We are planning on having our reception at the Whitehall Room & Patio (GF) and would like to have a small dance floor if posisible. Could you please let me know about how many people it will accommodate with a dance floor? Does anyone have pics of it set up with a dance floor?

Thanks!
Jill

i am having my reception there too in May. I just got back from my planning session last month. The wedding pavilion to me - seemed quite big in comparison to the the photos shown here on Disboards and other places. I am having about 60 guests more or less and I think the room will be perfect. Out side is REALLY Big too in comparison to the photos. How many people are you planning on having?

Jill,

If you wanted to dance inside, which is what it souds like, I don't think you'd be able to have a dance floor and enough tables if you were having more than 40- 50 guests. The White Hall Room is beautiful, and the patio really makes it a special venue! It's like getting two venues for the price of one! We we're originally planning on having our reception at White Hall, for about 50 guests and it would have been a nice fit. I was hoping to do our dancing outside on the patio though. It's a huge area and would make a beautiful dance space.

We originally went with the whitehall room and patio. It is absolutely beautiful. The room is shaped like an octagon and has an incredible ceiling. But the room would have been very crowded with dinner service and a dance floor. Then we thought about dancing outside, but we were afraid some of our guests wouldn't want to go back and forth. There are doors that open to the patio area, but not a direct exit. (Does that make sense?)

Thanks for all of the info! We are working on the invite list and plan on inviting about 60, with a guestimate of about 45-50 actually coming. I didn't know that having the dance floor outside is an option -- sounds like a good idea in case it is too crowded to have it inside. Or, maybe having the dance floor inside & some of the tables outside & some inside with the patio doors open?
JDR2b777 -- are you having a dance floor, music, etc?
PrincessTanyuhKaypoo -- it sounded like you were going to have your dance on the patio but now are not. What changed your mind?

Jill,

We switched locations, and that's the only reason we aren't dancing outside. Had we stayed at Whitehall we'd be dancing outside, but we're in February. What time of the year are you getting married? Also what time is your reception planned for? I do know that if you do outside dancing there is a loud noise curfew- I think it's 9, but I would check on that.

Our Coordinator suggested eating outside and dancing inside but I really didn't like that idea at all. The patio is wonderful, it's very spacious and has an over hang big enough to fit a single row of tables under. I really have always loved the Whitehall rom and patio but we just wanted a little different feel for our reception so we're going with the Atlantic Dance Hall!

We are getting married in late Sept (9/28/07), with the ceremony starting at 5 pm. Thanks for the heads up about the possible "noise curfew"! Your reception venue sounds lovely, too!

Could someone post pictures of the Whitehall room and patio please?? Thanks!! :thumbsup2

The patio is a wonderful venue, however you can definately hear the monorail going over, as well as there are receiving docs right behind the patio where you can hear the trucks backing up, etc. As for fitting 50 people in the Whitehall room with a dance floor. I think you may be pretty cramped. For my friend's event, we had 12 people, a gazebo and some space for dancing but not alot.

The room is lovely but i agree with others that you would be pretty cramped. Its a shame that you can hear the monorail and trucks though.
