and given the number we headed over . It was 1st floor ,Poolside right a the canal DW just had to walk across the walkway right to the DSA.

So if rooms are not assigned until you arrive then we wouldn't have had this. If the CM can't see what I requested then did just think I would like that ressie.

I think the Planners are in control of the Resorts in the entirely and they get the request from both DVC and CRO to fill the rooms. If nothing is requested then I would think those rooms might be the ones left open for when you walk up and just get to choose from whats not been assigned as of yet. This was during the first week of June and the place was packed so I'm sure nothing was being left unused.

I guess what it all boils down to is I haven't had a bad room yet but do like certian things if I can get them and will request this way from now on as it's very easy to do.
