I know these two restaurants are quite different, haven't eaten at either though. Which would you try? Thanks!

These are almost complete opposites.
WC vs AP
Cheap vs Expensive
Loud vs Quiet
Bustling vs Relaxed
Quantity vs Quality
Group/Family Dining vs Romantic Dining
Stuffed vs Satisfied
Sophisticated vs Goofy
But... they are both memorable.

It depends on what you like and who you'll be with.

If you have kids, are on a budget, or only want to use 1 TS credit on the dining plan, go to Whispering Canyon. Pretty good menu selection including an "all you care to enjoy" skillet. I've been there for both breakfast and dinner and both were very good. It's one of the more entertaining places for children to go, there's wooden horse races, and different "cues" the servers will play off of like asking for ketchup.

If you're going in an all adult party, don't have a strict budget or don't mind splurging, or have an extra TS credit, go to Artist's Point. This is personally my favorite restaurant on property. The menu is what I've been calling American exotic. There's venison potstickers and buffalo steaks on the menu, as well as tamer things for the less adventurous. The menu changes based on what's in season.

This all isn't to say you couldn't go to Whispering Canyon with all adults or to Artist's Point with little kids, just that they may not be as appealing. Whispering Canyon can be loud and have lots of kids running around, so if you're looking for a quiet place, this is probably not for you. If you think you're kids wouldn't be able to handle a more "upscale" place or would be bored with it, I'd say steer clear of Artist's Point, but children are welcome and they do offer a kids menu although my understanding is it's not very extensive. Allears.net has menus for both places so they might help you're decision.

We didn't care for the food or the atmosphere at WCC (it wasn't very fun), but loved Artist Point, esecially the mushroom soup and the buffalo steak. That's just our family's experience, one try at each restaurant. We would go out of our way to go to AP again. I guess we'd give WCC another try IF we stayed at WL again, but definitely NOT order the skillet. YUCK!

Depends on what you're looking for. The food at Artist Pointe is much better than WCC.

I've eaten at both. Enjoyed both.

Depends on what mood you are in. Fun? Romantic?

If you are in the mood for a fun time, choose Whispering Canyon.

If you are in the mood for a nice, quiet, possibly romantic dinner, choose Artist Point.

I have been to both and I would second this opinion.

The food is good at both, of course Artist Point is much more expensive and refined; you will also get somewhat unconvential types of food choices as well - I remember when I went they were serving Buffalo. :thumbsup2 However there's enough variety for anyone's taste IMO.

If you have young children and you don't feel like dressing up (just a little bit :scared1:) then I would probably recommend the Canyon. IF you can do both -- that would be ideal.

On our next Disney trip (this time we're not staying at Wilderness Lodge we're at AKL just to try something new), we made sure to book an ADR at Wispering Canyon.

Artist Point hands down. I always have this on the itinerary for each trip. Food, atmosphere and service are great. I've had lunch at WWC once. The food was OK, not great just OK and a lot of it and I'm not a clean your plate eater but hate to waste. The portions were WAY too large for the average person to eat.
