Who’s excited about the Barbie movie?

I don't really like barbie, but my daughter wants to see, can children watch such movies?
You don't have to like Barbie to get this movie. But this is not for kids, it will be over their heads and they'll most likely be bored. Although visually its fun. But I would suggest no one under maybe 14.

If your kid is like 7 and under they'll probably be super bored. This isn't like the mountain of direct to video Barbie movies - this one covers more grown up themes that little kids wouldn't understand or resonate with. When I saw it, a family brought a group of toddlers that were bored out of their skulls the entire time.

The movie is also rated PG-13.

Not a kids movie. There's a lot of times a 'kids' subjects are written for adults but there is still a lot of kid appeal. This really is a kids subject that is totally written for adults and geared for adults.

Killers of the Flower Moon looks promising. While seeing Oppenheimer last night saw a preview for Napoleon and that looks pretty amazing too.
Napoleon looks great. Can’t remember if it is being released before or after the cut off for the Oscars.

Am finally scheduled to see the movie tomorrow, and am looking forward to it!

Is everyone still wearing pink when they go, or has that particular bit of fun passed?
We saw lots of pink two weekends ago when we were at the theater for a Gran Turismo pre-screening. Lots of ladies in groups still, all in pink.

I think 10 or 11 and older would be fine to see it, but they might find the second half boring. 13 and up would probably enjoy it.

Is anyone going to see it again when they release it in IMAX? Supposed to have extra scenes!

Ah, someone else on this thread who still hasn't had a chance to see the movie yet but has been planning to. :)
Saw it 5 days ago with 4 of my sisters (family reunion, rainy day). It was enjoyable for what it was. I don’t think anyone in my family ever played with Barbie dolls.

I will also note that films released in the second half of the year have historically done better at the Oscars than films released earlier in the year. Just the way it goes. I believe the deadline is 31 December which is why some directors have scrambled to get films released before that date to be included in Oscar contention.

I wonder if the SAG strike may push the deadline off a month or two? :scratchin The Emmy Awards are being delayed to January-ish, as of right now. (The Oscars show was delayed during COVID. I think the nominations and voting deadline were delayed too.)

SAG actors now honoring the strike are not promoting their upcoming films. While that technically has nothing to do with Oscar members voting, (as far as I know,) movies not having the press interviews or promotion for opening films may kill them at the box office. :headache: While some movies should open for the Christmas holiday season as they are seasonal, the movies hoping to be an Oscar contender may want to wait to be able to promote them, have the stars talk about what they did to prepare for the roles, etc., and ride on the momentum of the box office opening weekend numbers.
