Unfortunately, this is one of two Disney restaurants we will never step foot in again. Besides the horrible service, from the hostess to our server, the food was awful and made my DH ill. Perhaps ordering something other than the skillet is good, but it left a bad taste in our mouths and we won't be back.

I am sorry to hear that. I know I don't want the skillet. Was thinking just a cheeseburger, lol.

They have a cheeseburger on the kids menu. I believe that you can just order a piece of roasted chicken or pulled pork and mashed potatoes. It is one of our favorite places to eat at Disney.

We love WCC. DH gets the skillet but I am not a bbq fan so I go with the Ribeye. Don't know if it is served at lunch, but it is very tasty and tender. A very good steak.

I ordered the trout, but about 15 minutes after taking our order our server came out and told me he was sorry, they were out. He took it upon himself to substitute salmon, and said it would be right out, and that he promised he would make it up to me.

I was so caught off guard. First, since when does the server get to order for you? I'd had salmon the night before, and really didn't want it again. When it came it was from the kiddie menu...absolutely no seasoning, and not even browned on top. The sides with it were tasteless.

I figured the "I'll make it up to you" comment meant I'd see a discount, or we'd get free dessert or something. Nope. Nothing.

My boys had a wonderful experience there and would probably like to go again. But, by the time that happens my younger son will have outgrown their shenanigans, and I'm not sure I'd risk the meal fiasco again.

Yes, I know I should have spoken up. I was just so floored that I didn't.

We have taken the family to Whispering Canyon on 3 seperate occasions, I must say that we throughly enjoyed ourselves everytime. Your experience will depend ALOT on what waiter/waitress you get. Thought the food was excellent and the hooten and hollaran was right up our alley. It is a fun experience with great food. Just don't ask for ketchup!!!! LOL

I love you!!!! Our family doesn't care for WCC either and it kinda bugs me, because we love the WL so very much.

We like BBQ style food, but not smoked food, which is what everything seemed to be and taste like

We went once and won't be back - at least not for dinner

I had the steak and it was great!!

Dh and DD had the skillet, something upset both of their stomachs.

When we were talking about making ADRs for our upcoming Sept trip - dd actuallysaid "I do NOT want to eat at that whispering canyon place ever again"

I do agree your waiter / waitress also has a lot of bearing on how much you enjoy the meal.

Why does it depend on your server? Is this another interactive restaurant? We've never eaten there but love interactive atmosphere of some of Disney's restaurants.

IF, AND THAT IS A BIG IF, you get the right server and ask for certain things like ketchup and straws and such, there can be a lot of antics, embarrassment, etc. The night we were there in 2008 there was absolutely none of the shenanigans people talked about. Add that to the food making my DH sick, we won't make the trek over there again.
