Whispering Canyon, fun or obnoxious?

What do you think of Whispering Canyon? I've been wanting to try it and think the others in my group would be fine with all the shenanigans, but maybe not. Does the whole table have to participate or can one person turn their card over?

It's not that bad. They really don't pester you. If you have kids let them live a little. If you are bothered by theatre dining then eat elsewhere so everyone else can live it up. Just don't ask for napkins or straws.

We love it. It is the one place we do once every trip. We are a two top at 5 PM and always get the table by the fireplace. Oh and make sure to order your tea LARGE.

It is usually the whole table. We love love love the WCC. So much fun. Paul is our favorite waiter. It really isn't that bad. Plus the food is great. You should go and I feel you will have so much fun.

We have done with and w/out antics. Last time without- not because we didn't enjoy- but because both DS were OUT COLD in a stroller. So- it turned into a date night. Both time we enjoyed watching and participating. The food is good, resort is beautiful and CMs are very attentive. Also- that cobbler is amazing!

Do you request that table when you arrive? We will be dining there for my first time this trip..still undecided on breakfast, lunch or dinner, but would love to sit by a fireplace! We are a party of two also

They seat the first two top of the evening in that very spot. We don't even ask but you can. Here are some pics from 2010,2014 and 2015:

We've been twice for breakfast and once for dinner. Food was wonderful all three times. First breakfast was DH, 2 DS's elementary age, and me. Our server was a hoot and we had a lot of fun. Came back a couple years later and ate with our neighbors and their son and nephew- so the kids were all elementary and middle school aged. That was even more fun! Our server really played it up with the kids (he even had them chanting "let's go Jeffro!") and our neighbors who are usually pretty quiet had a blast! The third time when we went for dinner we had been out playing mini golf and resort hopping all day and were beat by the time we got there for dinner. It was like the CM at the check in desk knew we needed more peace and quiet, and had us seated in the back by the fireplace. We had the greatest server- she was so personable, truly sincere and funny, it really made our whole day.

I think the servers play off of how your party reacts. They won't be overly annoying if they can see you're not up for participating. But I'd try it and go with the flow. You're at WDW- where better to act like a big kid at a meal?

We tried breakfast last summer and enjoyed the food and the antics. It wasn't over the top at all, definitely not obnoxious. We are returning this year we liked it so much

I love it and I'm not the party type person, but, this was sooooo relaxing and fun..
No matter how many ketchup we got or how big the dish of butter one teen in
my group got, she laughed hysterically..

How does WCC compare to 50's PT? I watched a couple videos of 50's PT and thought it looked really annoying.

We did it last time and my grumpy tween was not into it at first (moody!!!). The CM was great about being fun with the rest of us. Eventually, the tween kid came out of his bad mood and the CM subtly noticed and started messing with him a little. She was perfect. All of the kids have requested that we go back again this year. And, the food was delicious!

Whispering canyon was one of our favorites. CM Linda was a great waitress. I did not let the rest of the family know what was coming when we went there. My very proper DMIL was flustered at first but after a few minutes of the give and take she really enjoyed it.

We thought it was great. DS was 13, so not as into it as DD 10, but he still got a kick out of the ketchup and helped return the favor, and the straws. The food was good, and enjoyed being able to pick the three entrees, and then get additional ones. Milkshakes were good too, but more of a dessert.

The Whispering Canyon waitress insinuated that my son and I were in a romantic relationship. because we were visiting from Alabama. It embarrassed my son enough that he never wants to go back. It kind of pissed me off too. I don't know who would that that was funny.

That didn't happen at 50's PT. So 50's PT has that going for it.

50's PT is more like your mother or father telling you to clean your plate. They make sure you washed your hands if you went to the bathroom. (What color is the soap?) That kind of stuff.

:sad2: :scared1: Wow. I believe you but just... wow. I can't imagine! I would have told her to cut it out or I'd be speaking to the manager.
