Who cares about Tiger Woods?

I'm disappointed that he chose the middle of the Olympics as the time to draw attention to himself.

I know there was also complaining because of what ever golf tournament is going on today . Just a thought....I have never been to rehab or know anyone else who has, but aren't there "steps" that must be taken at certain times in a certain order? Is it possible that this public apology is part of his rehab & needed to be done at this point for his continued rehab? Especially sense he is going back to rehab tomarrow? Just wondering.

This is only being shown because of the media's preoccupation with scandal. And it's not just the media, the public is extremely nosy and loves a good scandal too.

This would have all blown over without another word if so many people weren't preoccupied with other people's private lives.

I agree. And I could care less about a "public apology". These sorts of apologies have nothing to do with apologizing to anyone, they are more about salvaging one's own image in the public eye than anything.

I don't care what celebrities do in their private lives. If they are athletes I follow I care only about what they do on the field. If they are a musician I like I care only about what they do on a stage or in the studio. If I enjoy their acting I stop caring the second the camera turns off or the curtain drops.

People that follow the daily comings and goings of celebrities must have very boring lives. Celebrity gossip is just fodder for the weak minded or easily amused.

In my opinion, the only one he owes an apology to is Elin. And that should be private and ongoing. Today was a PR stunt. Pure and simple. Just like the staged photos with him jogging wearing Nike apparel from head to toe.

I don't CARE about Tiger Woods. What's he going to say? "I am a horndog, but a fantastic golfer. Please respect my family's privacy as we try and heal so that my wife will not leave me, take the kids and half my money." Because that's what it boils down to.

If YOU had written Tiger's speech, you could have saved everyone the other 13 minutes and 50 seconds that they spent listening to the speech he DID give!

I thought the same thing! I was just glad they didn't cut into Let's Make a Deal because then I would have been really steamed.

Anyways, I do think it was necessary that Tiger apologized to his sponsors (former and current), his associates, and his family. Not sure if a televised event was necessary, but maybe he is sick of hiding. I think his decisions were very selfish and affected more than just his marriage and family.

I seem to be in the minority here but DH and I have been Tiger fans for 10+ years having seen him play in tournaments and while I think what he did was awful, I think anyone should be allowed to ask for forgiveness and be given a chance to prove they are really sorry for what they did. I can't imagine how awful it would be to be in the situation he was, even though he was the one who dug himself into it.

Imagine having to get up in front of your family and friends and a national TV and apologize for your worst mistake. And yes, I understand what he did was beyond one small mistake but still, I can't even imagine how humiliating and humbling that had to be.
