Would appreciate your thoughts on Whispering Canyon. Reviews seem to be mixed, but it sure sounds like it might be fun.

you might get more response on the restaurant board but we( husband and I)really enjoyed it. imo the dinner skillet was so so but my plated meal was really good. we enjoyed the breakfast skillet much more than the dinner one. we had fun both times we went, our waiter at dinner wasn't real "fun" but he was nice and it was fun to watch all the goings on ( that's more appealing to me actually not one to like the lime light) breakfast our server was more fun and we really didn't want to leave but we had a great time both times. it was the most fun we had at any WDW meal i can remember(maybe not at all character meals when the kids were little but including Luau and hddr, Ohana, I think we've been to most places some time or another)

we plan on going next trip again and "surprising" the family :rotfl:

and i don't think i've seen one place at WDW without mixed reviews so don't make your decisions on just that, if it looks good try it!

We love it- always have had great food and great wait staff. We do always order there buffet so I'm not sure about other food, but the buffet rocks. Now I will say if your looking for a quiet dinner away from people this is NOT the place, but if you want some fun and don't mind playful staff-eat here.

Another vote "yes" for this good restaurant.

hmm.....i guess i'm the odd ball lol. it's great if you have kids, but i didn't really like it much. it was extremely loud the whole time, people are constantly running around and it took us 3 hours(no joke!) to get our check. we had brought a birthday cake in for someone in our party and asked if they'd keep it in their fridge until after dinner and they said they would, then somehow lost the cake.

and then someone tried to put a napkin on my head in the form of some sort of hat......and i'm one of those weird people who don't like people they don't know touching them.....so i wasn't very happy about that lol.

although the food was actually pretty good. service wasn't good at all.

We also enjoy Whispering Canyon. The all you can drink milkshakes are definately our favorites.

We enjoyed it a lot. And the food was so yummy :goodvibes . I was there with my parents, my DH and my kids-ages 3 and 5. I've been recommending it to everyone I talk to since we went.

We enjoyed it. It is a little bit like Prime Time Cafe at MGM in that the waiters are part of the fun & show. If you want a quiet dinner - this isn't the place. But, our kids thought it was really fun. We spent most of our time watching everything going on around us rather than talking to each other. I would say if it's easy to work into the schedule, you will enjoy it. But, we wouldn't do this at the expense of a park visit or something. But - we recommend and food is good!

We have been twice on different trips. The 1st trip we had a great waiter and it was a lot of fun. The kids had a great time. The food was very good as well. However, our 2nd visit we took some friends after we had talked so highly of it. We may have gone in with too high of expectations as the food and service were not nearly as good as our 1st visit. The kids really tried to engage the waiter but he just wouldn't play along. Both visits were during slower periods as well. The 1st was mid October and the 2nd was early/mid January.

I really think it is a hit or miss on your waiter. If you get a good one you will have a blast, if not it will just be ok at best.

We enjoyed it. We went on my daughters 18th birthday. They served her a cake and had all the boys under 18 in the restaurant sing her Happy Birthday.!! party:

We loved Whispering Canyon! It's a little noisy, but it's supposed to be. We've eaten there three times & always enjoyed it.

We're going to Whispering Canyon Cafe for the first time on our upcoming trip. We are excited about the environment & the food, but I can see how it can get a bit uncomfortable when personal space is invaded. I personally love that stuff & so does my husband (& kids too!). But my mom would not enjoy a napkin hat - that would be a big "no, no" for the server. I'd have to jump in and form a protective shield around grandma's head! We want grandma to have a happy experience too. I'd gladly wear the "hat" for her. :goodvibes

We weren't crazy about it. The food was good and we had a pretty laid back server. But there were a few servers there that seemed to go overboard. It was as though they were competing to see who could be the loudest and most obnoxious. I know that is supposed to be part of the experience. A couple of them just seemed to take it a bit too far, almost mean at times. Maybe we just had a bad night.

We love it - I think a lot depends on the personality of your server. The more into it they are the more fun it is for you. But - I do agree that you'd get more out of it if you have kids. DD 7 and DS 3 really enjoy it.

Don't forget to ask for ketchup!

(PS - if you check out the Food Photo thread on the Resturant Board you'll get a peek of some of the offerings there.)

the 1st time i went i didnt really like it only because it was just me and my son so i was kind of embarrassed to do all the dancing and joking around and plus i was very tired after a long day in the parks
the next time i went with my son, my exhusband met us for a few days and they made him dance to i'm a little tea pot
it was so funny-i liked it a little more
then the 3rd time we went it was with 8 people
we had a blast-it was 1 of the highlights of our trip
sooooo each time can be different but its worth trying for sure

I was there for my first time in February and it was good. Nothing wonderful but I wouldn't recommend not going there. I'd say the bigger problem is getting there; it's a pain in the butt to get to.

We had a lot of fun at Whispering Canyon. Our server was great. She said she's worked for Disney for 20 years. By the end of the meal, we were ready for her to sit down with us at the table. Lots of fun stuff......my 13 year old had to get our drink refills and serve us, we got to yell for ketchup, just a lot of fun. It's very loud. My kids thought it was great when the "mc" told the kids waiting to do a pony race that they had to use OUTSIDE voices there. This dinner was one of the highlights of our trip. :goodvibes

yeah after i knocked the hat off my head one of the servers tried to come and put another one on and my fiance just grabbed his hand and said "please don't!" in a pleading look lol.
