Well think about this also, with not knowing who sent you a gift, you also have NO WAY of knowing if a gift was undelivered. They covered their as.... selves well with that.

If 10 people send you a present, and you get 8, or 2, or even 1, how do you know how many were sent your way? After all, they dont even say on the message on the homepage anywhere that a person even CAN receive more than 1 gift.

So if you send 20 to yourself to give out in person, and you only get 1, then what? lol.

good idea, bad execution lol.

Keep a record of the name you send to, the name you send from, and the number of gifts.

Me? none...my cast of extras? quite a bit. Although i did have to cut my list off at 100 gifts. :rotfl2:

Me and my cast of extras, will not spend on something so iffy, at least not much. (Even if it is something decent... who knows that each individual will like it?)

I think I'll stick to gifting, virtually in person, so my friends and any others I may choose know I care about them.

Besides, "Playing Santa" is almost as addictive as playing VMK, and sometimes more fun too.

It is awesome to proveid that one pin, poster, hat or chair that someone has been looking for, and tell them that it is a gift. (If you don't believe me, try it. Go into a trade room, wait until someone is asking for something you have, then gift them... WOOT!!! :cool1: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :jumping2: :jumping3: IT ROCKS!!!)

Decoy

YOu are the best Santa ever! :Pinkbounc Thanks so much for my unexpected surprise and yes Santa I've been good...well at least I try to be good!

I agree I love giving gifts on VMK, it is so much fun - if only you could see the persons reaction on their face, that would be priceless.:)

Hmmm. I think I'll be sending them to myself (and my mules) and keeping track of everything. No one even knows what this is. If it's a pin, some people don't care about pins. If it's a hat, others may not want it. So I want to see what it is and make sure that I get all that I paid for. Then I can gift them out in person.

I still haven't received my hyena pin that I should have gotten.

So I'm not about to "send" a present to someone else and them not receive it. I'd just end up 500 credits lost in the black hole.

Sorry I am too lame to be able to copy the picture of the pumpkin pin! But must say that it made me spit something much stronger than Diet Coke on my screen

Oh decoy, i agree. And not blowing my own horn, but i'm in a position in the game to do both. I understand that many people are not, but could be if they really wanted to do both. THey dont have to do both, but it is possible if theyd like to. I have 20 mules with over 2,500 each JUST to gift people with this secret present system. Then another 10 set aside with over 15,000 each to gift people if/when new stuff comes out. Those are all my "christmas team" that i created a while back, and the gift event mules a few days ago. We wont even get into my normal mules that i have to get me and my family all the new goodies that come out lol. Then there's always the main dude himself, and well, he can gift everybody on the dis, a few times, if need be lol.
Again, i understand that a lot of people dont have many credits. So yeah this secret gift thing might seem silly, and it is a bit silly the way they are executing it. All i was really getting at in earlier posts was, that if people have the desire to do a bit of this gift giving event, they can always make a few mules, and save their hard earned credits to gift people face to face. Thats what i am doing. So i think we were on the same page, we just got there a little differently. ;)

So i'll give the santa thing a shot, but yes many of you should plan on seeing me in person as well, when i pop in on you between now and the 25th. ;)

Also, what if the gift is JUNK?????? What if it is just some stinky pin?? And it costs 500 credits!!!! Wouldn't it just be better to give your friends something you KNOW they will like??????

I can gift 24+ of my friends, but I'll probably double gift about 10 of them.

Yes.

but why not do both? I look at this event as a sort of virtual polyanna. You dont know what you're going to get until you open it.

So i'll get my friends a little surprise, then give them something i know they would like also.

But i agree with your point that hey, the surprise could be junk. (which is why i plan on sending one to each of the vmk staffers) :rotfl: And if it is junk, the gift i give them in person will more than make up for that. But if it's not junk.......then they will be just that much happier. ;)

Yeah, that is what I would like to know. I am going to get my mom one if it is even worth it, I hope she will get one for me. But, I agree, I think it was a terrible idea: 1. To not tell what the gift is on the home site. 2. Keeping the Santa who gave it to you anonymous, and 3. Why we have to pay 500 credits to get it when we can gift someone something that they like, probably for cheaper, instead of giving an unknown gift.

I mean, that is like getting a present for someone, and closing your eyes until you've finished wrapping it!

I really am not that interested in this event, but I have a feeling that I will like the "mountains of fun" event.
