How do yous get all your white clothing sparkling white? We have hard water,so that could be one problem. I just feel like throwing all my dingy bras and undies out, but I can't afford too.

What is the secret. :confused3 :confused3

a water softener. but that would cost a lot more than buying new clothes.

We had hard well water, no water softener at our last home and I hated how laundry and dishes turned out. Now, we're back to soft water and my clothes are so much whiter, and my dishes sparkle.

and I hate it! My DSIL has the softest water ever, her towels and sheets are heavenly. Oh I wish there was a secret I could use. I have tried the boxed water softners and they help somewhat, also use Chlorox 2 in my loads of laundry.....If I had room I would add a softner in a heart beat.

I have a softener, but mine still don't come out nice and white. I was just going to look up this on the internet for tips and saw your post. I was surprised to see it, so if anyone else has tips please chip in here!

We have city water. I don't know if that makes a difference. But I swear by Tide, Clorox and Downy.

We have the same problem. I hate my dingy bras and undies. I don't even buy myself white shirts anymore. We have VERY hard water and we have a water softener, but it's not enough. We still get orange marks on the sinks, tubs and toilets. I use tide and clorox, but it's not enough. I'm so sick of it. I'm sick of not being able to wear white shirts and of having dingy underwear!

I don't have a bad problem with dingies, but I *do* use BIZ whenever I think they're looking less than bright. It goes in IN ADDITION TO your regular detergent...it's a brightener, not a cleaner :) Hope it helps someone :)

VERY hot water! German washers actually have the water heater built in, and I never saw such white whites as when we lived there - without bleach. I thought I was doomed to the additives here too, until we bought a new water heater and the plumber set the temperature higher than we had been accustomed to do. Suddenly, my clothes and my dishes were sparkling white again.

hmmmm higher water temp....thats easy enough to try..and gosh I forgot about BIZ I will have to look for it next trip to the store.

I add the soap & non clorine bleach to the hottest water temp and run the washer just through the agitator stage (my washer will stop at this point if I leave the lid open). I let this soak for an hour or more. When I come back the water is black!! (And this is a load of all whites!!) Then I drain the water, add more soap & n-c-bleach and wash in hot water. They really look great. And we are talking DS9 who thinks nothing of running outside with just soxs... and thinks his white uniform shirt is a napkin!!
