Hi

Going to call to make a reservation - does it make any difference if I call Loewes, or Universal?

Thanks

Call Loews. They will switch you to the Orlando hotels.

The reservation number on the Loews site and the reservation number on the Universal site are the same, so does not matter its the same number.

Book with Dreams Unlimited. They operate this site and deserve our business.

And while I agree... I'm not sure if booking thru them will get you your LF credit (ie: welcome gift, late checkout, qualifying stay, etc....) And, I am a person who understands about working commission, giving the person who earned/deserved it credit, etc.... but if I am shelling out over $200/nite for a hotel room, I really would like something in return for my patronage.... :teeth:

If I were you, before I booked, I'd apply for the Lowes First card (free)
for the benefits you'll get. With how many nights you'll be staying on your honeymoon, you'll be bumped up to a higher level for future visits at any Lowes property. Check out the thread on this board for Lowes First for more info.
You can join it online thru this link..

Then you can book directly thru the Lowes first reservation number.
Some of the benefits you'll get right away is a welcome gift of your choice, free access to the fitness center, and free room upgrade if available, plus late checkout if requested.

thanks. Have already applied for my Loewes First card (this forum is a godsend - it will have saved me a fortune by the time I go!) and now I am waiting on a mastercard to come, so that I can get the Mastercard offer and compare it to the AAA rate when it comes out.

YEAH! Glad you got Lowes First.... If you want to be sure to get a King bed, I think you'd have a better chance booking thru Lowes First number. MY DD used to work for Marriott, and I asssume it's the same for other hotels, they will work harder to give their loyalty card guests their requests.

Can they still check for the AAA rate, and Mastercard offer?

Yes, they will. I had a reservation last year that I had to call back when AAA rates came out and they applied the discount to my reservation.
Usually how they do that is to refund your old rate, and then rebook it at the new rate. So I had a credit to my CC of the higher rate and the new lower charge added.
I currently have reservations at RPR for Jan and March that I will call back and have the rate applied to the reservation. I've already called about Jan to see if the rates are out yet and each time they were as nice as could be when I called to check.

Does anyone know what the late checkout time would be for a Lowe's member?

It's either 1pm or 3pm....macraven would know...she does it!

Actually, you will. Just be sure to ask that your Loews First number is included in your reservation record. If you want to make double sure, call the hotel and give them your number.

I've been a Loews first member for years, often use a travel agent, and have never had a problem.

Not if they refuse to quote you AP or Military rates & will onlly book rack rates they don't ;)

I book direct with universal - you can get APH/AAA/Mil rates & get Loews number applied (if applicable)

To each his own. ;)

And if you're active duty military, you should get in free everywhere, IMHO.

I thought your stays didn't qualify toward LF if you booked thru 3rd party? :confused3

Kelly,
I love your books and you usually have excellent advice.

But this is directly from the LoewsFirst website under terms and conditions:

2. LoewsFirst benefits and mileage or points awards are based upon completion of a qualifying stay at any Loews Hotel. A qualifying stay is any rate published by the hotel. Group, negotiated, third party, government, Universal Passholder and Universal Florida residents rates do not qualify. Not valid with any other discount program, coupon, complimentary or promotional offer.

LoewsFirst has told me on numerous times that any stay booked by a third party, with the exception of AAA, will not accrue points. You may still get your benefits at the hotel, such as the welcome gift, but your stay will not accrue points towards the next level.

I agree....that's why I questioned the 3rd party thing... Don't want to give out wrong info?? Kelly, if you booked thru DU AND received your LF "qualifying stays", congrats to you :thumbsup2 Me and MY luck....wouldn't happen :sad2:

(ps...I gots your book too....it's awesome!!!)

Yeah - maybe they just didn't want my custom - strange as I'd had good service from them before :rotfl:

I wish we did get in free everywhere - Universal Hotels would be fab, but I still got a pretty good rate from a TA who would check rates for me :thumbsup2
