so this experience has been the one thing we have yet to do, About a year ago we were set on doing it and really excited. Then someone told us about a pretty crappy experience they had there from the service, to the food tasting old and the show being lame. Overall they felt it wasn’t worth the price.

That’s not what I’ve read from other people but then I looked up some reviews on google and found similar bad things people are saying.

Has anyone been there recently and can chime in?

I was there in May and loved it. The show was cheesy but entertaining, the food ranged from fine (the fried chicken) to pretty good (the mashed potatoes were above the standard I'm used to at WDW and the cornbread was amazing) and the beverages were plentiful. Overall, I thought it was much better than Spirit of Aloha, and I'd probably do it again at some point.

We last did it in 2017, and that was our third time. Food was delicious (I'm a vegetarian and have always enjoyed my meal they offered). In fact, it was so delicious that they helped us smuggle it out so we could enjoy it again while stuck in our villa during the Hurricane Irma. Even reheated everyone was happy with it!
As for the show, I love it. It's my kind of humor. And clearly we love the waitstaff - they were the ones supplying us with to go cups and those iconic picnic napkins to wrap all the food in (they told us to just leave them in the room for housekeeping and they would magically make it back to HDDR).

We did it I need November 2017 and April 2018, and had a great experience both times! Food was good show was fun. All in all a great experience.

What did they offer for vegetarians?

We've gone twice. The first time (2010) was my first Disney trip since I was a kid. I didn't do the planning. I didn't love the show or the food. And our entire table somehow had NO idea that the price included drinks. We decided to try it again in 2014 and it was so much better. My son loved it. He especially loved that the food just showed up at our table lol. We wanted to go last trip, but we overplanned. We're planning to go again during our upcoming trip.

We went earlier this month. It’s a fun show and our girls loved it. The jokes are corny and the singing is good. The food was better than I expected. Our server was very good as well. Overall it was an enjoyable show. I wouldn’t hesitate to go again but I can’t say it’s a must-do or that it’s something everyone would enjoy.

I saw it in January and I really enjoyed it. It's a really good dinner theater. I know that the jokes/style isn't for everyone, but I liked it.

Saw it in January. Still great. Food is terrific, servers are fun, show is cheesy, silly and funny performed by a talented cast.

There are people who don't enjoy it. My GF tolerates it because she knows I love it. But if she were to review it she wouldn't give it a good review. She definitely would say it's not worth the price.

I really dislike the mac and cheese but the fried chicken is the best in The World and the ribs are great.

Yep, you will read different opinions on Google/Yelp/TripAdvisor. You may very well not like it.

It's lighthearted / corny humor and fun music and dancing, and some crowd interaction. I don't know what kind of person wouldn't be able to laugh at it and enjoy themselves, but to each their own.

The food is pretty good. Remember that they're basically preparing a lot of food for a lot of people in a tight window of time, so set expectations accordingly. Food prepared for that kind of setting will never be as great as an individually prepared meal made to order.

Each time I've been given the choice of three things. I think they are usually pasta primavera, pasta and sauce, or grilled veggies. Keeping with the theme, the pasta they give are wagon wheels :sail: <- closest I could find to a wagon wheel

Just did in Sept.....like you it was a "bucket list" thing. Show was great...food was good....only complaint was even though the dinner was 90 mins....still felt "rushed" eating. If you stopped to watch the show and ate slowly....it was bang...bang.bang...onto the next course. And Even though it was unlimited beer and wine....it was like pulling teeth to get a 2nd beer. It was something I HAD to do....but doubtful I'll make it a routine.

My family enjoyed HDDR a ton! Yes, it was hard to get a second drink, but the food tasted good and the kids loved the show.

The food is the kind of stuff that's hard to mess up but there have been times when the chicken and ribs haven't been very hot. It's not cooked to order, so that's always a risk I suppose. As far as the show goes, it's really all personal preference and therefore very difficult to make any decision about liking/not liking the show based solely on others opinions. There are some youtube videos you can watch to get a taste of what you can expect, but like anything else, you should probably experience it for yourself and make up your own mind.

We went this summer. We had a great waiter. He refilled drinks promptly. My daughter devoured the cornbread - he brought another loaf that was stabbed on a steak knife and dropped it onto her plate. She was thrilled. She insisted we go back next year so she can have the dang cornbread again lol. All of our food was pretty good. I love the chicken - ate too much of it and the waiter teased me about that lol. I just wish the strawberry shortcake had ice cream but that wouldn’t work in this setting. We find the show to be great fun. You have to be in the mindset of corny humor - like the old Hee Haw show from the 70’s.

Lol thanks!

We went in July. This was our 5th time. My daughter is a fried chicken junkie so we hit anywhere that has it. The food is good. Salad, cornbread and strawberry shortcake are great. We love the show. My 3-year old granddaughter laughed the whole time. She called it the funny show.

W were there in May and really enjoyed it. My wife and I are in our late 60's, The show was cheesy but entertaining (singing, dancing and corny jokes), the food was outstanding. Plentiful portions, tasty and variety (fried chicken, bbq pork). Like the Spirit of Aloha, everyone should do it at least once. With either, I would do it again, but thought HDDR was the better of the two experiences.

We were there last week, had a lot of fun. Ribs, mashed potatoes, corn bread and salad were very good, corn was - you know canned corn?, chicken was ok, beans ok, we requested mac and cheese and she brought us a bucket of it - kids loved it.
Show is corny, but in a fun way. I wasn't sure how my kids would like it but they all said we have to go back.
Oh and service was GREAT.

We went twice last year - once in August, once in December. I think it's a love it or hate it kind of thing. DS10 LOVES it. DH thought it was really dorky. The food is not great, but edible. The show is fun. It's definitely more of an experience than an evening of fine dining. We paired it with a visit to the stables and, in December, we also did a sleigh ride. If you like corny jokes and fried chicken, you'll probably like it. If not, it may not be for you.
