I know this is probably a dumb question but we always stay on-site so it was never an issue for my family. My co-worker is going down this summer, staying at Universal. Can they still get the dining plan for the day they will be at Magic Kingdom? For some reason I was thinking it is only offered to resort staying guest. Maybe I'm thinking of free dining. Anyway, could someone please clarify.

The dining plan is only available to those staying at a Disney resort and must be booked as a package.

Thank you, that's what I thought. I think my co-worker is full of crap about going to begin with. Can never figure out if I can believe what she says. She's staying at Universal & I mentioned how nice the dining plan was when we had it the other year. She said she asked her travel agent about getting it & was told that they probably will stop offering the dining plan by the summer. Yeah right, they make too much money off of this to discontinue it.

You're welcome :).

I wouldn't be surprised if a TA did tell her it would be discontinued as I have heard a lot of crazy things that are so far from the truth that TA's have told others :sad2:.

Universal has its own dining plan for their parks. I believe it is open to anyone who is visiting, not just their resort guests. and indeed there were rumors that they were going to end it (they're not, apparently). Maybe that is what she is thinking of and mixing it up with Disney. However, Disney dining plans are available only to guests of Disney owned resorts.
