Usually... I absolutely love The Children's Place store; however, I went there this weekend with my dd4 and I did not find one thing I liked! Plaid is the "thing" this season and I really - really - really don't like plaid! :p (http://www.childrensplace.com/webap...5_baby girl|outfits|lil' plaid plum_babygirls )

So - I went to a second store, Justice for Girls, and guess what they had? Yep, you guessed it...PLAID!

I was just bummed out when I left that mall. Yeah, my DH thought it was a little funny. I have just never struck out while clothes shopping for a 4 year old! lol

So, to whomever decided that plaid was cool - you better watch out! This mom is on clothing shopping strike! (well - at least for now)

Lol, I've just been through the same thing while shopping for my daughter, 8. Although, I don't mind the plaid (I actually like it) - it's the neon/black/80's look I can't believe is all around. I kept saying, "Do you know that this is the kind of thing that was in when I was in middle school???" :rotfl:

Oh I love plaid, Plaid and purple is even better! Well I guess you can look at it as at least your saving some money. :thumbsup2

You're blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of plaid gowns. And then I think it was Yves Saint Laurent... wasn't it who showed plaid military jackets? I think we need a jacket here. And then plaid quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. And then it, uh, filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic Casual Corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that plaid represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room from a pile of stuff.

Hehe... okay, so I may have changed it a bit. Just subsitute "plaid" for "cerulean". But, well, that's pretty much how it happens :goodvibes

I love plaid, but it's gotta be annoying to want something else and not find it!! Did you try Target? They have such cute kids clothers.

Catholic schools. Wore plaid for 12 years and I still won't wear it to this day.

That's all. :lmao: love it

Plaid is WAY better then the big ugly flowers and empire waited shirts that have been out for the past few years :thumbsup2

Being a child of the "preppy" years, I LOVE plaid.

I love it!!!

Now, are they finally over orange? No one looks good in orange, no matter what other people tell you.

It's dangerous to change a Meryl Streep quote. :duck: ;)

The Scottish, I believe.
Do they even have PURPLE plaid? :confused3

I wish that I did like plaid - there is certainly a plethora of plaid right now!

LuvCuteBoys - your post was too funny! I am happily unaware of the popularity of plaid apparently!

Wow - look at all the awesome alliteration in this post!

I love it!!!

I know a lot of people that look good in orange :confused3. I am not one of them but my DD15 is.

Both of my girls look good in orange - I can also pull it off as well. I have one casual summer shirt that is orange. I think orange looks good on women/females who have a darker complexion so it doesn't wash them out.

Orange and black are the school colors for my girls - good thing they look good in it! lol

I love plaid:thumbsup2 My DD10 definitely does not though.

:happytv:

So true, the stores can only purchase what the vendors sell...and this season (and the previous one or two) it is plaid, and layers, lots of glitter and flyaway tops for girls.

They have plaid too. I just bought DD 3 plaid skirts for school. What I like about the plaid from Target is that it had multiple colors in it so she could wear several tops with the skirts.

Plaid is so in right now that I keep having to fight with my 12 yo regarding her flannel shirts... it is 98 degrees and she wants to wear flannel...

I love it!!!

Don't tell that to my 3yo. She's addicted to orange, and her little blond-haired, blue-eyed self looks adorable in it. I like it myself, actually, though it depends on the shade.

Of course, I like plaid, too. Madras is one of my favorite fabrics: a great combo of light, cool cotton, fun colors, and plaid! (And no, there is no purple in traditional Scottish tartans, but there is plenty of it in Madras, which originated in India. Now there are modern flannel plaids that were inspired by Madras colors, which is how you get plaids that contain colors such as hot pink, chartreuse and purple.)
