Hi! Just wanted to see what people thought of Whispering Canyon Cafe for Dinner. My DH & I enjoyed the made to order breakfast a few years back. However, my family did not care for the "all you can eat breakfast" many years ago. I am thinking of trying the dinner, I think everyone might be interested in this meal. Can anyone give me their opinion on it? Pics are always fun too. Thanks!

My family of five always enjoy dinner at Whispering Canyon. The atmosphere is top notch, make sure you sit in the main dining roiom not behind the wall in the back. The food is good for BBQ. We have tried the skillet which is all you can eat and has average BBQ type food with ribs, BBQ chicken, pulled pork, tasty brisket, corn on the cob and mashed potatoes, as well as a sald. We have also ordered of the menu for other items and all have been tasty. Beside having a good meal the wait staff and fellow guests make it a fun and lively meal. Just make an effort to enjoy yourself and give iut a try.

I haven't eaten there yet but have dinner ADR's for there in April and am curious to read reviews. So far it sounds like a lot of fun and good food .. I've only had one person give a bad review of it. So I'm looking forward to trying it out.

My husband loves the skillet

I don't love chicken on the bone or ribs but I've gotten it also and it's great. Last trip I got a pasta dish...can't remember what exactly since it was over a year ago but it was delicious. My son has ordered the steak and cleaned his plate.

It's so much fun there. We've had the best times and great wait staff. After several dinners I don't remember a bad experience and believe me I'm sensitive to bad service.

Be open to some teasing and interaction and you'll have a fun time but keep in mind every server and level of "play" is different.

We have had great breakfasts and lunches at WCC. In fact, my daughter still talks about our server from July 2010 when we were there for lunch, and she hopes we see him again on our next trip. We did see Raphael at breakfast in 2011, and he said that we should request always him when we arrive at the podium.

However, last year, when we went for dinner, we had the worst service we have ever had at a meal at WDW. Our server literally disappeared. We had ordered the skillet, and we wanted to ask for more of some of the items. We spent literally 45 minutes trying to track her down, and by the time we did find her, we were so disappointed in our meal that we just wanted to leave. The food was OK, but we were sitting there wanting drink and food refills and Jenny was no where to be found.

I really hate to echo Kathy's experience above, because our first time at WCC was filled with "classic" memories (some of my fav' of all times at Disney!!), delicious food (we pigged out, y'all) and a FANTASTIC and hysterically funny CM wairress - but, second time around was a major disappointment---the service during our dinner fizzled and vanished - poof...and the food was b l a n d to barely edible. Bluh. Still, we enjoyed watching others have fun with their happy CM's and reminisced about our first time there and then we enjoyed WL and the nighttime walk after dinner to take a Friendship over to MK to see the lighted boat parade and fireworks. I think our second experience was not the norm at all---at least I hope not.

Thanks for the reviews everyone!!! They are very mixed so I'm not real sure what to do. The milkshakes seem fun & my DH loves BBQ so I may have to mention this place. If anyone else has some reviews that would be awesome!!

We went in 2010. It was the last restaurant we added to our ADRs. It was just kind of tossed on there at the last minute. We made the running joke all week that it would probably be one of our favorites as a result. And sure enough, it's the one we HAVE to do on our Fall 2012 trip. We did the lunch, because I was a bit cautious of some of the shenanigans they do there, and I've heard it's more tame during lunch. However, the food was fantastic, the shakes were great, and I don't think I would have cared at all if the waiter had been a bit more...."rude". Playfully rude, obviously.

Anyway, we had a great first experience. But there doesn't seem to be anyone complaining about the first time experience. Here's hoping for good luck on the second go-around.

Word of warning. Two of us got their bread pudding, and did not care for it at all. It's no 'Ohana's, that's for sure.

I really like eating there. It is not my DH's favorite. My MIL and I like it for the mashed potatoes (AWESOME!!), atmosphere, getting to be at another resort and then the boat back to MK. My Father enjoyed it well enough but thought the BBQ at HHDR was better. The milkshakes are second only to 50s--I have never had a treat at Beaches and Cream, though.

I have not had a bad experience there and the servers have always been very nice and helpful.

Did I say that the mashed potatoes were AWESOME!!

We had Raphael for a waiter also and he was so much fun! He would yell across the lobby of the Lodge and yell out my grandsons name every time he saw him! He is wonderful! Be sure to ask for him!

This is my families must do restaurant, in fact we eat there twice normally our 10 day stay. We have moved away from the skillet and started getting other menu items. The pot roast is amazing, I try to dulipcate it at home but never as good and I like the steak. We have Bob "Geppetto" both times during our last trip and he was completely amazing. DD was sick that night and we went downstairs (cause our home is WL) and he could not be more attentive to her, he set up a bed just for her and tended to her every need. I know during our next trip we will ask for him again. We have never had an issue there.

DW and I had dinner there this evening. I had the steak with vegetables and potatoe wedges. DW had the pork dish with cheese grits. We enjoyed our meals. Our server was nice and pleasant. The atmosphere is busy and fun. While we were there, they did a thing with ketchup. I'll leave it at that. The also had wooden ponies and a sing a long. So if your looking for a decent meal in a fun atmosphere ...go for it. In addition to our entree we had the house salad for an appetizer and the no sugar added berry mouse for dessert. Good meal, we were satisfied.

We ate there last February. I loved my pasta dish. My husband got the skillet and didn't care for it that much. But I found the atmosphere to be great, and the kids really enjoyed their meal (they both got hamburgers.....with ketchup) We were on the Dining Plan and the milkshakes were included as our beverage.

I don't think I'd book a meal there if I didn't have young children. We went on our last trip and my younger son had a great time, but my older son was already a bit to old for all the silliness.


If I had a child under the age of 7 or 8 I would go again. The atmosphere was fun. The food was good, but, I ordered trout and they substituted salmon...which I'd just had the night before at the resort...from the children's menu without asking my permission. Our CM said he'd "Make it up" to me...but there was no offer of free dessert, discounted price, etc. I have no idea how he thought he made it up.

Despite that, my kids were having such a good time that I would have gone again had I been able to afford another trip while they were little.

We didn't enjoy our dinner at all. All 4 of us ordered the skillet, which I think was a big mistake. The only part we all really enjoyed was the mashed potatoes. The kids got shakes and those were delicious. It was a heck of a lot to pay for potatoes and shakes. Even my margarita did not taste good, and it's HARD to mess up a margarita for me. Thank goodness we were staying in WL, and didn't go out of our way for the bad meal. Otherwise I might have cried!

If you go, don't get the skillet. Those who give this place higher marks usually didn't get the skillet.
