White Actor to play Michael Jackson

While Michael Jackson was African-American, at that time his skin was most definitely white...whiter than most caucasians' in fact!

Someone commented this on a Facebook post about it and it made me laugh: 'At least Joesph can now join his broher Ralph in playing roles where their character have physical deficits in the nasal area...' :lmao:
Explain......I have seen may of his brothers movies....I don't "get it"

I think we should wait and see how the make-up artists and costumers and actor actually do with the character before we decide. It really is a tricky situation because of the vitiligo, as he did look quite light by then. (I believe it was a combination of the condition itself and skin-lightening treatments to reduce the contrast between the affected and unaffected areas.) But the recent controversy does complicate things. I think in their place, I might have quietly gone for political correctness over accuracy on this one.

Sounds like a campy movie. If it is supposed to be funny I can see casting a white person to play an black historical figure. I wonder who will play the other two leads.

Stockard Channing is playing Liz. Not sure about Brando.

Who cares? Why make a big deal about it? That's the problem with today. Let's find a problem even though there isn't. Remember the movie "Soul Man"? White guy pretending to be black by changing his color and just about everything else. They try that today, I'm sure some nut job activist group/actor would be protesting making a fool out of themselves.

Pretty sure MJ would be happy about that. Didn't he spend most of his life trying to look less black?
He had a skin disease called vitiligo. It causes an autoimmune response in which the skin's pigmentation is destroyed, leaving pale patches. The treatments can cause darker skin to look paler. It can be particularly disfiguring.

There is sooo much wrong with this

1. As @FlightlessDuck stated, Michael Jackson in a 1993 interview was totally against having a white actor portray him
watch this to see his EXACT words on this issue

2. This who supposed road trip is a LIE, it did not happen. I actually wrote a thread about this time as I was there in New York on September 11, outside the hotel where Michael Jackson was staying, when the planes hit the towers. Read my September 11 story here http://www.disboards.com/threads/my...ded-in-a-city-attacked-by-terrorists.3446394/

Also The Estate of Marlon Brando have now DENIED this story today on Facebook

3. A COMEDY about the events of September 11, an event which real people died and many people still suffer the effects of!!! That day should be about remembering those who lost their lives, not turned into some tasteless piece of so called entertainment

I always questioned whether Jacko had true vitiligo. All the cases I ever saw the skin was splotchy. Jacko was perfectly the same shade of white all over his body (well at least his face and torso.)

It's not supposed to be factual. It's satire.

His autospy reports are all over the internet and the Coroner testified in court that he did have Vitilago.

Then he must have used PLENTY of makeup to even out his skin. Google images of vitiligo and Jacko looked NOTHING like they do.

Tangent time - Yes he had vitiligo, and vitiligo has many causes including the usage of skin bleaching chemicals. It's kind of a chicken or egg argument.
It cannot be restated enough that this movie is not a biopic.

It was Liz's assistant who wrote story in Vanity Fair
I know someone whose parents and travel group were stranded in NYC at that time...somehow they got to New Jersey and rented a car to dtive home- there were stories of people having to BUY used cars to drive home because no rentals available

I read your story- it doesn't prove Michael didn't do this (??) just that his bodyguards talked to you all

Nothing I see proves that Marlon Brando Facebook page is "official"- anyone can do a Fan Facebook page
