Going to an adults only Christmas party and need to bring two white elephant gifts $5-$10 each. One for myself and one for my husband. They can be silly or serious. Looking for some ideas. Thanks.

A toilet seat was always a hit at ours! New at the Family Dollar $6-$7. One year I got a white elephant, a white Playdoh elephant!

Go to a thrift store and find the ugliest light fixture and wrap that in a box with a gift card to a home improvement store. (This is even better when you have the ugly light fixture sitting around your house)

We've done white elephant gifts at our parties before - they're a hoot! Our stipulation for the gift is 1. must be something you already have that you do not want 2. something that you would donate or 3. sell in a yard sale.

We don't usually place a $ value on the item - it should not be something the guest bought especially for our party.

Some of our guests don't have clutter to spare I guess and they'll bring something nice that they bought. The gifts that are the most fun are the ones where a woman ends up with an old men's electric shaver or somebody with impeccable taste goes home with an outdated silk flower arrangement... you get the idea.

Have fun at the party!

Are they going to be wrapped? I find people usually pick the biggest package when things are wrapped, so get a multi-pack of toilet paper - the biggest one you can buy in your price limit. Even better if it's the cheap stuff :cool1:

If you have time, check out your local calendar store. (They usually put one into our mall at Christmas time.)
We bought an Outhouse calendar one year that was hysterical and a huge hit!

Ok, just thought of another one. Someone posted on here recently that WalMart has wine for $2 a bottle or so. That with a couple of plastic wine glasses could be pretty funny.

According to how "adult" you want to be, my husband discovered something in our local Publix foreign food section that he decided on using as a possible WhiteElephant gift, it was a can of Heinz Spotted Dick :lmao: some sort of bread pudding type of product.

We went to one this week and the two funniest gifts were (1) a Leg Lamp from A Christmas Story and (2) Squirrel Underpants (http://www.amazon.com/Accoutrements-Squirrel-Underpants/dp/B001NQE3F8). Both were opened by Chinese employees who were perplexed by their gifts.

Five gifts made the 3-steal maxium: 2 bottles of liquor, the Leg Lamp, a Badger's Snuggie and a UW Football Big Ten Championship t-shirt with red & white beads (the gift we brought).
