DH & I have decided that we are just going to exchange stocking this year. I think it sounds like a lot of fun. I took him to the mall today to point out everything he can stuff into my stocking. I also told him where I keep the Yankee candle & Bath & Body works coupons, just in case ya'know. :smooth:

My Mom usualy gets me a few items, like cookware, candles or a sweater. sometimes she lets me pick a couple of things out, sometimes not.

I also get gifts from my MIL. I know she'll ask DH what I want, so I usually secretly tell him what to tell her. This year I told him to mention a Wilson cake decorating set. :teeth: Some years I'll get what DH mentions, some years I don't.

My sister usually spends the most money on me. We made a deal years ago that we would always hook each other up for the holidays. For a couple of years we watched each other gushing over gifts, gritting our teeth with fake smiles while secretly we were so disappointed with the gifts we received.

BTW, those days of bad gifts ended after my family pointed out my terrible acting skills. Seems the more I disliked an item, the bigger my smile became & the more ohhs & ahhs I'd proclaim! :rotfl:

My DH usually gets me several gifts and we do stockings which are alot of fun,

my mom gets me a few gifts-usually clothes and something we need around the house.

My MIL gets me the Christmas Longaberger basket and another small gift.
My SIL and BIl get me a gift.

We also draw names on my side of the family. This year my sister has my name.

This year I started something for myself called an I Me My Mine basket. For each wk of the yr you put something for yourself into a basket and open during the holiday season. Well I just recently started filling my basket - nail polish, Yankee Candle samplers, tea, movie certificates, etc.

I also exchange gifts with a good friend

My brother, my daughter, my mother, 3 of my cousins, 2 of my co-workers, 3 of my friends, 2 of my neighbors....thats about it...

Over the years we've changed for gifts at holidays to just enjoying life and buying gifts whenever.

With my mom now gone I don't get any gifts from my side of the family - only something from my Godmother.

For DH's family we decided to finally go to a grab bag where we just pull one name and buy for that person.

We'll do secret santa and a grab bag at work as well.

As for DH and I. Our gifts our the trips we take. For example this year we are headed to Disneyland for 4 full days. The time we spend together is the greatest gift of all.

The less I focus on gifts - the more I enjoy the true meaning of the season.

I get presents from my sister. My dad gives me a check (which I will put toward my new computer). My "nieces & nephews" give me presents. None of them is old enough to really give me a present, so my sisters, bils, brother & sil really give the presents. My younger brother's family doesn't give me anything. Some of the kids make me presents--those are always wonderful. The little ones tend to draw me pictures of Disney characters, the older ones make beautiful things--candle holders, etc. 2 of my good friends will give me presents. One, a guy, will give me some kind of baseball themed present, my female friend always surprizes me with something wonderful!
